More data:

This is the 5th professional football title won by teams from the Boston/Providence region. (New England). Four now have been won by the Patriots, and one NFL title, in 1928 by the Providence Steam Roller.

That area has also won 9 baseball titles, 17 basketball titles, and 6 hockey titles, for a total of 37 professional sports championships in history. This number is second only to New York City amongst US and Canadian cities.

But they have won 9 titles since just the year 2000 which ties them with LA/Anaheim for most titles by a town in the new Millenium.

Cities who have won titles beginning in 2000:

Boston/NE 9

LA/Anaheim 9

New York 6

Miami 4

San Antonio 4

Chicago 3

Pittsburgh 3

Detroit 3

Tampa 2

New Orleans 1

Dallas 1

Phoenix 1
