Now that the Super Bowl is concluded I can do an update on which team is leading in the "Team of the Decade" race. If you have read these before, recall that my system award points to each team on a 10-6-3-1 basis for each season. ( I do this for each of the NFL/MLB/NBA)

The winner of the Championship garners 10 points. The loser gets 6 points. The losers of the "Semifinal" games or series each get 3 points, and any team that makes a playoff appearance gets 1 point.

Here are the standings for the NFL after the 2014 season. I note the points each team has gotten in a season, then compile the total for the decade beginning in 2010:

    New England Patriots 1, 6, 3, 3, 10 Total 23 points

    Seattle Seahawks 1, 1, 10, 6 Total 18 points

    Green Bay Packers 10, 1, 1, 1, 3 Total 16 points

    Baltimore Ravens 1, 3, 10, 1 Total 15 points

    San Francisco 49ers 3, 6, 3, Total 12 points

New York Giants 10 Total 10 points

    Denver Broncos 1, 1, 6, 1 Total 9 points

    Pittsburgh Steelers 6, 1, 1 Total 8 points

    Indianapolis Colts 1, 1, 1, 3 Total 6 points

    Atlanta Falcons 1, 1, 3 Total 5 points

    Cincinnati Bengals 1, 1, 1, 1 Total 4 points

New York Jets 3, Total 3 points

Chicago Bears 3, Total 3 points

    New Orleans Saints 1, 1, 1 Total 3 points

Kansas City Chiefs 1, 1 Total 2 points

    Philadelphia Eagles 1, 1 Total 2 points

    Houston Texans 1, 1 Total 2 points

    Carolina Panthers 1, 1 Total 2 points

    Detroit Lions 1, 1 Total 2 points

Washington Redskins 1 Total 1 point

Minnesota Vikings 1 Total 1 point

San Diego Chargers 1 Total 1 point

Dallas Cowboys 1 Total 1 point

Raiders, Bucs, Bills, Dolphins, Browns, Jags, Rams no points

Previous Team of the Decade Winners:

      2000s: Patriots (runnerup: Steelers)

      1990s: Cowboys (runnerup: Bills)

      1980s: 49ers (runnerup: Redskins)

      1970s: Steelers (runnerup: Cowboys)

      1960s: Packers (runnerup: Chargers)

      1950s: Browns (runnerup: Lions)

      1940s: Redskins (runnerup: Browns)

      1930s: Packers (runnerup: Giants)

      1920s: Bears (runnerup: Bulldogs)

No team has won the title two decades in a row. The Pats are ahead and have that chance.
