I suppose the Browns needed to put out some good news for their fans.

I would like to point out that the Browns were paying McQ $3 million.....which is EXACTLY what S. Wiesnewski is asking for.....

What a great swap THAT would be.....

LOL... start spreadin' the news... but does he have McQ's "versatility"?

I shudder to think of how much worse McQ would have looked in more space at OT...

If that's the case, how in the world has he not signed a long term deal with the Raiders? They have tons of cap room and the guy is a starting caliber guard/center.

It'd be awesome if the Browns could sign him, but I get the feeling he's looking for a place where at the very least he can get a shot at a starting role. Considering the quality of play of the Brown's two guards and the contract Mack got last offseason, there isn't a spot for him in Ohio...

Super Bowl Champs get rid of there Dead Wood and we had to take it to fill a injury and not Depth. Hope we stay a young team with no more NFL deadbeat up players..

Every so often there is that rare talent that actually excels at tackle after striking out inside. It's few and far between, but stranger things have happened.

    In McQuistan's case...not likely.

Time to quit piling up on Paul. The guy is 31-32 years old. His time is done. He was a guy with marginal pro skills who managed to play 9 or so years in the NFL. You can't suck to do that. The fact is he is at the age where many players skills start to slip. His level of play was such that he didn't have much room for slippage.

We need to bolster the O-line. We took a shot on the guy and it became evident his playing days were done once we had to play him come mid season. At that point the coaches had to make a call: Is it better having a vet fill the last back-up role or is it better bringing in some young guy who will have to learn a new system? We elected to ride it out the last 7 games with Paul.

Thanks Paul. You managed to play your dream when not many would have given you much hope.

There's something to be said for that.

Paul was what he was... a journeyman lineman that fell into a starter role for a segment of his career in Seattle.

Kudos to him for fulfilling what I presume was his NFL dream... and as long as it is not in Cleveland, may it continue.

Absolutely... and there are likely many very good OTs that would be less effective inside. The skill sets/ physical requirements do differ.

No tears for Paul, dude got $1.5M+ to start one game and play on the field goal team, got a Super Bowl ring the year before. Not bad a for a big fat McGinger.

I hoped he'd be that value versatility we need.

Too bad, from one big fat ginger to another.
