The NFL ruled that the formation the Patriots used against Baltimore in the playoff was illegal. Remember? The Ravens were ahead by two touchdowns when Shane Vereen who became ineligible lined up as a slot receiver on three occasions. The Ravens defense was confused and Harbaugh should have called a timeout to discuss it with the official. I watched that game and clearly Harbaugh blew it by not taking a timeout. They might have won if he did.

So now if an ineligible receiver lines up outside the tackle box it will be a five yard penalty. I read this on ESPN.

I'll bet this makes the Ravens feel better about the loss. It just goes to show you how far Belicheck and company will go to win.

I'd take a Superbowl win within the current rules and than a change the next

Exactly! But if Harbaugh had called a timeout before the ball was snapped it might have changed the outcome of the game. His defense was confused and all he did was jump up and down yelling on the sidelines. So the Patriots used that formation two more times.

So now it will be a five yard penalty.

Same as the tuck rule, Patriots have had their fair share of good luck as far as officiating is concerned

Why is the formation ruled illegal today? Was it not illegal two months ago? Patriots play in a perennial lousy division and still need help to win their division? Spy-Gate, Deflate-gate, Shane Vereen becoming ineligible but lines up outside the tackle box- three times! Patriots go on to win Super Bowl.

I'm waiting for Mr. Wells to finish his exhaustive investigation into under inflated footballs. By now, he could have found Amelia Earhart!

But Roger Goodell emphasized today that the Falcons and Browns had broken the rules and must be punished accordingly even though the texts didn't change the outcome of any games. The Browns will probably lose a fourth round pick while the Patriots will be exonerated you watch.

They make rules changes all the time. They paid for Spygate and we'll have to wait and see on Deflategate

The reason more than the deception of it for me was that it completely invalidated the numbering system for players. hey, if want to line up a 320 pound dude in the slot go for it but he shouldn't be designated as an OL. Good change for once by the NFL.

Well it aint cheating until it's against the rules.....until then, it's basically finding a loop hole....which, to me, is just smart.....

they also exhaustively explained what a 'catch' is, lifted the blackout rules for this year and as of now are on the 16th hole with pina coladas while the hookers lay in wait on the 18th.

yeah, owning a NFL team really sucks.

robert kraft is laughing all the way to the bank while he steps on all the little people who dare question him or his team.

It wasn't. One answer... covers both questions.
