I honestly paid zero attention to all of that when it was going on. I knew it was politically motivated nonsense from what little I heard and tuned it out.

Bush administration put out some evidence that Saddam Hussein had tried to buy yellow cake uranium. Joe Wilson was a reporter married to Valerie Plame a low level CIA agent. she arranged to have her husband report on that claim and he returned with a doctored story in order to make the Bush administration look bad. later in an interview with Robert Novak she was outed as a CIA agent and the left got hysterical. they were sure that Dick Cheney had ordered her to be exposed in order to put her in peril. it later turned out to be Democrat Richard Armitage who actually told Novak who she was. she and her husband tell conflicting stories as to why he was selected. there was a grand jury who desperately wanted to find something on Dick Cheney and when they couldn't they went after his chief of staff I believe, Scooter Libby who they trapped in some sort of misleading Congress or obstruction of justice chickenshit charge. now one of the witnesses laughs about recanting. it was a political witch hunt by prosecutor Fitzgerald and in my opinion an act of mere treason when Joe Wilson filed the bullshit report.
of course its history like Teapot Dome but it was a big issue here at one time.
