Dallas runs a 4-3.
All God's children deserve a second chance.

I agree with an earlier post...his NFL career may well be over. The young man has serious issues. Tomsula was pretty adamant that they would help him, but there's an old saying that "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink". No one can help Aldon but Aldon.

How is having a suspended Aldon Smith any different than having an injured Barkevious Mingo?
because he's a scumbag, although within your rationale, not as big a scumbag as tom brady.

couch, you're very good at what you do.
sometimes it takes a couple of posts to figure it out.....

And screw it I'll say it. On the field, this guy would be a near PERFECT signing for us. Your was worried about not having an every down OLB. 6'4", 265. Sets the edge. Rushes the passer. Violent. I'm drooling at the thought. But alas, we all have to be PC.

But unless you can add "great in coverage" to his qualities we still would not have an every down OLB. What we would have is a five-man front.
PC? Our organization has been pretty adamant about wanting players with character. Contrasted with our 2015 draft class and the vet leadership we have assembled how does Aldon Smith qualify?
Before you go back to Gordon... he's a legacy problem-child... same as Aldon was in SF until yesterday.

Plus, even if you use Gordon, it's pretty clear he's not helping or an asset to the team....at all.....soon he will be a 4 year veteran, with one good partial season to his credit.....(#All-Pro distraction)....
Not a fan of idiots......even ones that play good football(when not in jail)

what is this "every down" LB talk about anyway? We have what would appear to be 2 "every down" Sams, possibly a 3rd with Armonty in the mix....and two Will OLB"ers with Orchard potentially fitting the "every down" Will role if Mingo remains hurt. Aldon would be another Sam for us, utterly no need. If anything now, with Mingo hurt...we need another Will cause we don't know what Orchard is gonna be like. Unfortunately I see us running alot of the same two Sam looks like we did last year with Sheard and Kruger...which I hate. Mingo if he could stay healthy is the perfect pass coverage and speed edge specialist we need that we're not gonna be asking to mix up too much with offensive lineman in run stopping.

Pretty much my drum, 4... And I am focused on the Will. You can get away with your Sam not being a cover guy, but can't pair that with a Will who is not complete.
Orchard may be the one...
Shoulder or not, I don't see Mingo as an edge setter... or an impact pass rusher any more. He's simply never added mass/ power to his frame. Lighter now than he was at his Combine. To his credit he is a good cover LB.
The best, 3-down Will we may have on our roster may be Robertson. Liked him outside as a rookie in our old 4-3 days, but he's a tad small for the 3-4.
