Oh really? Must have missed it.

    Do we have anything official?

  • According to DawgsByNature:

    Players Terminated

    • NT Phil Taylor - This is a pretty big stunner, as it seemed like the team could use him in a limited backup role this season to split reps with rookie NT Danny Shelton. It would also seem that this locks up a roster spot for NT Jamie Meder, who has had an impressive past couple of weeks as a backup.

Taylor won't be out any money, as his $5.477 million contract this year is fully guaranteed. There is no offset language on the contract, so Taylor will be able to double dip with whatever team he signs with next.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported that Cleveland reached an injury settlement with the lineman, who was due a guaranteed $5.477 million this season.

So if there was "no offset language" in this extension the "WAS"^^^ due is now making this clear as a Mud Hole

    lol, yep.

I guess we probably don't know what he settled for, but whatever he did settle for, he can still get paid by someone else no matter what.

He might have settled for what he was guaranteed, or it could have been less,, which is my guess.

  • Stories out Big Phil visits Squealers yesterday and from their reports Big Phil needs more knee surgery. More teams lined up but this is making more sense if there was a medical settlement made off his 5.477? Take the time to get it right, Phil your a couple million to the good in the 2015 season already.

Account in one article I read yesterday was that a couple of reps of other teams said Phil was visibly favoring the repaired knee in the game tape.

Good guess... In essence Phil bought out his contract by taking less than the guaranteed amount, but can end up making more in total, if he signs with another team.

League minimum for a 5th year player is $745k. Seems reasonable that we saved about that much as a result of the negotiation.

  • Good luck to Phil - and Kitchen, ...Meder and Shelton are very mobile,

and it lends versatility to the dline in terms of stunts, and both have already

shown they can disrupt the backfield by collapsing the pocket. Just a smart move.

  • Good stuff Tour. If the Voodoo Squealers medical staff can't get Phil on the field, their is totally something up with those knees 😉

  • too bad we couldn't get anything for him. Lotta teams need a big 3-4 NT. Ah well. I think we're moving away from the 3-4 anyway, not abandoning it...but I think Pettine's gonna start up some of the same stuff he was doing in Buffalo.

Well per MKC at Cleveland.com as of today sound like as a medical settlement we agreed to pay him the whole 5.477million. I think most of us can live on that for a year. The stadium will sellout every week as we pay these others that our no longer with us. Money to burn but where's the talent on the field to win on Sundays. This factory of " " has got to end. Rant over had to get it out. Go Browns!!

Damn us for playing Shelton and letting Taylor walk.

9 dollar beer, 6 dollar hot dog. Hell ya.

  • Well, gumby, MKC was wrong again

    Field Yates@FieldYates
The Browns' injury settlement for Phil Taylor was worth $966,529. Not cheap, but not early as bad of a financial hit as full salary ($5.48M)

According to that report, Taylor got significantly less than the 5$ mil he was due to collect

  • No shocker on MKC being wrong, but that much less? Phil may have overestimated his FA value.

who is that woman rimming off at the dealer? ffs

Anyway, guaranteed contracts are for situations like this. I would've liked to see Phil get the full amount, he earned it. Yeah he didn't pan out exactly like we wanted but the dude played hard. He's a trench monster and unfortunately you have to carry an obscene amount of weight these days to play NT in a 3-4. Massive wear and tear.

  • "per league sources" just does nothing for me in these days. Do you trust this league? Ask Mort. give time for the stories to settle is your best option these days..

Good God I am a sick fan. If I would just listen to myself ^^^^^ 😁. I have suspended myself from listening or reading anything else from MKC. M is Mind or Mouth. K is for Kills and C is for Cleveland. Please just Quit..

  • Well, let's see. We have one zero credibility media person reporting one thing & another zero credibility media person reporting differently. Which one do I believe & quote?...NEITHER!!!

All I have to say is "Good luck" to Phil.
