Love it or Shove It.

The Browns Board
41 16 1.4k
  • Browns will be below .500 unless they can stop the run

Cubs Win - Thank you back to the future

    The Patriots will be undefeated

Johnny will not touch the field, Pettine will start mccown unless josh gets another concussion

    Peyton will retire

Screw the steelers, The ravens suck, and the bengals will get bounced out of the playoffs...again

  • Here are some statements. Tell whether you love it or would shove it....and briefly explain why:

    1. The Browns will finish with a .500 or better record.

    2. The Cubs will win the World Series

    3. There will be an undefeated team at the end of the season. (pre-playoffs)

    4. Peyton Manning will retire at the end of the season.

    5. After one more loss, the Browns will put JP Manziel in as starting QB.

    6. DC Jim O'Neil will be fired before the season ends.

    7. The St. Louis Rams will move back to LA before long.

    8. The Steelers do not need Ben R. to win.

    9. The Ravens suck

    10. JT Barrett will be the Ohio St. QB for the rest of the year.

I can't see it. Didn't predict them to at the beginning of the season and nothing they've shown so far has me changing my mind. If anything, that they haven't improved a lick in the running game (either stopping it, or enforcing their own) would lead me to say that 7-9 prediction was a little optimistic.

    2. The Cubs will win the World Series

I don't think so. But that's me being a jerk because they're down 2-0 right now.

    3. There will be an undefeated team at the end of the season. (pre-playoffs)

Nah. Just statistically, it doesn't happen often. And I don't believe there's a team out there flawless enough to achieve that feat this season.

    4. Peyton Manning will retire at the end of the season.

I think so. He's done. The fans can see it. The league can see it. I know he's an all-time great and I know he loves the game. But i have to think his pride will step in at the end of the year and make the decision for him. I'm not sure the details of his contract however. He's signed for a couple of years after this, no? Is it guaranteed?

    5. After one more loss, the Browns will put JP Manziel in as starting QB.

Negative. Gonna take more than one more loss. He's performed above expectations and as long as management feels there's a chance, they'll keep him in. Manziel only starts in case of injury, or if the season is officially being written off.

    6. DC Jim O'Neil will be fired before the season ends.

He's Pettine's buddy, isn't he? If he's fired (which may happen) it'll be after the season ends. Firing him mid-season won't turn the defense around for the rest of it, so what's the point?

    8. The Steelers do not need Ben R. to win.

To win what? A game here or there? Sure, they can do that without him. Important games however? They need the Rapist in order to be successful.

    9. The Ravens suck

    Affirmative. Fuck 'em.

    12. Born to Run by Springsteen has the best lyrics of any song in the rock n roll era.

Well that's pretty subjective. A hearty "not even close" from this cat.

Would love to love it but must shove it. They will, however, be competitive in just about every game.....but they have to learn to win....and won't do that in time to get over .500.

    2. The Cubs will win the World Series

Again, would love to love ya baby, but I can't. I mean.....someone has to have waited longer than the Indians. Cubs jinx still at large.

    3. There will be an undefeated team at the end of the season. (pre-playoffs)

Uhm,shove it. Don't think so. But there could be a couple or 3 15-1/14-2 teams.

    4. Peyton Manning will retire at the end of the season.

Love it. I don't think Peyton should look like Johnny U or Joe Namath sitting on the end of a bench somewhere playing second/third string. Its not like he would really need the extra money the way those guys probably did back in the day.

    5. After one more loss, the Browns will put JP Manziel in as starting QB.

Shove it. Maybe they should to finally see what they have in this guy. But after these recent incidents they may just let him right the string out on the bench and cut ties in the offseason.....if he isn't suspended before that.

Sticking with Josh Gordon is one thing. JFF has, I think a bigger drug problem than Gordon. Its just that that drug is alcohol. And Gordon didn't get involved in any potential DV situation,.

    6. DC Jim O'Neil will be fired before the season ends.

I would love to love it.....but I think he sticks until seasons end. If there is no improvement though, he is gonzo at that point....or should be.

    7. The St. Louis Rams will move back to LA before long.

They really should have never left. I will say, love it.

    8. The Steelers do not need Ben R. to win.

Shove it.....if by win we mean "make a run for the playoffs".

    9. The Ravens suck

Love it....and they deserve to suck for a few years to come as well.

    10. JT Barrett will be the Ohio St. QB for the rest of the year.

Love it. Yes, until he gets hurt again.....and Cardale comes in and plays well again.

That is my weird prediction for the year.

    11. The Michigan play is perhaps the biggest fuckup in the history of American Sports.

Shove it. As big a fuckup as it is, it was only a fuckup by accident. The fuckup in the Super Bowl last year where the Seahawks didn't run the ball into the endzone with Lynch was a fuckup by design. A much worse fuckup....on a much bigger stage.

So, Woody....your boys are off the hook on this one, at least in my opinion.

    12. Born to Run by Springsteen has the best lyrics of any song in the rock n roll era.

Its in the "running", pun intended. So, love it for that.

    Name better?

  • 1. The Browns will finish with a .500 or better record.

Shove it....Id take it, but it's looking like that wont happen....

    2. The Cubs will win the World Series

    Shove it....

    3. There will be an undefeated team at the end of the season. (pre-playoffs)

    Shove it....

    4. Peyton Manning will retire at the end of the season.

    Love it...he's baked...

    5. After one more loss, the Browns will put JP Manziel in as starting QB.

    Hahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahaha......

    6. DC Jim O'Neil will be fired before the season ends.

Shove it....if anything, I see a demotion as a better possibility...

    7. The St. Louis Rams will move back to LA before long.

    Love it....

    8. The Steelers do not need Ben R. to win.

Shove it....w/o Ben they are average at best....

    9. The Ravens suck

    Donkey weiners....and they love it!

    10. JT Barrett will be the Ohio St. QB for the rest of the year.

    Love it.....

    11. The Michigan play is perhaps the biggest fuckup in the history of American Sports.

Love it.....its right up there, thats for sure

    12. Born to Run by Springsteen has the best lyrics of any song in the rock n roll era.

    Shove it.....

Shove it... smoke and mirrors and a talisman or two got them a couple wins, but Ben is the hub of the Steel wheel.

    9. The Ravens suck

Love it... not completely true, but close enough for Browns Board purposes.

    10. JT Barrett will be the Ohio St. QB for the rest of the year.

  • Here is one list. Obviously a very subjective subject. One Beatle song has only like 15-16 words.

  • Perhaps we could use Dr. J. Evans Pritchard's method of assessing the poetic value of various lyrics?

  • Or, maybe these lyrics float your boat:

Our early morning singing song, glibby glub gloopy, nibby nabby noopy, la la la lo lo. Sabba sibby sabba, nooby abba nabba, lee le lo lo. Tooby ooby walla, nooby abba naba.

American Pie...maybe one of the best songs everrrrrrrrr.....(when I do hear lyrics, I prefer story tellers the best)

Though, being a musician, my mind rarely lets me even hear the lyric....its always about the music.....

Probably listened to a lot of songs a thousand times, yet have no clue what the words are.....except this one I love....

There are a million tunes with better lyrics.

"...you can check out anytime you like but you can never leave"...name that tune.

In the day we sweat it out on the streets of a runaway American dream

At night we ride through the mansions of glory in suicide machines

Sprung from cages out on highway 9,

Chrome wheeled, fuel injected, and steppin' out over the line

Oh-oh, Baby this town rips the bones from your back

    It's a death trap, it's a suicide rap

We gotta get out while we're young

`Cause tramps like us, baby we were born to run

    yes, girl we were

Wendy let me in I wanna be your friend

I want to guard your dreams and visions

Just wrap your legs 'round these velvet rims

and strap your hands 'cross my engines

Together we could break this trap

We'll run till we drop, baby we'll never go back

Oh-oh, will you walk with me out on the wire

`Cause baby I'm just a scared and lonely rider

But I gotta know how it feels

I want to know if love is wild

Babe I want to know if love is real

    Oh, can you show me

Beyond the Palace hemi-powered drones scream down the boulevard

Girls comb their hair in rearview mirrors

And the boys try to look so hard

The amusement park rises bold and stark

Kids are huddled on the beach in a mist

I wanna die with you Wendy on the street tonight

    In an everlasting kiss

    1-2-3-4!

The highway's jammed with broken heroes on a last chance power drive

Everybody's out on the run tonight

but there's no place left to hide

Together Wendy we can live with the sadness

I'll love you with all the madness in my soul

    Oh-oh, someday girl I don't know when

we're gonna get to that place

    Where we really wanna go

and we'll walk in the sun

But till then tramps like us

baby we were born to run

    Oh honey, tramps like us

baby we were born to run

Come on with me, tramps like us

baby we were born to run

    Ru-uh-uh-un

    Mm-mm-mm-mm

    Uh-uh-uh-oh-oh-oh-oh

    Ru-uh-uh-uh-un

    Mm-mm-mm-mm

    Whoa-oh-oh-oh

    Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh

    Ru-uh-uh-un

    11. The Michigan play is perhaps the biggest fuckup in the history of American Sports.

    12. Born to Run by Springsteen has the best lyrics of any song in the rock n roll era.

in the top 5, Vikings (Jim Marshall) wrong way touchdown, and Garo Ypremian's gaffe are up there. Dwayne Rudd's helmet toss rates too.

    12. Born to Run by Springsteen has the best lyrics of any song in the rock n roll era.

no way Jose. I like Bruce, but his lyrics are largely unintelligible. At least 10 songs by Dylan I'd put ahead, + a couple by Fleetwood Mac.

I guess I don't understand why an openly gay Steeler fan would spend time on this board.
