No Trivia here. Not enough time. Just Various Data Points about the Conference Championship games, which tomorrow feature the Patriots at Broncos and the Cardinals vs. Panthers. Some or most of these statistics only deal with the Conf. title games since 1970 (not the 4 years previous to the merger)
1. Teams with the most appearances in a conference title game:
49ers 15
Steelers 15
Cowboys 14
Patriots 12
Raiders 11
Broncos 10
The 49ers are 6-9 in their 15 appearances. The Cowboys are 8-6.
The Steelers are 8-7 in their games, the Patriots are 8-3 so far, the Broncos are 7-2 so far, and the Raiders are 4-7.
2. As you can see, Sunday's Pats/Broncos game features 2 teams that have often appeared.
The other game Cards/Panthers. This is only the second NFC title game for the Cards....the other being 2008 when they went to the SB. Thus far they are 1-0
The Panthers appear for the 4th time. Their record is 1-2
3. Teams that have lost all of its conf. title games since 1970:
Jets 0-4
Browns 0-3
Jaguars 0-2
Lions 0-1
Chiefs 0-1
But note since 1966 game leading up to Super Bowl:
Browns are 0-5.
Chiefs and Jets each won one of those game and won the SB.
Note: Texans have never appeared in a conf. title game.

Bengals 2-0
Cardinals 1-0
* Seattle Seahawks are 3-0 in NFC title games, but they lost an AFC title game when they were in that conference.
5 The most consecutive appearances in a Conf. title game was by the Raiders in the 70s....and currently by the Patriots. Both now will have appeared in 5.
6. The most consecutive victories in a Conf. title game was the 4 in a row won by the 90s Bills. The Dolphins appeared in 3 in a row in the 70s.
No NFC team has ever won more than 2 consecutive Conf. title games.
7. Four teams have lost 3 consecutive Conf. title games:
Oak. Raiders 1973/74/75
LA Rams 1974/75/76
Cowboys 1980/81/82
Eagles 2001/02/03
8. NFL franchises have appeared in the Conf. title game while being located in different cities:

Houston Oilers played in 2. Tennessee Titans played in 2
LA Rams appeared in 7 in LA, 2 in St. Louis
Arizona Cardinals appeared in 2 now in AZ....but none while in St. Louis.
9. The stadiums that have hosted the most AFC/NFC Championship games since 1970:
Candlestick Park and Three Rivers Stadium, 7 each. (both now no longer used)
Since 1970 Cleveland Municipal Stadium hosted 1 game: 1986
The stadium currently in use with the most games is Gillete Stadium in Foxboro Mass with 5 games.
10. Even though the Ravens have won 2 Super Bowls, they have never hosted an AFC title game. The only conference title game held in Baltimore was the 1970 game between the Colts and the Raiders.
11. The following NFL cities have never had a Conference Championship game played there:
Nashville
Houston (neither Oilers nor Texans)
Kansas City
Detroit
***NYC/NJ has never hosted a conf. title game featuring the Jets....but they have for the Giants.
12. The most points ever scored in a Conf. title game was 51 points Bill vs. Raiders (51-3 score)
The fewest points ever scored was -0-.....and there have actually been 8 shutouts in Conference title games: 6 in the NFC, 2 in the AFC. Worst shutout: Giants 41 Vikings -0 in 2000.
