  • Will Rogers on Politics

    1. The man with the best job in the country is the vice-president. All he has to do is get up every morning and say, "How is the president?"

    2. Politics has become so expensive that it takes a lot of money even to be defeated.

    3. I don't make jokes. I just watch the government and report the facts.

    4. I am not a member of any organized political party. I am a Democrat.

    5. Diplomacy is the art of saying "Nice doggie" until you can find a rock.

    6. Alexander Hamilton started the U.S. Treasury with nothing, and that was the closest our country has ever been to being even.

    7. About all I can say for the United States Senate is that it opens with a prayer and closes with an investigation.

    8. A fool and his money are soon elected.

    9. The only difference between death and taxes is that death doesn't get worse every time Congress meets.

    10. This country has come to feel the same when Congress is in session as when the baby gets hold of a hammer.

  • Abe Lincoln said democrats were like cats fighting. They cry and wail and carry on all night long and you think they are killing each other but in the morning you find out all they have been doing is making more cats.

  • todays democrats certainly are not our fathers democrats.....

  • 4. I'd say the Reps are more disorganized now.

    6. Well no shit. 0 is as close to even as you can get.

  • In terms of being even, the treasury was running a profit and paying off the debt in the 90s.

    Ehh.....

Every high-level DNC official resigned a few months ago due to DNC leaks.

Current DNC chair was just outed by CNN for giving HRC's campaign debate questions on multiple occasions.

The GOP has internal conflicts due to Trump, but the Democrats are not looking so hot either.

The GOP has internal conflicts due to Trump, but the Democrats are not looking so hot either. (democrats usually stick together better than republicans...look how many republicans have either refused to endorse Trump or some have now taken back their endorsement. I don't remember any democrats abandoning Clinton during his impeachment)

No they weren't. They actually had conservative democrats back then who have now gone the way of the dinosaurs.

    Stuart

That's true but what I think he means by progressive democrats back in the day had to do with things like fair wages, labor laws, social security, the GI bill etc. That was progress.

Today being a progressive democrat is about allowing sickos use the girls restroom.

Way different set of circumstances. Clinton wasn't running for president. He was already president. There wasn't much to lose or gain if a democrat politician spoke out against Billy boy.

The greatest withdrawal of Trump support from republicans came after that recording of him talking about pussy. That's because they feared supporting Trump would hinder their re-election bids in their districts.

Paul Ryan did not come out and tell all Republicans to abandon Trump....rather he said (and I'm paraphrasing) "its your call, do what you have to do...meaning in the event of a Hillary election, it is dire that we need to maintain a Republican majority in congress, and if the majority of the majority of the population within a certain Republicans district is appalled by Trump then he's got to go with the flow and withdraw his support.

At least the Dems selected the candidate their party wanted. Not to mention the Tea Party could split the Reps (for the best in the long run)

That the elite dems wanted, at least.

I'm sure they're having some second thoughts now
