Be honest, How does everybody feel about Brock as a starter

The Browns Board

This all depends on how you look at things. If you are driven by enthusiasm and positive thinking, if your love for the Browns is what grills your sausage, then your M.O. is pretty straight forward, and I don't mean this to be insulting. However, this kind of a fan, which is probably 80 - 90% of the folks here, are not going to let their enjoyment and anticipation for a great year to be squashed.

As such, the support for Brock is understood. I don't share it, but I respect it and understand it.

If you are a fan like me, driven more by real-life experience, common sense and practical thinking, there are too many red flags in starting Brock to cause us optimism. Now, if you take your emotions out of this, not many will be able to, there are some very sound reasons to feel that starting Brock is not just the wrong decision, but also that it sheds a very strong negative light on the FO.

Here are what I believe should be red flags.

    1) I am not interested in who is the best QB on the team right now. We should be focused on which QB can be the long-term QB. We should be focused on who WILL be the best down the road. That is the guy I want to see getting the bulk of the attention. Brock is not the best talent, he is merely the most experienced and will be seen as a better QB for not making rookie mistakes.

However, unless your rookie is allowed to make mistakes, he won't ever develop. A QB must be tried by fire, not by sitting on his ass and watching. Kizer should be getting all the focus. Not even debatable.

    2) Starting Brock goes against the entire idea of building for the future, or rebuilding, or whatever you want to call it. Brock is 26. We weren't able to get him for chicken feed because he is a good prospect. Be sensible. When is the last time the Browns got the best of the 31 other NFL teams? When is the last time they jumped on a guy and found a real diamond in the rough?

People, this is the same thing with Brady Quinn. NOBODY wanted him. The odds that Brock changes his spots are the same as the odds that Whoopie Goldturd is going to give Meehan a boner. AssOiler holds on to the ball too, too, too fucking long. He is no better than Tim Couch and only marginally better than Kessler.

    3) The choice of AssOiler brings Hue closer to his eventual firing. He is not an intelligent man and has created a QB quagmire. There is only a slim, slim, sliver of a chance that this will work out. If AssOiler is reborn and tears it up, Hue will gain accolades.

But that is not likely, because we know what the QB is. So, if he is average, or stinks it up, Hue brings in who? Kessler? OR Kizer, who will be unprepared and will be handed a team in shambles, a team with no familiarity with him. Disaster. There are so many reasons this decisions is fucked up I don't think TBB has enough bandwith to list them.

Look, if the fans believe you are building for the future, then you have understanding to put in the new guy, roll with it and let him attend the school of hard knocks. You work with him, go over his game, watch films, bring in supportive help, and you give him a chance to be THE guy.

Kizer is not going to get that. He is being judged NOT on potential, but by what he is right now, TODAY.

If you homers can't see how fucked up and self-defeating that is, the you really are fucked up yourselves. So you believe Brock IS THE GUY? Because that's is what starting him means. It means Kizer will never get the full monte. When and if he is brought in it will be because AssOiler is AssOiler.

EVEN WORSE............ AssOiler takes us to .500 and Kizer sits on the bench most or all year, or a big part of it. Then the kid comes in for a few games after AssOiler fucks things up again, like he always has, and BOOM.............. the Browns draft a QB in 2018 and Kizer never gets a real shot.

Look, Kizer was not my pick, but as the saying goes, if you got em, smoke em. Now, if you are telling me that you belive Brock AssOiler is worth not finding out what Kizer can become? Again, your sense of life, reality and football is really, really fucked up.

Hue did this exact same shit with Kessler. Just remember, you same fucktards who were talking about how smart it was to start RG3 and "mentor" Kessler, are now supporting the same shit Hue did last year.

For the love of a good ass fuck, people, RG3, Ass Oiler, Cutler..............these fucking people are not taking anyone, anywhere. Hue Jackson is cancer to the Browns. The only thing I hate more than this dumb motherfucker are even dumber motherfuckers who think that starting a guy who had his chance and was at best, Pagel, is the right guy to start tonight.

    Un-fucking-believble.

This long post would be much more valid if Osweiler was named game one starter. As of now, though, he isnt. It's a preseason game and he'll be out in three or four drives, then Kizer will take over for probably two full quarters.

The starter of this game doesn't matter.

Kizer is still this team's future and Hue knows that. That's why he's going to be out there the longest, against mostly backups and maybe a scattered starter.

I must agree 100%. It didn't work with Hoyer, McCown and it's not going to work with Osweiler or Kessler. Osweiler is a joke and Kessler is a pretty good backup we should keep behind Kizer.

Since 2011 Cam Newton, Andy Dalton, Russell Wilson, RG3, Andrew Luck, Derek Carr, Marcus Mariota, Jameis Winston, Dak Prescott and Carson Wentz have all started in their rookie years. What are the Browns waiting for? Take the plunge Hue! Anything is better than going 1-15 with the group from last year.

Trade Osweiler as soon as another QB goes down or Cutler sucks it up, Keep Kessler and start Kizer! The worst that can happen is we have a top 5 pick in a loaded 2018 Draft.

Dude...................how fucking idiotic is that? Nobody wanted the fuckstick. Not then, not now. And think about it....what if what you pondered is true? What the fuck does that say about Hue? You let your better guy sit because you want to showcase the turd you picked up?

Fucking idiotic head coach. the fucking cocksucker is incapable of making a right call. RG3, and now this bullshit.

Desparation can be our friend, if Lucks out 6 games they will be desperate. If Flaccos back issue lingers and they are stuck with Mallet same deal. Mallet makes Os look like a hall of famer.

I'm not too high on Brock Lobster but none of the QBs have emerged as the guy, lots of preseason left.

If he continues to absolutely suck then I'd like to see them go with one of the younger guys starting week 1.

  • @tim-couch-pulls-out said:

The "not suck" is far outweighed by the "suck", however. He wasn't really good in Denver, either. He had two games with over a 100 rating, and the rest were in the low 70s - low 80s range.

For all but two of his career starts, he's been pretty average.

Regardless, none of this matters because he's only getting the start so that Kizer will get more snaps in this game against backups in order to boost his confidence. That's how you correctly groom a rookie QB.

OK, if he is only there to groom a rookie QB, I am fine with that. But I am still going to judge what he does with the Cleveland Browns.......not on whatever he may have done elsewhere.

I mean, look at it this way: at one time you really sucked swamp water as a poster on this board, but you have improved over the last few years. So, you see, it can happen!!

And, just like most of your claims, the stats don't back that up.

No stats involved....it is the sum, substance and content that is the evidence. 😉

Right on the money. I feel like Kizer earned next weeks start. He held the ball a few times but overall seems to have it.

Right on your mother cunt. Dude, what yu mean to say is..... GHOOLIE WAS RIGHT................... HUE WAS WRONG.

Ohhh Oooohh Ooooooooooh. now Kize earned he start

WHAT KIND OF AN DUMB COCKSUCKER MORTHERFUCKER even wastes time with Ass Oiler?

Well....when you give 5 different opinions about the same subject, you may have a chance of being right on one of them.

I mean, its like laying down a 2 dollar bet on every single horse in a race and then saying: see, I was right, I won!

Lots of QBs got traded, let go etc. and did well after not being so great the first time around. Ever hear of Brett Favre? Len Dawson? Jim Plunkett? Ron Jaworski? John Unitas? Sonny Jurgenson? Tobin Rote? Fran Tarkenton? Drew Brees? Brad Johnson? Steve Young? --it happens.

    What about Doug Williams?

Doug Williams was pretty darn good his first time around with Tampa Bay. He got his team to the NFC title game...just a few years after they were 0-26.

Brock looked uncomfortable like he was struggling with decisions and plays. I'm not encouraged by what I saw of him last night. I also don't see much that a young QB should be learning from. Kizer looked like the starter to me.

I thought all the QBs were OK, there were drops that muted all the QBs performances. Brock should have had a TD, I believe he also had another well thrown ball dropped. Kessler had a ball dropped by Hall at the end of half that would have put them in FG position. It was a well thrown ball too. I liked the way Kizer moved in the pocket on a couple of his throws and like the pump fakes too. Also the penalties to me killed some of the drives and forced them into some predictable pass situations.

He might look better if Joe Thomas plays instead of our O line mistake Cam Erving.

    Sabotage?

Boy, that was an NSS statement out of WSS.

(Sabotage? That could make Cam Erving the star of an Alfred Hitchcock thriller, no?)

You are not alone, I had the Chicago game on my phone while I was at the Browns game just so I could see what we will regret in not doing. Not drafting Trubisky will turn this fan base against the morons that decided to pass on him at #1. Won't take long.

    No, because he doesn't matter.

If you don't think any QB's looked good, you mustn't have been watching.

Unless of course the improved Browns D with an all pro in MG sets up the O multiple times per game. All depends what kind of football you like best. I prefer great defenses and just better than average offenses when forced too chose.

    It's risk vs reward.

I believe any GM would pick a franchise QB over a stud DL 10 out of 10 times.
