Garrett Hurt Already

Lynch is a talented athlete. Garrett is the biggest joke of a #1 #1 ever
Are you talking Bobby or Myles?
(and you actually may be right about Bobby): Browns choice with the #1 overall pick in 1954:
Robert Driscoll "Bobby" Garrett (August 16, 1932 – 5 December 1987) was an American football quarterback who played one season in the National Football League.
Born in Los Angeles, California, Garrett was an All-American quarterback at Stanford University, where he also starred as a defensive back. In 1953, he became the third person to receive the W.J. Voit Memorial Trophy as the outstanding football player on the Pacific Coast. After he was named most valuable player of the Hula Bowl, he was drafted by theCleveland Browns as the first overall selection in the 1954 NFL Draft. The Browns had needed someone to take over for the veteran Otto Graham, but they soon discovered that Garrett had a liability as a quarterback: he stuttered, which made calling plays difficult.[2]
Garrett never played a game for the Browns, who traded him along with halfback Don Miller and linemen Johnny Bauer and Chet Gierula to the Green Bay Packers for quarterbackBabe Parilli and offensive tackle Bob Fleck. The Packers wanted a backup for veteran Tobin Rote, but did not learn of Garrett's stuttering problem before making the trade. Garrett played just nine games in the NFL.[3]

Maybe dorsey recognizes the need for a vet DE opp garrett and goes after ansah

I had high hopes that Ogbah would be 'that guy" before the season started. In fact I stated that I thought Garrett would draw so much attention that Ogbah would end up leading the team in sacks. But then Garrett was out and had barely come back before Ogbah was lost for the season. Only the Browns have this kind of luck. Add Collins to the mix and down we went.

Injuries are going to happen. You need more depth in order to compete later in the season. And depth is something we seem to lack, year in an out. And that's pretty much why teams go for the best player no matter his position. After addressing the QB, I'm hoping we do something similar. Maybe get a bona fide playmaker or 2 doing that. Depth? Playmakers? Talent?.....(sigh), Dorsey's right

What a surprise the Can't miss, Once in a generation, China Doll didn't make the Pro Bowl, what a waste.

Not unless the stars don't tag DeMarcus Lawrence. I looked thru the list of all 2018 FA's..
Ansah and Jernigan - signed. Sheldon Richardson is underwhelming but will probably be re-signed by Seattle because they traded picks for him.
If Junior Gallette is the answer, "setting the edge in the run game" is not the question.. He's a situational pass-rusher looking for a deal at age 30 with not one but two recent season-ending Achilles' injuries.
Lotulelei will be available as an expensive backup to Trevon Coley.
Sharif Floyd's knee will end his career..
Then we might have to go the bullrushing DT route to twin Shelton so at least we have more than one true pass rushing force to deal with. Can't defend 3 at a time.

You like Wilkins from Clemson at all?
Funny you ask - saw his video tab vs Auburn pop up while watching Mo Hurst and my ADD kicked in. Paused 'Mo to see what all the hype was about. I'm going to watch more but for all these Clemson fans making Wilkins sound like the next Gerald McCoy... he sure as hell didn't look the part.

Haven't seen Clemson at all since last year's playoffs, but remember his name being called quite a bit. He won DLOTY, so he's gotta be doing something right.

Well said! I think we're looking at next year for some of his get-off to return closer to normal than him playing through an injury he keeps re-aggravating.
IMO, he'll get much better recuperation this off-season ahead than he had throughout this past off-season (that consisted of training to be the 1st overall pick) and then acing the workouts to impress. Part of the reason he didn't want to do his pro day workout was because the high ankle sprain he played through in 2016 was never really given much time to heal. However, he was convinced to do the pro day workout so the rest and recuperation would have to wait.
Just our luck, Ogbah was starting to play some great DE when he hurt his foot. I think PFF had him as the #1 ranked DE against the run while he was getting some good heat on QBs. It would be nice to get these 2 guys back at full strength next year.
Tom, dude, you live in a fantasy world. Rest is not going to have any affect on a kid who has been consistently missing games because of his ankles. He had a long off season after college. it didn't help him. This kid BLOWS............... he is to DEs what you buddies Phil Sewage and Romeo the Doughnut were to execs. Garrett isn't going anywhere. This is as good as it gets for him. He will never be as young, strong or as healthy as he is right now. Humanity doesn't work that way. Doesn't matter how young you are, when you injure something over and over and over, it never heals like new. There is always calcification, loss of motion, and increasing weakness. Staying off of it 6 months is not going to make it more flexible.
We had this same debate over that other piece of schidt Kellen Micro Fracture.
I know you lover the Browns man, but this Garrett kid is toast. He won't ever be anything more than he is now.

if he continues to injure the same ankle or whatever it was, that will be an issue...he could be on track to be just another courtney brown....only time will tell...then there is glass hands coleman...one more hand injury he'll be out of the nfl...

Myles Garrett was a horrific waste of a #1 #1 pick. At #1 #1 a player should be dynamic, fortune changing, highlight film making. This guy is none of that. Coleman, likewise, given the other talent at WR that was available was a big waste of a draft pick. But these are the kinds of fuktards that Flugel likes.

Just be quiet about garrett already. We get it u dont like him. U maybend up beingbright about his durability but u torpedo ur cred when u go after his skillset. It shows u dont know the nuances of the game. Bosa's stats here "might" be better but not by a whole lot because we know who's on the opp side of bosa. In response to that you've made the assertion that basically having ogbah opp garrett is the same situation as bosa has with ingram. Which utterly showcases ur lack of knowledge about the defensive side of the ball.
I dont know why u cant just stfu about garrett for a season or two. If he ir's his way out of the league than fine, u suspicions were right and u can say "i was right". People who said "the exact same sht" about clowney, who'svinjury was FAR worse....now have to eat sht

And yet the DC keeps moving him each game to 3 different places in the DL to "hide" him from all the double/triple teamers he seems to attract on a regular basis from opposing team OCs. Yeah that identifies him as a bust all right. Do you even get the intricacies of this game?

not on the defensive side. Ghoolie knows stuff about other stuff, but when it comes to how the players execute at their position no...ghoolie has no idea except what the stats read at the end of the game.

I agree with you, and I love your point about Clowney. Even if Clowney doesn't have the gaudy "sack numbers", anyone that knows football and watches him play understands how much of a disruptive force he's become. Clowney was SEVERELY hurt his first year and even went through the dreaded "micro-fracture surgery" which some believed would ultimately cost him his career. It makes me happy to see the guy doing well and living up to his billing. There's not much more that breaks my heart than wasted potential.
Myles Garrett will be fine, and perhaps "great". It's fair to say that he hasn't had the type of season many of us (including me) envisioned for him, but he has been injured, and he's played THROUGH those injuries for the most part. Even when that a-hole for the Chargers held him and almost broke his ankle, Myles came back in. Before the season started, I predicted Garrett would have 8 sacks this season. Technically, there's still a chance he could get there, but I think he WOULD'VE been there if not for some freak injury a couple dang days before our season opener. Then you add in Ogbah's injury, and it just didn't work out for him. That being said, I believe he's still terrific against the run (I don't have the stats to back this up, so I could be wrong. Just going by my eyes).
This is not to say that Myles doesn't deserve SOME level of criticism. The best pass rushers in the game almost always get chipped, double-teamed, chop-blocked, and schemed around, yet THEY figure out ways to make the plays when they matter at times. Myles hasn't made "that" play yet. Like when Bosa sacked Kizer, or Clay Matthews hitting Kizer's arm to win the game (essentially). But here's something else to consider: Myles Garrett doesn't get to PLAY AGAINST KIZER. Garrett doesn't get to rush a 21 year-old kid who holds onto the ball way to long and has the situational awareness of a cucumber. Again, I'm not making excuses for the guy, as I said he deserves SOME level of criticism (perhaps), but Bosa shouldn't have gotten that sack-fumble. Kizer had ample time to tuck and run out of bounds, throw it to Devalve, or just toss it out of bounds. Clay Matthews shouldn't have hit Kizer's arm because Kizer had MORE than enough time to throw it away. You see what I mean? Case Keenum isn't going to make that mistake. Joe Flacco isn't going to make that mistake, etc, etc.
Now, next game Myles DOES get to play against a rookie QB. The difference is, Mitch Trubisky isn't known to hold the ball too long, throw constant picks in the red zone, or make as many awful plays. Has Mitch screwed up some? Oh yeah, he definitely has, and maybe...just maybe...Myles can make "that play" this week against the Bears. Myles was close against the Ravens...believe it or not. Remember that pass he deflected on the quick WR screen? All he needed was a little luck and for the ball to pop up in the air closer to him, and nobody would catch Myles Garrett, that I can promise you. Yeah I know those plays are rare, but we've seen them happen. He was close, maybe it happens Sunday.
