This practice never occurred to me. If true, it's going to rock the sports-media world.

Mel Kiper has greased pockets. That’s why the big board always has some whaaaaat names. I had an agent promise to get me atop his big board.

  • Wouldn't it be more of a situation where an agent greases Kiper's pockets? An agent gives Kiper a plain envelope full of cash to put his player on his Big Board with the hope that teams pay attention?

  • This wouldnt surprise me one bit.... Kiper has an impeccable record for being "WRONG"

  • It would be pathetic if true.    And it would cause the convening of a grand jury to investigate fraud and corruption...just as it did with the Payola Scandal.

Of course...that scandal caused the demise of Alan Freed.    If it was shown that a guy like Kiper was doing it....then he would suffer the same fate as Freed.....and never be allowed to work in that business again.

Eh, I wouldn't say he's right or wrong as much as anyone else who does that stuff for a living. It's more that he's the public face of draft stuff so his "wrong" projections ring loudest. The vast majority of the time though it's not like he has a guy slated well above where everyone else does.

  • For a name like Kiper to do this would be shocking, but more disturbing to me is how prevalent something could be that I'd not even considered to be in existence.
