  • Orlando Brown OL from OK had horrible 40s. Maylock says that not one OL in past combines back to 2003 who has run 5.7 or worse has ever had a career in the NFL. Brown's best was 5.77. With 14 reps in the bench, things look like Sheet for him.

Mike Golic said that his numbers were surprisingly bad.   Polian downplayed the absolute importance of these measurables..but did say that, nevertheless, these things should be within an established norm for people at various positions.  He said that though bad measurables like this are not "red flags"...they are "amber flags"....which would require more scrutiny of the player.  Of course he said there are outliers...but that you don't make your living as an NFL pro personell man on outliers.

  • Cal-His second run was 5.77-still pretty bad though.

3.77 would be like Usain Bolt fast wouldn't it? 😆  I assume you meant  5.77.

at that State Farm all star competition, he looked a big step slow - and I mentioned at RT he was pretty iffy, more like an OG.

one reported time was 5.86. That isn't good. Hernandez ran an unofficial 5.14 ??? and he was 340 at the senior bowl, but lost about 20 lbs for the combine?  at that same competiton, Hernandez seems like he could flip the large tractor tire with one hand. geez.

    from SBNation:

    0-yard dash

    Who helped themselves:

Will Hernandez of UTEP, an interior lineman really showed off his speed despite his large size at 327 pounds with an unofficial 5.14

    Who didn’t help themselves:

    • Oklahoma’s Orlando Brown ran an unofficial 5.86.

then, check this out - Hernandez. a powerful OG, ....

Oklahoma's Orlando Brown ran the 40-yard dash in 5.85 seconds, the 5th-slowest time by any player at the Combine since 2003

I wonder who the 4 players are that were slower in that time...and if any of them did anything in the league...or were they washouts?

  • Where the hell is Tour when you need him?  OL is his expertise.

This Skyler kid has a decent kick step.

Back when his dad played for Browns the first time he was here during our 11-5 season plus a playoff W over NE - they were trying load up the barbell in the squat rack with over 800 lbs or something outrageous like that. Belichick shut it down saying - you've already proven how strong you are - we don't need to lose you to injury in the weight room. I read that in the Browns News Illustrated once upon a time. Anyway, we ran the ball down the opponents' esophagus (with Leroy Hoard) that year inclusive of playoff fronts in Philly (with Jerome Brown, Clyde Simmons and Reggie White) and Dallas.  He was a badass run blocker IMO.  Like any other young RT, he occasionally had heavy feet in pass pro.  He wasn't quite the same guy when he came back to us from Ratville.

The interesting thing here is the UNDRAFTED Orlando Brown SR was a brute in the weight room while his son/JR showed up to the combines high ranked hoping he'd just country strong his way through things.  Not good.  Despite the same genes - the difference is 1 guy felt entitled while the other was driven to prove himself.  The good news if there is any - he has the rest of March, April, May, June, and most of July to giddy-up and get after it.

Problem is he had from Jan to Mar and all those years at OK to get ready. Compare that to how Garrett prepared from HS on and was a combine killer.

    Pass.

    I'll correct it.

    Aggs-actly!

Speaking of which, I'm watching the combines wearing my t-shirt that reads "I LOVE EXERCISE I CAN WATCH IT ALL DAY"

  • Here comes the 40 we all need to see...

  • PoG - just a heads up, in my mind, you owe me a beer because that was an easy (non) bet.

    4.41... Like I said he would - mid 4.4's.

    @tiamat63 said:

Let me make myself clear... he's not running a sub 4.4.  Nevermind range.    4.4 will be his lowest.

I'll be here all week, make sure to tip your waitress.

double edit:   Threw down $ on a prop bet on Bovada.   Easy cash, boys.

FWIW, the official time is usually even slower than the unofficial times so that 4.4 might be spot on.

  • Barkley stuns once again.

Freaking take this kid! please! If he's  there at 4 and we don't take him we're stupid.

Glad to hear he is just taking a break.

  • I like how DJ and Maylock were comparing Michel to Kamara. And Penny can really fly too. Some good backs gonna be there in rd 2.

  • I was amazed - Michel was pumping iron, Barkley was pumping iron.... interesting.

and...how many reps on the bench press did Orlando do? 14 or something like that?

How can you possibly not support Barkley at 4?? I think you are going to be pretty pissed because I  convinced we are taking him at 1 and a QB at 4 or later.

There are some good backs for sure but there is one GENERATIONAL game changer

Then why wasn't his yds/carry much better? Michel's at 7.9 this year were off the charts.

    Just not buying.
