Well.....one other thing that this history tells us is that Dorsey is not bothered by "The Big 12 QB Curse"...   ergo.....Dorsey will apparently not hesitate to take a Big 12 QB.   So...Mayfield could be in play.

Not sure though what Dorsey's feeling is about the "size" issue.

Size issue is being over exaggerated by the so called experts......2 or 3 inches is nothing ...its not like we are considering drafting Tyrion Lannister

I will take Tyrion with the #1 pick......and then take Drogon with the #4 pick.   Imagine what kind of a defender he could be.

And with the first pick in round two...I will take The Dothraki Horde.

What has Mahomes done but drink Gatorade?

    Mahomes will be a bust.

That remains to be seen.  Do you have anything to go by other than:  A.  Your gut feeling...which means nothing...and B.  that he is a Big 12 guy?

Because he has a big arm and is a downfield big bomb QB.

The NFL is more short passing because there isnt time to wait for the homerun.

How do we know that Dorsey was forced to take Mahomes and that is the reason why he left KC.

Thats how these NFL GMs wind up quitting because they get over ruled in the draft room.

    We now rent to own a playoff QB in Tyrod Taylor..maybe not the best? but let's look at the rest & find our #1 pick(or just throwing chit at the wall can't hurt)..A) Nick Foles was the tallest at 6'5" 243lbs. age 29..B)Newton, C)Ben & D)Bortles all 6'5" Ben 240 age 36//Newton 245 age 28//Bortles 236 age 25..The majority are all 6'4" F)A.Smith 217 age 33.G)J.Goff 223 age 23. H)M.Ryan 217 age 32. I)M.Mariota 222 age 24 J)T.Brady 225 age 40..Now moving to the runts😉 K)T.Taylor 6'1" 215lbs. age 28. L)C.Keenum 6"1" 207 age 30.M 4$)D.Brees 6"0" 209lbs. age 39....Now which one of the these top 3-4 draftable QB's at Browns #1 pick 1st)has best chance to compete with Tyrod next season? 2nd.)May fall into talent pool above in a year but starting in year 2?   3rd)who do you see him becoming from above if anybody?   A)Rosen 6'4" 218 age 21 B)Darnold 6'4" 220 age 20 C)Mayfield 6'1" 215 age 22 D)Allen 6'5" 240 age 21

Now which one of the these top 3-4 draftable QB's at Browns #1 pick

    • 1st)has best chance to compete with Tyrod next season?
    • 2nd.)May fall into talent pool above in a year but starting in year 2?
    • 3rd)who do you see him becoming from above if anybody?

    A)Rosen 6'4" 218 age 21 B)Darnold 6'4" 220 age 20 C)Mayfield 6'1" 215 age 22 D)Allen 6'5" 240 age 21

Sometime a little spacing helps... 😉

    1. A. Rosen; Honorable Mention to C. Mayfield
    2. C. Mayfield and B. Darnold
    3. A. Rosen can become A. Rodgers... that worked out nicely. B. Darnold could be B. Bortles... that worked, too. C. Mayfield could be C. Keenum... I'm on a roll... D(umb as a bag of rocks). Allen? Pass... 😉

agree on all accounts.. but I feel Rosen is 3a)in A.Smith/M.Ryan camp?..3b)Darnold bodied at Bortles with better accuracy of Keenum maybe? 3c)Mayfield i got Tyrod waiting for Brees to happen..Anywho we can't get much worse than the 3 headed suck monsters since McCown

I can see Rosen/Ryan, but I think Josh is much more cerebral and that's what gets me to Rosen/Rodgers. Smith? Maybe, but Smith's mobility is more Darnold-ish.

Darnold/Keenum? Not ready to go there... Besides lacking the body matchup, you have to remember that Bortles' accuracy in college rivaled Darnold's. Blake did not transition well... I think there's a big question about Sam's transition as well. #mediocrefloor 😉

  • It wasn't that long ago when Dorsey looked to free agency to find a QB that didn't take many risks or turn the ball over frequently via Alex Smith.  All of a sudden a team that was previously going nowhere in spite of having 5 or 6 Pro Bowl players began winning more frequently to a playoff caliber after the arrival of a football smart QB.   Well, he brought the exact same philosophy here when he signed a FA QB that had a 3 year completion % of 62.7 with the following TD to INT ratios: 20:6 in 2015 (Pro Bowl), 17:6 in 2016, and 14:4 in 2017.  When you don't turn the ball over the red zone - it helps you win those close game we just couldn't.

So what comes after signing the veteran FA QB?   Drafting the QB in round 1 where Dorsey drafted a polarizing/ promising young QB he felt would be a great investment with the right blend time and patience learning from a veteran.    TT is pretty similar to Alex; but the difference here is we can either draft a QB at #1 overall or #4 overall vrs KC needing to trade up to #10 to get Patrick Myhomies...  In essence, the brief Alex Smith tenure benefited all parties from the FO to the HC to Alex Smith to the ability to qualify for playoffs while they didn't have to race a rookie QB with so much to learn before he was ready.  The only thing left is to see if they drafted the right QB for their plans.

That all bring us to where we are right now. We added the FA QB while we discuss the varying opinions of the best QB to draft for our situation in round 1.  The kid KC selected had many things to get excited about while he also had some things to be concerned with.  He really intrigued me last year but not enough to favor him over Watson and Trubisky.  I almost forgot I had Trubisky rated neck and neck with Watson because I was always defending Watson to the Trubisky only camp.  In saying all that, I never felt like either guy was the best player in the draft.  I felt that player was Myles Garrett not to be confused with A defensive end or A QB.  If you can't NAME the dude in lieu of the position - do you REALLY think the player you are so reluctant to name is the best player in the draft?  Think about it - especially since there's only 2 picks between 1 and 4...  Dorsey knows what he's doing; and he's not going to make us wait until round 4 if he doesn't draft a QB at #1 overall.

He'll end up back in Wyoming on a ranch fine tuning with a pitchfork in exchange for his tuning fork.😛

And Kizer didn't???  He could throw the long ball anywhere down the field, but you don't believe he needed fine tuning.  I guess we'll just have to find out over the years at Green Bay.  Again, not to mention he's only 20.
