Anybody concerned about this? When will the bubble burst.....or will it?  http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000998860/article/nfl-salary-cap-for-2019-projected-at-187m1911m

The salary cap is once again going up.

The NFL announced Tuesday that projections for the 2019 salary cap are in the range of $187 million to $191.1 million -- a decent increase over the 2018 cap of $177.2 million per club.

There has been a 40 percent increase in the salary cap since the 2014 season ($133 million) and it would be the sixth consecutive year the cap is projected to climb more than $10 million per club year over year.

According to the league, total projected player costs, including benefits, are projected at more than $7.3 billion in 2019.

The final salary-cap figure will be revealed in the months ahead before free agency officially begins on March 13.

Concerned?  No.   But I do wonder what room the Browns will have under this new cap.  That is something we would like to know in the future.

Oh, you can do a little projection from Spotrac. Browns cap room roughly $66.7 million, still most in the NFL. Enough to sign any free agent (or two) Dorsey thinks is worth the money.

But as I've said a bunch of times, you just can't be thinking 2019. Need to bank some of that cap space for the future. Like when Garrett, Ward, and Mayfield (especially  Baker, assuming he keeps playing at the current level) come off their rookie deals.

Still needs to be good spending -- substantively better than what we already have.  For example, Coley is the same player as Malcom Brown but earns millions less.

Two guys I would target in FA and aim to get one: Trey Flowers from NE and Brandon Graham from PHI.  Ogbah is just not getting it done -- he's PFF's 90th ranked edge this season..  On offense I'd dip again into the OT market with Trent Brown [and maybe jawuan james] - and cut Hubbard.

I'd be curious if it would be feasible to move Greg Robinson to RT for next season, if an upgrade could be found at LT?

2014 to 2019 and $133M to ~$190M salary cap.....while NFL viewership including the super bowl is going down, down, down. No cause for concern?

Plus I've read how much season tickets are going up, up, up (Cleveland has near the cheapest tickets -but- they've had a lousy team).

I also don't think the owners are taking a hit in any of this.

Is attending professional sporting events becoming a more and more well to do event? Is it cheaper to tailgate and then head to a bar?

I'd expect Haslam to bump ticket prices up at least $5 next year. To his credit, he hasn't raised prices in a couple years.  It's not "near" cheapest tickets BTW- they ARE the cheapest average prices in the NFL.  Teams like the Patriots are double what the Browns are charging.

Well, a lot of the Ohio State guys don't go to the game, just Tailgate, watch the game on TV from the lot and then go home. Of course, not going to the game is cheaper. You'd have to pound down at least 8-10 beers at the bar just to equal the price of a cheap ticket.
