And one of my favorite times of the year, bowl season isn't too far away, so what do you think?  The top 4 have been there for weeks now we'll see what happens this week.

College Football Playoff rankings predictions: Semifinals

Here's how I think the final CFP rankings will look.

    • No. 1 Alabama vs. No. 4 LSU (Peach Bowl)
    • No. 2 Ohio State vs. No. 3 Clemson (Fiesta Bowl)

The Alabama-LSU rematch might want to be avoided if possible, but if LSU loses a close one to the Tide on the road, the 11-1 Tigers would have a strong case — maybe even the best out of all the 1-loss teams.  Beating Auburn, Texas and Florida would do that.

As for the other semifinal, if Ohio State and Clemson both go undefeated, the Buckeyes would have a better collection of wins: Cincinnati, Wisconsin, Penn State, Michigan and then the Big Ten West champion in the Big Ten Championship Game.

College Football Playoff rankings predictions: New Year's Six games

This is what I think the games will be at season's end. This isn't based off what the rankings will be on Tuesday.

    • Sugar Bowl: Oklahoma vs. Georgia
    • Rose Bowl: Penn State vs. Utah
    • Orange Bowl: Wake Forest vs. Florida
    • Cotton Bowl: Baylor vs. Memphis
    • Peach Bowl (semifinal): No. 1 Alabama vs. No. 4 LSU
    • Fiesta Bowl (semifinal): No. 2 Ohio State vs. No. 3 Clemson
    • National Championship Game: No. 1 Alabama vs. No. 2 Ohio State

What an awful CFP for the majority of people. The same teams plus an SEC rematch? Sounds terrible

Welcome to the "new" South after decades of population shift to the South and West.   The SEC rocks man!

(oh thank goodness for at least Ohio State, ND is no big help anymore)

Just to remember what they thought the 2019 season might look like -but- now we're into November and the final shakeout..

......Clemson is the national champion, but Alabama has stood atop the coaches poll for three straight years. Though the powerhouse programs are expected to open at first and second nationally, which team will claim the top spot in 2019?

As always, consider the preseason polls an "initial expectation" list. They hardly mean anything by October, but they shape perception of many programs for the upcoming season.

Amway Poll Prediction......only 4 BIG TEN?

    1. Clemson
    2. Alabama
    3. Ohio State
    4. Georgia
    5. Oklahoma
    6. LSU
    7. Michigan....checked out, still might give Ohio State a test on 11-30
    8. Texas
    9. Florida
    10. Notre Dame
    11. Texas A&M
    12. Washington
    13. Oregon
    14. Penn State.....still hanging around, for now
    15. Auburn
    16. Utah
    17. Mississippi State
    18. Syracuse
    19. Iowa State
    20. Wisconsin
    21. Stanford
    22. Washington State
    23. UCF
    24. Boise State
    25. Missouri

Well....after the first CFP ranking, the Top 4 would be OSU/Alabama/LSU/Penn St.    But, in the next couple of weeks LSU/ALa and OSU/PSU go head to head.  Here are the only rankings that count, for now:

College Football Playoff Rankings, Nov. 5

    1. Ohio State (8-0)
    2. LSU (8-0)
    3. Alabama (8-0)
    4. Penn State (8-0)
    5. Clemson (9-0)
    6. Georgia (7-1)
    7. Oregon (8-1)
    8. Utah (8-1)
    9. Oklahoma (7-1)
    10. Florida (7-2)
    11. Auburn (7-2)
    12. Baylor (8-0)
    13. Wisconsin (6-2)
    14. Michigan (7-2)
    15. Notre Dame (6-2)
    16. Kansas State (6-2)
    17. Minnesota (8-0)
    18. Iowa (6-2)

It will be nice after this week to see the differences in the polls.  Ohio State is in a "win out" #1 seed position but a few tough games before that.

Every one of these teams, essentially is in a win out situation.

Let's put it this way:   Clemson is getting in because they ain't losing because they do not play anyone the rest of the year of the sort that the  other contenders play.

The winners of those 2 games:  LSU/ALa, and OSU/PSU obviously have an inside track to the playoffs.  So that would likely solidify a chance at a spot for 3 teams.

So, lets either OSU or Penn State wins out.  And the loser has just the one loss.  Should the loser still be considered, if the loser also wins out.

And obviously an undefeated SEC team will get in.  But what if  each of   Alabama/LSU/Georgia each has one loss? Should the SEC get two.  And what if say  Alabama beats LSU, or vice versa, and that team beats Georgia in the SEC title game?  Does the LSU/Ala. one loss team get in?

Can ORegon slip in there, if they win out.    Highly possible, even probable, they have AZ  AZ St. and Oregon St.  plus Pac 12 title game.

But, what if Baylor wins out?  and is undefeated.  Could they slip in?  But they still have Texas, TCU, and Oklahoma to play.  Not seeing it

But you could see a one loss OK have a chance.

And what if, by some chance,   Minnesota goes undefeated?  But they still play Penn St. , Iowa, and Wisconsin  (so...not happening)

And what about Utah? They should have winnable games, but then they could have a big showdown with Oregon in that Pac 10 title game. If they win out and win that game....that is a big win.

    Lots of interesting scenarios.

Lots and lots. It "kinda" used to be that if you were the current #1 team and kept winning you held on to your position and seed that's currently Ohio State.

Another thing too it's still a little while before the conference championships will be held and there can be a few big upsets or blowouts and give you a more expected 1234 ending.  It's almost like you think you know who should win......the usual suspects.

But there are a few strange games in the B1G left a big one is if Michigan can get their long awaited upset vs Ohio State, if not OSU moves on to the B1G title and final 4.

Minnesota can be the big spoiler, what if they can beat the 7 point favorite PSU in Minnesota? If Michigan beats OSU then the B1G is in turmoil.  If not it's business as usual and OSU moves on PSU probably o-u-t.  Should be an interesting month right through Thanksgiving.  Can't wait.

I think I would reserve the draft talk for at least a couple of more Browns games.   If they cack up furballs in tomorrow's then Thursday's game,  then the draft talk can be on....(as it seems that it always is).

Still....watching that LSU/Bama game would allow to see a lot of potential talent.  I am going to try to watch it just for the sake of the game itself, but sure, with a peripheral view on the draftable talent.

You didn't say anything about Joe Burrows?  (not for the Browns, but just for the draft in general)

My Saturday college football viewing selections this weekend. A few games of some interest none really earthshaking but maybe interesting.

3 PM WBCB TV, YSU (5-4) at the South Dakota Coyotes (3-6) in a nice warm dome.  YSU basically choked up on a couple of games this year but can finish (8-4) and hope for a playoff spot in the best conference in FCS.

    The rest:

I would think that a  #1 vs. #2 game (AP ranking)  would constitute "earthshaking" generally, no?

The reason why my post belongs in the college forum till then ?.. pick#1 comes down to Bengals not giving up the #1 pick. And the sole reason why Dalton was benched for drafted rookie they took last season.. Ryan Findley was inserted..Joe's going back to Ohio imho.. as is ,,,,#2 Skins pick LT? #3 Jets-BPA not QB #4. Miami- left with Tua? #5 Atl. #6NYG #7 Browns? should drop #10 to #15?

Maybe not, 2/3 or 1/2 unless one gets really blown out.  Close game maybe they just switch positions or stay as is..... besides SEC x2 doesn't thrill me.
