Lol i think its more a matter of BQs work ethic being more sound than DAs and BQs desire to express to the coaches ,players and fans that he wants to be the teams leader and will do whatever it takes to get this team up and winning... 😉

Two of DAs biggest problems are he is kinda laid back and hard headed...either he doesnt see the big picture of BQ gaining extra favor with mangini by being a workaholic or DA thinks he has the start in a bag or just doesnt care either way being he already recieved his big payday......hehehehe

My guess is if BQ doesnt get the start his agent will almost immediately demand a trade to where if BQ gets the start DA sits on the bench overpaid without as much as a whimper awaiting his chance to try and steal back the job... 😉

or it could be that he has a home in CLE, his family is about an hour away, and 12 Mil hangs in the balance...

he won't be going anywhere until 70% of the starts are gone whether he's the initial starter or not. as EJ would say mark it down.

My guess is this is the closest post to the truth.

He's pretty much only got this one chance to get that starting job with the Browns. He came out of Notre Dame "the most NFL ready QB in years" and hasn't made much of a mark except with some fans.. Puttin' in some overtime to not lose his legendary status.

To be fair, the same staff he did "not make much of a mark" with couldn't:

    blitz the QB,

stop teams from running the ball,

didn't know the Cin game in '07 clinched a spot,

couldn't line up for a 2 min offense,

    couldn't challenge a call,

couldn't get Jerome the ball more,

had to swtich to Quinn mid-season,

couldn't get the ball into Joshua's hands more,

had problems with a prima donna TE and WR,

..........and couldn't beat the Steelers - ever!

I don't think I'd put a whole lot of weight into what Quinn showed or did not show to the previous regime.

You know, just 'cause DA's not playing "high profile" during the summer doesn't mean he's definitely sitting on his ass. Last summer I saw the same crap being posted, and when he came back his teammates were commenting on his abs, there were observations that he seemed quicker, and 'til the concussion there were many saying he obviously had worked on his short game and looked to be the best QB on the team.

We don't know if he's sitting back or not at this point.

Granted I don't think it means much to either one either way. As Zombo said, it's who ever executes the offense and throws better in the preseason that will determine this.

But if you want to make comments about what Brady being in Berea means. with snide remarks about his "legendary status". Then anyone else is free to make comments about what DA being MIA means.

missing in action?!? ridiculous posts JADBF.

don't make this about DA like so many of you always love to do.

to me BQ's voluntary attendance reflects a desire to work on inadequacies he apparently feels he has. don't paint him a hero (or make others the inverse) because everyone else isn't doing the same.

the vets don't need to report for another week, don't crucify them for having a life for a couple weeks outside of a 9+ month NFL season.

besides, Derek doesn't surrender 12 MIL if he doesn't start 70% of the games...BQ does.

    Exactly...

We know where DA has been this summer, he's been on the golf course, and of course teammates are going to say the right things last summer, he was already crowned the starter by the brass, so nobody is going to knock DA in the press last year.

Face it, Quinn is 100% more hard working that DA's lazy goofy ass.

If I had the type of year DA had last year concussion or not I'd keep my ass in Berea making sure it doesn't happen again.

Once again, last year there were posters on this board, maybe the same ones, making a big deal of DA supposedly spending his summer at the golf course and at home. Well, golf must be one heck of a preparer for the NFL game because he came back more prepared than most expected. I'm not saying Quinn is not a hard worker, but I am saying those who say DA's sitting on his "lazy goofy ass" might not know what they're talking about.

woodwork? i would say that about anyone, not just DA. you tried to make Quinn showing up for extra work a nock on others, plain and simple.

moronic? i disagree. i think comprehending that if he doesn't get 70% of the snaps as starter he loses the 12 MIL is completely fundamental.

but you can make him the hero, i'm sure he can coach the guys through Daboll and Mangini's playbook better than they can at this point. hell, it's been a couple of months now. or he just likes the company. right.

someone living so close to the facility with so much riding on his success personally should be expected to be doing what he's doing. anything else would look like he doesn't care. still, his situation has no bearing on what others should be doing.

Sorry, as much as I think DA is never going to improve, I can't buy that the guy has packed it up and is simply collecting a paycheck. If, hypothetically, he starts and has a great year, he will get a very large payday one way or another next offseason.

I got news for you. Anderson has a lot riding on this as well if he wants to be a winner. If he really wanted to be the leader of this team his ass would be at camp, not at some restaurant in downtown Portland.

Leave it to a DA poser to write that the only reason Quinn is there is for the bonus. The only reason he studies, lifts, works out, and doesn't take time off is because he wants the bonus? Has nothing to do with the fact that he is a hard worker and hungry to make the team a winner, right?

Sisky, you're being as big a jackass as those you are trying to correct.

The balanced view here should give Quinn proper credit for being there. Period. Its a bigger statement than not being there. Should much be read into it? Probably not.

But to try and spin it that Quinn is there because of inadequacies is stupid. He's there to compete and win the job. Its what you want any player to do.

Put it another way, if Shawn Rogers was there would you be saying its because he's trying to justify his contract or because he feels inadequate?

    Weak Sisky, really weak.

  • Perhaps this is a benefit of Quinn being an Ohio native. Close enough to workout and still see family and friends. On the other hand, being this close, he has no excuse not to if he really wants the gig.

Man, starting to get the itch to order SuperFan. Mmmmmmm.

Quinn and Braylon live about 5 minutes apart from each other up in Avon Lake, about 30-40 minutes away from Berea. Not sure where DA lives in the offseason, Oregon? Big Z lives in that same city as Quinn and Braylon as well.

But if you SUCKED EGGS and still want to take that time off, well then you'll have to put up with morons like me being disapointed in your lack of dedication to MY CLEVELAND BROWNS.

I couldn't agree more. I understand the players want to spend time with their families but with camp getting close I'd put that on hold and take some pride as a pro athlete and get into camp to start working right away. The sooner I could get into camp and start working with my teammates I would do it. I would want to start and get the taste of a extremely disappointing season out of my mouth. Wasn't it Braylon who jokingly said the season 14 months long in a leap year? It'd be nice if they all REALLY felt that way.

It's definitely a possibility. Why not? Does anyone really thingk that they believe they can be a contenter with Sage or Tavaris at the helm? I would hope nobody could believe that! Especially now, after they have tried all they could do to bring in an ancient (in football years) QB who is coming off one of his worst seasons in his career and who was a major reason (if not THE reason) for the Jets' collapse and the susequent firing of Mangini last year. Those 2 QB's know for fact that the Vikings have no faith in them! They are doomed in Minnesota. And the Vikings are left without a true leader under center. Coincidentally, DA is probably done here in Cleveland. Our offense is geared (alledgedly) away from his game. But Minnesota's offense would fit him much better. They had a mild interest in him before. Now their choices are slim and none. DA could become their next QB. It is very possible. But, who knows?!

If you're the Vikings, who do you know more about - Sage Rosenfels or Brady Quinn? I doubt DA would work well in that offensive style.
