Browns vs. Jets Data Points
-
Here are some data points respecting the Browns next opponent:
1. Browns lead the all time series 14-12.
2. The Browns and Jets have had one common Head Coach in their histories: Eric Mangini
3. Josh McCown and Vinny Testaverde are QBs who lead the Jets in passing for at least one season who also played for the Browns
4. Isaiah Crowell who led the Jets in rushing for one season also played for the Browns.
5. Braylon Edwards who led the Jets in receiving for a season also played for the Browns.
6. The Browns and Jets have met one time in postseason. Browns won that game 23-20 in double OT after the 1986 season where Bernie Kosar threw for a record 489 yards in a postseason game, a record that held up for over 30 years until Brady beat it in that SB game vs. Atlanta.
7. Players that went to the Pro Bowl for the Jets who also played for the Browns: Vinny Testaverde, Tom Tupa, Sheldon Richardson
8. Jet First round draft picks that also played for the Browns: Sheldon Richardson...with Browns currently
9. The Jets played their first 4 seasons in the Polo Grounds in Manhattan NYC as a member of the AFL
10. At that time they were called the Titans....and they were given that name by the owner because he said: "Titans are bigger and stronger than Giants" referring to NY's NFL team.
11. They were renamed The Jets when they moved over to Queens to play in Shea Stadium. The name Jets came from the fact that the stadium was right under the flight path of planes flying into LaGuardia airport.
12. The Jets have the 3rd longest Super Bowl appearance drought....behind only the Browns and the Lions. Their last appearance, of course being in the fabled Super Bowl III.
13. Their owner Woody Johnson, has not been active for the team these last 4 years as he had another job to do: Ambassador to the United Kingdom. But he will soon be giving that up with a new administration. Maybe his absence is part of the reason they have sucked so much lately.

Not for nothin' but the Jets just beat the Rams. And they have a very tough DLine.
...and they would've beaten the Raiders had it not been for a dumb defensive call by Greg-g-g Williams, whom they don't have to worry about any more because they fired him after making that call.
The team has to buckle down, get the film, study, focus and practice....
This is one of my Must Win games when looking at the schedule before game #1.
