The guy went out looking for a Wal-Mart and found himself on a football team.

Now I'm Lost.. ?.. 9 days later he's back.. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/02/20/browns-re-sign-robert-jackson/ .. Mary Kay wants answers
-
Maybe we wanted to keep him but not at what he was making. If he wasn't keen on a reworked deal, cut him, if nobody claims him, his attitude about a new deal has changed.

fitting place to wrap-up the 2020 season... What grade you giving Andrew Berry in his first Season?

B...
More than anything else need to see him "do it again" with his focus on the D-side this time...
Loved this bit from the article's opening...
At the end of January of last year, Andrew Berry was announced as the new GM. A new nameplate was ordered for the office door, slid out of its slot which read “John Dorsey” on the exterior, and when flipped over it said “Sashi Brown” in engraved letters.

What really happened to Greedy Williams? from #26
-
Party at @jiggins7919 House ! ?
...
With the salary cap set to drop, the #Browns don't plan to tender CB and special teams ace Tavierre Thomas, source said. Thomas would've been a restricted free agent. Instead, he'll hit the market. Look for similar moves elsewhere. -

We are tendering TE Carlson and DE Gustin though.

Thought Gustin would get one, but Carlson surprises me. Must have made his bones on STs.
-
Exclusive rights FA is a contract for the veteran minimum.. aka the best production-for-$$ that it's possible to achieve at your TE4 and DE5 spots..
And given how fun the cap is this year, may end up the DE4.

Carlson and Gustin are no brainers for me.
Re: Carlson- has played well when he’s had the opportunity. He had a huge onside kick recovery. We also need TEs with our offensive scheme. I can’t see Njoku being a long term option and maybe not a short term either

More than a cup of coffee
.. Blake Hance is back... https://www.dawgsbynature.com/2021/3/8/22320153/cleveland-browns-reportedly-re-sign-blake-hance
fairly solid
LT - Wills, A.Taylor
LG - Bitonio, Hance
C - Tretter, Harris
RG - Teller, Forbes
RT - Conklin, Hubbard
Michael Dunn (ERFA) should be re-signed as well.
-
Released Adrian Clayborn - immediately saving $3M in cap [salary 3.5, 500k dead cap hit] and improving our performance vs the run by releasing him.
Signed Blake Hance on a 2-yr deal. Can't find terms although OTC is showing a vet minimum [660k per season] for 2y which seems decent value.

The Clayborn release caught me by surprise.

I think the "under contract" count is actually 14 now... with 2 of the additional OL being Lamm and Dunn, who both may be 2nd-teamers ahead of Taylor and Hance respectively.
Rostering even 10 OL would be a luxury... especially with Hubbard who we know can play inside or out, in the mix.

Berry has some work to do before Wednesday.. I did see that Kendall Lamm is a UFA.. WR- Khadarel Hodge is a RFA..He needs a draft round tender..(more cap money)
We have 3 remaining ERFA's in OL-Michael Dunn/Colby Gossett & LB- George Obinna.. They become Unrestricted if not picked up on by Wednesday..
My eyeballs bleed this morning seeing Ogun has a 9.3M market value from spotrac.. His name has not been seen in a top 150 of free agents ?
Will we keep all these guys
I think Callahan see's workable in Alex Taylor.. Been moved off & on our PS.. Callahan might have seen a "bad knee" Drew Forbes in Camp last season?.. Both will need a solid Camp & both could be upgraded.."In Callahan I Trust"
-
Didn't tender Tae Davis or Tavierre Thomas -- more in the "move not made" category but worth noting.
Poyer is one year sober. Internal knowledge of that could partly explain why we let him go..
-
Tendered KhaDarel Hodge - Salary would be 2.3/1yr. Seems decent value.

$2.3? What level is that?
I ask because it doesn't match any of the figures OTC lists... https://overthecap.com/a-quick-primer-on-nfl-free-agent-tenders/

That's what happens when you don't check the primary source material... Yep, 2.13 - the DBN article is inaccurate

Thanks... so is the basic, right-of-first-refusal tender.
