  • "Who controls the past controls the future" is a quote from George Orwell's 1949 novel, "1984." The novel describes a dystopian future, where all citizens are manipulated by a single political party. Orwell was writing when information was being controlled by a minority of people, and his novel contains references to Nazi Germany.

Jan 12, 2017 · Adolf Hitler, Mao Zedong (or Tse-tung), Josef Stalin, Pol Pot – names such as these haunt our cultural imaginations. These men were, by all available accounts, totalitarian dictators, who sought to maintain complete control over their respective governments and populations through radical methods, including the systematic murder and imprisonment of all …

I never quite understood the allure of looking at a rich man’s tax returns.

As someone who’s owned a tax business, I don’t think your average Citizen can grasp the complexity of the corporate tax code.

I’ll go out on a limb and guess that DJT was wealthy before, during, and after his stint as Prez.

The people that I would like to witness their tax returns, would be the career politicians (Schumer, Pelosi, and Biden come to mind).

So Cal why did Orwell's 1984 shoot up to the top five sellers on Amazon?  I'll tell you why. Because the parallels in that book to Donald J. Trump are scary...

Regarding January 6th... ‘Power is not a means; it is an end. One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes the revolution in order to establish the dictatorship.’

Ignorance Is Strength.’ So when the adviser to the President, Kellyanne Conway, tried to press the narrative that falsehoods (that would be around 30,000 of Trump's) could be called “alternative facts,” people were understandably alarmed. But not the MAGAs- lies are truth, truth is "FAKE NEWS!!!

  • But I can turn off my telescreen.

Regarding the bold, you are certainly correct.  However....

Because NY has reason to believe there was tax fraud going on. It's what sent Al Capone to Alcatraz. It's been well documented Trump was engaged in some shady deals all the way back to his Atlantic City days. Outside the realm of investigation now, as I'm sure you're aware. His financial (as well as civil and possible criminal woes) are just beginning. I'm not against anyone using any legal means to reduce their tax liability.   https://www.forbes.com/sites/danalexander/2020/10/19/trump-will-have-900-million-of-loans-coming-due-in-his-second-term-if-hes-reelected/?sh=3eb32d9c5f37    But one small fer instance- Trump's kids charging an outrageous rental for use of the Trump Hotel for the Inauguration. Even if it wasn't unethical, it sure was a conflict of interest.

It also begs the question- if he has nothing to hide, then why in the hell did Donnie fight it all the way to the Supreme Court?  (strike three, you're out) FWIW, Clinton, Bush, and Obama all have net worths on the high side of $40 million, and gee, no tax investigations there.

Al Capone was indicted and convicted of Tax fraud, FEDERAL tax fraud.    New York State would be a who different ball game.  And convicting a former President would be near impossible because you couldn't lock him up in a regular jail.  He knows too much and would have to be protected 24/7.  Another witch hunt by the TDS'ers who hate Trump and can't get him out of their heads.

Ah- We'll just have to see how this plays out-  it's early in the game.  Witch hunt? Hardly.  There would be nothing stopping NY forwarding info to the the Feds if they saw stuff that violated FEDERAL tax laws.  Personally- if everything turns out on the up and up for Trump- great. He's sure been reluctant to turn those returns over- assuming he's got nothing to hide. And I'm betting he sure as hell does.

And a follow up to Canton. Joe Schmoe isn't going to see those returns- they're part of a Grand Jury investigation. And average schmucks aren't going to be analyzing them either. That will be top level forensic accountants. BTW, there's stuff other than those tax returns that are subpoenaed too. Like his dealings with Deutsche Bank.

  • when? the NY hacks find NOTHING, I hope Pres Trump sues them for a billion dollars.

too bad these NY hacks won't investigate cuomo and the deaths from covid in senior citizen assisted living buildings.

You're absolutely insane. The parallels to the democrat party are frightening. The only parallel to trump is the democrat or ingsoc sponsored two minute hate for emmanuel goldstein (trump)

  • yes, I think he is, and he's still trolling to try to pick a fight with somebody so he can give them warning points and kick them off the board.

Feb 03, 2021 · Today I was reminded of Orwell's 1984 when I read an article in the @NYTimes calling for the creation of a Reality Czar. Orwell was a prophet! #Orwell1984 #Scifi," wrote a user named Sam.

Jan 25, 2021 · Kevin Dzuban is a very talented artist, and he gave me permission to publish a graphic he made comparing the nascent Biden administration to Orwell’s fictional world. Unlike the forced Obama comparison, the connection between our new Democrat rule (with total oligarch backing) and 1984’s Oceania, is direct, compelling, and frightening:

    Big Brother Obama: George Orwell's '1984' POTUS | Newsmax.com

Jun 11, 2013 · He is looking like the president with Orwellian "1984" on his mind, as Big Brother watches over us. He is downright dismaying the people who elected him president. It was rather disenchanting when Obama seemed to act a little wimpy — to borrow a word attributed to George H.W. Bush in the last century — during his first term.
