DESHAUN WATSON

He's coming off a shoulder injury and will shortly just now start throwing.
So instead of having three QBs in off-season camps and the beginning of Training Camp, they can have three plus Watson slowly (hopefully) rounding into shape. And as I've said often, shoulder injuries are tricky. The recovery process isn't always linear with shoulder injuries.
I think they learned their lesson after kind of going half-assed with their QB room at the beginning of last season.
Alot of "ifs"

Outside of the albatross contract the Watson situation is interesting. If they expect him to be ready why sign Winston, Huntley and still have DTR in the wings? That's a crowded room. Browns getting ready to give Watson the Wilson treatment?

I doubt it, for this season at least. Next year could be different.
I think the QB's are two fold.
1. They are going to want to manage throws by Winston in camps. Having the extra QB allows for that.
2. The back-up and 3rd QB are unsettled. Let the 3 settle that in camp on who's 2 and 3 with the odd man out cut or possibly traded. I don't think DTR is as entrenched as some people think.

I don't know. Seems we would have had some indication. I really didn't pay any attention, but did DTR dress after that? We wouldn't have had him dress and on the bench if he had a lingering concussion.

Browns QB Deshaun Watson 'very confident' he'll be ready for Week 1 after season-ending shoulder surgery
Deshaun Watson doesn't plan on missing any time this upcoming season. The Cleveland Browns quarterback proclaimed on Thursday that he will be ready to play when his team kicks things off in Week 1 of the 2024 campaign, via Cleveland.com.
Mary Kay Cabot@MaryKayCabot#Browns Deshaun Watson said today he’ll be ready Week 1Watson has been working his way back from shoulder surgery, which he underwent following the Browns' Week 10 win over the Ravens last season. Watson went 5-1 as Cleveland's starter in 2023 before suffering the season-ending injury.
"I'm very confident in the roles of the doctors," Watson said when asked about his chances of achieving his Week 1 target date. "Following their lead. And just my work and my preparation. I've put my whole life into this. I want to make sure I come back even better than before."
Mary Kay Cabot@MaryKayCabot#Browns Deshaun Watson on why he’s confident he’ll be ready for Week 1 at the opening of his Lefty’s Cheesesteak in Univ HtsA three-time Pro Bowler with the Texans, Watson has yet to live up to the massive contract he signed with the Browns after being traded from Houston to Cleveland in 2022. While he has an 8-4 record as Cleveland's starter, Watson has completed less than 60% of his pass attempts in a Browns uniform. He's also thrown just 14 touchdowns against just nine picks in those 12games.
Watson did have arguably his greatest moment in a Browns uniform during his most recent start. Despite playing with a badly injured shoulder (that ultimately led to his season-ending surgery), Watson completed each of his 14 pass attempts in the second half while leading Cleveland to a come-from-behind 33-31 win over Baltimore.

TodayThe Deshaun Watson trade has been disastrous for the Browns since they traded for him in 2022. Missed games, injuries and inconsistent production plagued Watson's tenure in Cleveland.
