Longmire

This is a show on Netflix l’ve been steadily making my way through for a couple months now. It originally aired in 2012 and the first 3 seasons were on the cable channel A & E, but then Netflix took it over for 3 more seasons after that. All seasons are currently on Netflix.
The show gets its name from the main character, Walt Longmire, who plays the sheriff of the fictional county of Absaroka, WY. It’s depicted as a large geographical but sparsely populated county, as l imagine much of Wyoming is. It’s a cool setting for the show as it has much of that great American west vibe that shows like Yellowstone have along with a contemporary cowboy feel to it.
In the show there’s a nearby Cheyenne reservation along with a couple powerful native Americans who are in to things like building a casino and organized crime, and there’s the local rich white dude who wants to build a resort and a golf course, and those characters drive a good chunk of the plot in the early seasons.
Walt Longmire is an interesting lead character. He’s reserved but very sharp and seems to have a wealth of knowledge on many things. His best friend is a Cheyenne bar owner played by Lou Diamond Phillips, and l can’t remember the last thing l saw him in.
I’m now in to season 6 and the whole thing so far has been enjoyable. I give it a B+.
