Myles Garrett gives Browns an ultimatum, won't stay in Cleveland through rebuild

It's a statistical anomaly to be this bad for this long the way the NFL and drafting is structured.
Correct. The draft is supposed to help you build.
Instead, DePodesta, Berry, Sashi, etc use it to trade earned assets & end up right back where they started.

I appreciate everything Myles has done for the Franchise.
There's no way the Browns are getting out of this without a "rebuild." To what degree is anyone's best guess.
The Team needs so much and Myles is too valuable.
I'd give him his opportunity to not be part of a rebuild.

I hear ya but this team won 11 games as recently as 1 year ago despite using 5 different QBs and losing the following starters to injury: Nick Chubb, Jack Conklin, Dawand Jones, Jed Wills, and more... There's guys here that CAN win but there's lingering questions on whether the GM can draft to the level he needs to. Right now there's 3 AFC North teams in the playoffs so he better giddy-up and get after it.
My guess is Myles doesn't want to see a lot of trading for future picks in 2026/2027/2028 or this trading for 7th round picks. Then again, those of us entering our 50s, 60s or 70s don't either I would guess. Pretending now isn't urgent excuses, perpetuates and reinforces losing. Next year's draft volume should be fine if we have the right GM doing the drafting.
As far as Watson goes, he didn't bring himself here. In fact, when he narrowed his search down to his 2 finalists near the end - he excluded Cleveland. The hatred is justified; but all those behind that decision to give him an offer he can't refuse are still here with endless and unchallenged tenure.

Would suck to lose this guy, him and Joe Thomas deserved better.

Myles Garrett now believes Browns are 'closer than some may think' to turning things around
Published: Jan 14, 2025 at 09:55 PMIn the final weeks of a dreary season for the Cleveland Browns, Myles Garrett made it clear he does not want to be part of a rebuilding process.
Furthermore, he was looking for discussions with the Browns brass that would shed a light on what the plan was going forward.
It would appear those conversations were had and Garrett believes his Browns might not be that far away from playing the "meaningful" games he covets.
"I've talked to [general manager Andrew Berry]," Garrett said in Tuesday's episode of Hard Knocks: In Season With the AFC North. "How we gonna make the most of all the talent that is here? We're closer than some may think we are."

...but we need a QB. Without one we are further away then people think we are.

Right... I tend to think the starting 2025 quarterback for the Browns isn't on the team. We also need a Left Tackle, and Conklin is injury prone. Who knows if JOK will be able to play?
Closer than one would think? Sure, we lost a couple close games, but if you want to count a blowout- losing by 10 or more, chalk up nine games where we weren't competitive. Especially towards the end of the season. Legitimate concern Stefanski had lost the locker room.
2025 screams rebuild- you don't go from 3-14 to the Super Bowl, or even the playoffs in one season.
PS- Just saw a report that (not surprisingly) the Browns are 100% fed up with Watson. They brought in Dorsey (big mistake IMHO) to run an offense more suitable for him- and DW refused to use it. But can't be cut- or traded. Berry may be able to do some cap magic adding more voidable years to that contract and spread the $92 million hit Watson is owed over more years.

Berry told Myles about his super top secret plan for the Browns to contend in 2025 and now Myles is back in. Must be some plan. I said it before, this sounds like it's really about a new contract.all along it seems Myles just wanted a new contract, I said it seems

Cleveland Browns Pitched To Sign Former Cincinnati Bengals Quarterback, They Need The Help
Story by Ryan Brooks• 5h • 2 min readWith the offseason having arrived for most teams, though, one former Bengals quarterback could land a new job amid the player movement chaos.
Andy Dalton, who spent his first nine seasons in the NFL and 133 starts with Cincinnati, is entering free agency this offseason after spending the season with the Carolina Panthers in a backup role.
Andy Dalton of the Carolina Panthers © Geoff Burke-Imagn ImagesIf the 37-year-old quarterback is looking for a potential role where he could see more starts -- like he did in favor of Bryce Young this season -- he could end up with the Cleveland Browns, as analyst Adam Gerstenhaber recently pitched on "The Bullpen" podcast.
“Andy Dalton has been a clear backup, and he’s worked with a lot of young quarterbacks, and from all accounts, he’s been a great mentor," Gerstenhaber explained. "We saw Bryce Young with Andy Dalton this year really take off when he got his second chance. I think Andy Dalton, I know people know him from the Bengals, of course, but I think he could be a great influence on a young quarterback."
The Browns need to turn the page in terms of the signal-caller leading the team, and bringing in a young quarterback as well as Dalton could be exactly what they need.

I think absolutely this could be true, and part of the assurances the Browns are trying to win Myles says he needs. I think Browns players could see last training camp that Watson was a shell of what he used to be, and he doesn't want to be part of chasing a Deshaun that no longer exists.
It was also rumored that Myles was not a fan of Baker at the end of his run too. I think his opinion matters to this front office.

No. Just no to Dalton.
