There's a possibility much of Watson's remaining contract could be covered by insurance bought by Jimmy Haslam.

So his current injury needs to keep him out all season.

It will.  No way his heel is ready to go by the opener.  He will get the IR tag.

Yeah, but now-a-days players can come off of IR and still play during the season.  I'm just wondering what happens regarding the insurance, if at some point during the season he's medically cleared to come off of IR and play.  Do we have to find a scorpion to bite him in the heel?

I don't know how that would work.

The NFL is different than other sports. You don't have extended rosters like you do in baseball and the other sports.  You don't have a way to send him off for rehab assignments.

Understood...but the insurance comes with cap relief.  We could sure use some of that.

Browns GM Andrew Berry: Too early to say if Deshaun Watson can play in 2025

Let's all pitch in and send him a trained pet scorpion.
