I've never liked the NFL scheduling division games in week 1.
Maybe Cincy struggles out of the gate like the last few seasons. Browns need to win it.
I've never liked the NFL scheduling
I swear they're evil people. They make southern teams come up to play northern teams towards the end of the season, and northern teams go down south to play in the early part of the season. Benevolent schedulers would do things the other way around. I mean, someone from an intelligent planet visiting earth would think that us humans are pretty darned stupid, putting players and fans in extreme temperatures, on purpose.

Agree. Miami is real rough in September. The Dolphins sideline is in the shade, road team in full sun.

It's looking like Cincy's All Pro and 4 time Pro Bowl Edge Rusher Trey Hendrickson could still be holding out - while their FO would rather count their pennies than do the right thing... That's 1 franchise that won't cave in to the extent they'll let it go into the regular season if need be.

Word down here is that the Bengals cut off contract negotiations with Hendrickson. The Bengals have had an out-of-the-ordinary offseason where the normally alligator armed Mike Brown did manage to get deals done for their 1 and 2 wideouts: Chase and Higgins. Mike is known to be a cheapskate.

I got to save my money for the Las Vegas game out there in Nov.

The schedule starts and ends like it did in 2023, with the Bengals. I actually went to that last game that year, a battle of the backups. It wasn’t a good game.

The AFC North takes on the NFC North...
Should be very interesting. Last year our secondary killed us even when there was decent pressure up front. As much as I like the players we drafted - it's tough to predict outcomes when the Browns didn't address the secondary in the draft. They did add FA Corner Nik Needham - who hasn't been the same since his achilles injury 3 years ago. I don't know what's going to happen at Safety with Delpit still making rookie mistakes and having communication issues when the team that drafted him hoped he'd be a leader by now. That said, his effort is never a problem so I'm hoping for a lightbulb moment to change the trajectory. Not that this will be tough to upgrade, but Thornhill is gone and there's an opportunity for someone (maybe the Undrafted FA). We'll see.

The Browns signed an ex-Steeler, Kazee, for a Safety spot the other day. I don't think he's a difference maker, but he has starting experience.
I agree with you on Delpit, a liability in pass coverage. He's better as a pseudo-LB close to the LOS.

Thanks Bob! The 8 year veteran does have some starting experience so that should help. I'm guessing the only drawback is he only weighs 174 pounds at 5'11" but Pittsburgh employed him for 3 years fwiw. He had 112 combined tackles (33 assisted tackles) and 5 INTs within his role there. Here's his career stats:

8 year career and zero sacks. I bet the call him Sackless Kazee in the locker room.
I’m guessing he’s what we used to call a free safety who doesn’t play much around the LOS. Not a bad compliment to Delpit who may not be great in coverage but has some nice moments in run support.

? Since he's not a Steeler any more - how about this IBB? Sack-free Kazee.
That said we don't need to waste our 174 lbs of Fat-free Kazee blitzing anyway; if he can duplicate that 2018 season where he had 7 INTs with 82 combined tackles with 22 assists.
