Nah man, thru out this thread I've really tried to remain civil outside this pissing contest that I regret becoming involved in..

The constant complaint is that the political forum is a cess pool, and maybe so.. This thread illustrates that this forum is no better..

Ironically enough I need TB to score at least 18 points against Detroit, because the one person who can overtake me this weekend in FFL has the Detroit defense. 18 points would negate any scoring other than takeaways run back for TDs. And TB needs to hold St. Brown and the Detroit kicker down under about a 4 TD level of scoring. Our system awards 50 points for TDs and 25 for FGs, 10 for XPs. I lead him by 219 points total and am done for the weekend.

3 key matchups to determine Buccaneers-Lions on Monday Night Football

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Detroit Lions both have the star power needed to deliver the game of the week on Monday Night Football.

Detroit is really tough - if the Bucs win this one - Baker Mayfield is surely

    MVP.

Behind Enemy Lines: Breaking down Week 7 with Bucs Wire

"How has Baker Mayfield stepped up his game in 2025?

I have watched Baker Mayfield since he was drafted by the Cleveland Browns. He was good then, and they are paying for moving on from him. That being said, this is the closest to his Heisman Trophy-winning season he has played in terms of performance. He is doing the most with what he is given, while also raising the level of those around him. He is the clear-cut MVP at this point, and I don't think it is really close either."

    https://www.detroitnews.com/story/sports/nfl/lions/2025/10/19/scouting-report-detroit-lions-vs-tampa-bay-buccaneers/86689441007/

    Lions vs. Buccaneers

▶ Kickoff: 7 p.m. Monday, Ford Field, Detroit

    ▶ TV/radio: ESPN, ABC/97.1 FM

    ▶ Line: Lions by 5½

▶ Records: Lions are 4-2; Buccaneers are 5-1

    "

    Key matchup

DETROIT'S SECONDARY VS. TAMPA BAY'S RECEIVERS

Lions head coach Dan Campbell isn't one to complain or make excuses — and he didn't this week — but the volume of injuries currently present in the secondary is stunning. Cornerbacks D.J. Reed (hamstring), Terrion Arnold (shoulder) and Avonte Maddox (hamstring) are all out, as are safeties Brian Branch (suspended) and Kerby Joseph (knee). That's four of Detroit's five starting defensive backs (and Maddox is a top depth piece), with usual nickel starter Amik Robertson being the exception."

"How this patchwork secondary deals with Tampa Bay's weapons will be pivotal. The Bucs will be without veteran Chris Godwin (fibula), but Mike Evans (hamstring) is expected to return, and rookie phenom Emeka Egbuka (hamstring) is a game-time decision. Even if Egbuka can't go or is limited, Tez Johnson, another rookie, has been promising lately; the former Oregon standout has caught five passes for 104 yards and a touchdown over the last two weeks. Veteran Sterling Sheppard has been a steady presence, averaging 40.3 receiving yards per game."

    "

Much of the receivers' success can be traced to quarterback Baker Mayfield, who is playing at an MVP-caliber level. Mayfield has completed 66.2% (19th among all QBs entering Week 7) of his passes for 1,539 yards (fourth), 12 touchdowns (T-fourth) and one interception (T-second). He leads the NFL in fourth-quarter comebacks (four) and game-winning drives (four).

    Bucs to watch

▶ Tristan Wirfs, LT: One of the NFL's best offensive lineman, Wirfs has been elite since returning from injury in Week 4, allowing only five pressures over his last three appearances. The Lions could opt to keep pass rusher Aidan Hutchinson on the opposite side of Wirfs, but the two will inevitably face off at some point. That matchup is about as good as it gets.

▶ Vita Vea, DT: The first thing often brought up about Vea (6-foot-4, 347 pounds) is his size, but Campbell was quick to point out the defensive tackle's movement skills, which make him a pill for interior offensive linemen. Bucs linebacker SirVocea Dennis leads the NFL in run stops. That's no accident. Dennis is a talent, but playing behind Vea certainly helps put him in positions to succeed.

▶ Jamel Dean, CB: Among the 68 cornerbacks in the NFL who have played at least 150 coverage snaps through Week 6, Dean's passer rating allowed (27.4) ranks first by a healthy margin; Minnesota's Isaiah Rodgers (44.9) is second. Dean has been targeted 21 times this season. He's allowed nine catches for 147 yards and no touchdowns, and he's notched two interceptions and a pass deflection.

    Facts and figures

▶ The Bucs have yet to allow a 100-yard rusher this season, with Seattle's Kenneth Walker posting the current high (86 yards) in Week 5. In 2024, only two players (Baltimore's Derrick Henry and Kansas City's Kareem Hunt) hit the 100-yard benchmark against Tampa Bay's defense. The Lions haven't had a 100-yard rusher versus the Bucs since December 2010, when Maurice Morris posted 109 yards in an overtime win. There have been nine games played between the teams since.

▶ Rachaad White needs one touchdown to pass Errict Rhett (25) for the fifth-most total touchdowns by a running back in franchise history. White figures to see a larger-than-usual workload, given the status of Bucky Irving, who is out Monday night with foot and shoulder injuries. White is in his fourth year with the Bucs. He's averaged 4.0 yards per carry so far this season, a tick under the league average of 4.4."

Meanwhile, the NFL draft next spring?

Walter football has the Browns, picking at #2:

Cleveland Browns: Keldric Faulk, DE, Auburn

    No qb, no OT.

Of course the Browns also have the #21 pick.

    and they pick:

NFL Team Logo for Browns Cleveland Browns: John Mateer, QB, Oklahoma Image for OU

The Browns will give Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders a shot at some point. If they both fail, they’ll look to select a quarterback with one of their two first-round picks in the 2026 NFL Draft.

John Mateer is very accurate and mobile. Charlie Campbell’s sources compare Mateer to Baker Mayfield.

    That is funny.

Having watched every Oklahoma game this season, Mateer isn't impressive mobile and is WILDLY inaccurate.

Every 6'1 white dude is now Baker Mayfield.    Cade Klubnik has Baker comparisons from similar sites.

It's lazy football journalism.  But that's standard anymore.

Baker was the 1st overall pick in 2018.  I haven't read, seen or heard any buzz that Mateer (as a red-shirt Junior) is that type of talent. Here's his college career stats (2022-2024 he played at Washington State). He's not off to a great start this year; so he may want to stay at Oklahoma and get a 3rd year of starting under his belt:

Well, Detroit has lost two games too, but I don't know how the hell they lost any. They dominated the Bucs, destroyed the Bucs run and pass game, Baker didn't have wr's get open until he nearly got hammered or did get hammered.... Injuries took their toll on the Bucs to be able to play much at all against the Lions. Baker just got his butt kicked most of the game, Otton was getting some throws, Without Evans and Godwin, the Bucs worked some miracles against other teams, but the Lions overran them hugely. And... I probably had another team stomp my Kosardawgs, with Gibbs on their team - he had over 200 yards rushing? Wow.

I ended up winning by only 24 points. St Brown was held to 1 TD and 86 yds (1 point for every yd over 70), kicker had only 1 FG and 3 XPs and the Lions D held TB to only 9 points which scores 75 points. If they had held them to 7 or less it would have been 100 points and beat me by 1. So at least the frauds did something right. So I'm $40 happier for the night.??

  •  It's not that I can't stand Taylor Swift, I can't stand the Swifties.  They make her, and by extension her music, absolutely insufferable.

It's the same way with Baker.  It's the same way with Shedeur.

Neither QB can lose, in the mind of their cult members,  and you see the parallels.

If they win ---> it's their individual greatness.

If they lose ----> coaches fault, others players fault, not enough talent around them.  My personal favorite ---> "scheme".  Which, when you ask anyone to detail, they get mad. Because they can't.

I spent good money to go watch Baker and the Brownies every year. I was there chanting his name against the Bengals for the last home game in 2018.

I was there, opening day 2019 watching him rip passes into the Titans 2nd level defenders and not holding DBs with his eyes.

I was there in 2021, freezing my shit off against Baltimore and screaming when the defense was on the field.

NOBODY on this board hates Baker. Saying dumb shit like this has always been a pathetic attempt to dismiss legitimate criticism of his play by those who have odd fixations on people they've never met.  Just like anyone or anything else? Your favorite football player? He does no wrong.   Your favorite politician?  Sinless.    Your favorite musician? The best to ever do it.

The first rule of any cult is to believe that anyone and everyone else is lying to you when reasonable question and critique is brought up re: the cult diety.

You have members of this board, including the chaunce that owns it, who show up to troll their own fan base every so often, especially after a loss, wildly disproportionate to anything constructive they could have offered at any point since the start of the 2022 season.   And THAT, is what irks people.

TL;DR.  If you find yourself popping on this board to smoke Bakers pole and little else, then you're the football equivalent of a Swiftie.  You're a high school cheerleader and should be regarded as such.

    Missed 3rd down conversion.

    TB2.thumb.jpg.08532658a5ce876a706c8a95fc4439b8.jpg

Bailing early from a clean pocket.    Look familiar, huh?

    Screenshot2025-10-21120321.png.fd45859ea32bbda3e4ea9b2cada000b2.png

Coaches tell Baker he missed the earlier 3rd down conversion above.  So let's set a rub route and give him a wide open, easy conversion with YAC just like before.

He didn't take this throw and this wasn't a conversion.

    TB6.thumb.jpg.d76db07cbd11059d26f98d49fd3a6226.jpg

4th down, down two scores.  We're going to setup X follow, it's an in to out read, 1 to 2.   Gotta have it.

Does Baker deliver?  Negative.  Does he see it? absolutely.

    TB1.thumb.jpg.bb6796e9804ff9c5903edd94f3276f7d.jpg

Late 4th down, safety Voids the middle of the field on a post-wheel.  Baker locks into the wheel route and misses a WIDE OPEN post for a TD.

    TB4.thumb.jpg.67512e37d7e6af31b25baae31bbe7a73.jpg

Coaches tell him "Baker, you missed it. They're playing middle field open, throw the damn post" and they go right back to a similar concept.

Instead of stepping into the throw and just taking the contact, he fades back and gator arms this into a safety coming late out of the low hole....

    TB3.thumb.jpg.6a6f270e85acd818884379468729d221.jpg

That's a 27 yard throw he short armed still.   He was late and it was underthrown, the TD was there.

At worst the outlet option on 2nd and 8 was there.

    TB5.thumb.jpg.4d506a50f9bc524c1a2ad46e9a32f08d.jpg

Things I had said previously to remember.

Baker was leading the entire NFL in turnover worthy throws before playing Philly.   But that's Baker in a nutshell.  He'll rip it and you'll live with the consequences, be it good or bad.   Sometimes it's great, other times he digs an early hole and fights to get out, or makes the hole even deeper.

At least Axe has the modest reason to be able to come back and go "yeah, we played like shit".  I have to give him that respect.  No excuses, no whataboutisms.

Culty Cal will swamp this board with Facebook links from FootballFucks.org, things from the most obscure parts of the internet, in anyway to make sure he doesn't have to admit that Baker can do no wrong and that it was everyone else who failed his deity.   Another example of manic behavior.

No Steve trolling, doubt you'll see him this week.

Remember, had the Baker Bros not started this thread, there would be no responses to it.  There would be nobody else that would have created a thread to a QB who hasn't been with CLE for 3.5 seasons just to trash him. Hasn't been so far, to my knowledge.    What you're seeing here isn't "hate"... it's annoyed fatigue.

edit: And for those who think this is "cherry picking"

3 missed 3rd downs would be almost 20% of the 3rd down attempts.

    2 of the 5 4th downs is 40%.

Both of those are statistically relevant and impactful when measured in percentages.
