Defensive-Minded vs Offensive-Minded Head Coach
-
We need a guy to take over. An alpha dog who doesn’t take crap. Harbaugh or Gruden type
Instead we are going to get stuck with an unproven coordinator guy that will let Jimmy and Berry tell him what to do
Rinse and repeat. SIGH!!!!!?
To answer the question. Offensive guy and keep Schwartz

Yeah, that's in a back corner of all of our minds.
I'm not interested in the Bengals guy. Although he's only been the OC for a couple of years, I haven't thought that the Bengals properly attacked us offensively in a whole bunch of years.

A culture changer not a yes man, so until jimmy sells the team, were fucked, and OH for who ever was arguing with me in a different thread, Stefanski was told to keep Baker in vs the vikings (even tho Nick Chubb was just killing it) I am sure he was glad to be let go (no longer having to be a coffee fetcher for a fool) which is what you are
edit: it was vapor trail that is the fool

Jon Gruden won a Super Bowl like a generation ago, and doesn't he still have a lawsuit against the NFL pending?

Here's what I want:
A head coach who - regardless if he's an offensive/defensive/special teams guy - creates an atmosphere in Berea where his staff and players are held accountable on and off the field. A coach who creates an environment that fosters player development and coach development. A coach that helps turn this team from a punchline to a franchise that the rest of the NFL respects. A coach that does that creates a team that can win every year, not just randomly.
That's what I want. Don't care what side of the ball he comes from.
-
I'd lean towards a defensive minded head coach as long as he has a creative OC.
The reason I lean that way is we need to prioritize stopping the run, & running the ball. It's the best way to win our division.
The only years the Browns have made the playoffs, or contended for the playoffs since '99 are when we had a rushing attack and a decent passing game. Couch, Anderson, Mayfield, & Flacco/combo at QB, not exactly an all star team.
It can be done, next year if the offensive line improves. Just my $.02

I think the best HC's are the ones that can tailor their philosophy/playbook to the type of team/players that they currently have. He would be allowed to have a different 'vision' for what he wants the team to 'become' ... and can work towards that longer term goal...but I don't want someone coming in with some 'round hole' plan and he's going to mash everyone into those holes. - Don Shula comes to mind. A proficient offense with Csonka and with Marino.
-
it doesn't matter - def HC can have an oustanding OC, and vice versa.
what is important is a HC that is tough enough to instill discipline and teamwork
into the pro game. Going along with dei, going along with prima donna players, refusing to
go along with some players committing violent cheap shots (Like the hit on the Rams receiver by
a panther cheap shot db)...
and
Nov 25, 202549ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings responded to a "cheap shot" from Tre'von Moehrig by throwing an open-handed right cross to the Panthers safety's face mask after the final whistle Monday night.Feb 8, 2024the Panthers, known for their aggressive play, seized the opportunity to take a cheap shot on Alex Ovechkin.************************************************Just once, I wish the Browns could hire an excellent HC, a true leader, a true team builder. But Berry needs to TRY to listen to the HC on drafting and signing free agents, etc. -
