In honor of Chuck Norris’ passing, l watched one of his wheelhouse films, Invasion U.S.A.

Released in 1985, l’ve probably seen it before, but honestly a lot of Chuck Norris films run together. Some of them feature more kung fu fighting, some feature more machine guns, and some feature a cowboy vibe, and some have a combination of those 3 things. For the most part, all of them are fantastic if a mindless action flick is what you’re looking for.

This flick is solid. I understand the studio had a sizable budget for this flick and it shows. There’s lots of tanks and helicopters and explosions in it.

Chuck plays the lead character, Matt Hunter, and he’s portrayed as an ex black ops type guy who the CIA would reach out to if they needed some dirty work done but didn’t want anyone to know they were involved.

The basic plot line is that some Russian special forces guys have a mission to attack America from within, so they hatch a plot to bring a few hundred soldiers in to Miami, FL to launch an attack.

It just so happens that the main Russian bad guy is a former nemesis of Chuck, and Chuck got the better of him the last time they met, and Chuck is in his head.

The action scenes are solid. There’s not a lot of kung fu action, l only counted one roundhouse kick, but Chuck hits hard with twin Uzis and a rocket launcher.

He doesn’t have a ton of lines in the flick, and that’s probably for the best.

    It’s a definite A.

Another random thing about this flick is it’s a Christmas movie much in the way Die Hard is.

I’ll go ahead and start that trend if it hasn’t already. Invasion U.S.A. Is a Christmas movie.
