2026 Run The 9 thread. Your Offense, Defense & Personnel Analysis.

For those interested in some of the 'why' behind the running game struggles. It's a big long-winded, but hopefully worth it.

***WARNING, LONG WINDEDED*** But if you're a #Browns fan, you might (not) enjoy this explanation.

Some numbers & thoughts on the current state of the #Browns running game.

From last Sunday - designed runs only, discounting QB scrambles.

I'm seeing a shift in the #Browns defense during my defensive charting.

Coach Rutenberg knows he can't replace Myles Garrett and his edge pressure 1 for 1 - Jared Verse is a fine player and I'm sure we'll be seeing greater individual stats from him sooner rather than later. Show more

I was curious as to how Coach Rutenberg would keep the week 2 momentum going with the #Browns pass rush pressure using only 4. The mentality really didn't change - install and expand the varying stunt looks this DL is going to be throwing at opposing OL's while throwing a Show more

@bbedward didn't see the thread pinned. Thank you, that's very humbling.

Some of my latest on both the promise, but also the real concern(s) with Deshaun.

Something I'm referring to with #DeshaunWatson and efficient operation; He was, for the most part, smooth last Thursday. But there are still times his footwork gets too erratic in the straight drop game moving off his primary at times.

2 different plays; 2 similar results
2nd & long, we're unable to get to 3rd & manageable

Just another facet holding the #Browns offense back. Pressure at heels and the eyes drop. Doesn't matter if it's pure progression or triangle, it's the same miss.

Sacks 3-5 on #DeshaunWatson

There was a theme I had noticed from the Ravens calls between 2nd & long and 3rd down; They bluffed 1 on 1 to the 'matchup' side opposite trips quite a bit, only to hold serve just the 1 time.

I can't help but feel the gamesmanship in that is Show more

The #Browns called 'mesh' and mesh complimentary forms (mesh-sail, Railroad, etc) twice on Sunday... only twice.

The first drew Man 1 with a boundary-over robber. Watson put up a dangerous throw and the Coaches tucked that away for later.

My posts re: some of the pressure designs the Ravens used wasn't to affirm or condemn Deshaun Watson's performance from Sunday.

The QB is often given too much praise, too much blame, or has things assigned to him, affirmative or negative, that aren't solely in his control. Show more

Last year TN beat Cleveland because the Browns couldn't stop the run & on offense they couldn't Block DT Jeff Simmons. That guy can be a monster; especially if we're not pepared for him again.

Simmons will be lined up right over Barber,it is going to be a hell of a test for the big man

Absolutely! Barber has been surprising a lot of people since the Senior Bowl practices; so if anyone is up for the challenge - it would be him.

The Barber of C-ville. Good nickname or lame?

Timing is everything; so if he continues to play well as a rookie - that's a keeper!
