Holy cow, that would be AMAZING.

Yeah, I know, he's a game-changer, he's an athletic beast, blah blah blah, yadda yadda yadda (Seinfeld again.)

#1 WRs are like a nice spinners. They only really fit and look good on a nice car.

Having him on this team, this year, was like seeing spinners on a Yugo. Just made the whole thing look more ridiculous.

  • Im going on record right now as saying BE is going to have another Pro Bowl year and be a huge reason they make it to the playoffs we really xxxxed up on this one. The guy has insane potential and I was praying we could unlock that. It will happen in NY and we'll be fleeced once again by the Jets and Mangina.

Are we the Jets farm system now? Iss Mangina secretly still on their payroll? We gave them a franchise QB and now a franchise WR. Mark my words folks and be ready for an 0-16 season! Wheres the fawking grocery bags!

P.S. The optimism of getting even a 3rd and 5th is outlandish, we got bent over!

  • Get a grip buddy. Edwards wasn't doin shit this year and he wouldn't even be around next year so..... the timing sucks but it had to be done.

We were no more or less likely to win games with BE this year. That was abundantly clear from his play so far this year and evidently ManKok agree with me.

He was doing the NFL version of a "sick out". Oh, he was playing, alright, if by "playing" we mean "running around trying not to get hurt".

The guy has potential. Great. So do MoMass and Robo and they actually seem to want to play football.

Good freaking riddance to BE. He's NY's problem now and they are welcome to him.

  • I disagree with you BE and DA's chemistry is very good and took years to build. Eventually BE was going to have a break out game and the guy draws double coverage alot. He was in fact our only seasoned weapon and If you think he wasn't going to have a solid year with DA at the helm your smoking crack! Pro Bowl with the Browns maybe not, but with the Jets he will! He's in a contract year and you're telling me he's trying to not play hard to get a good deal? He and DA have great chemistry and it was bound to come out at some point! He draws double coverage which entail gives other WR's an opportunity. Thats all gone which equals less wins for this team! Mangina isn't playing to win this year or be competitive at all, the Jets are! Oh but we've got an awesome defense so it doesn't matter lol!

Bust out your paper grocery bags gentlemen, its going to be a LONG season!

You are so clueless on the logic here man.

This is good for the browns, chant it until you believe it.

It is only good for the Browns if a) Stucky and that other dude make significant contributions down the line or b.) the draft picks end up amounting to players that significantly contribute to the team down the line.

Problem is I don't believe it and I won't believe it until it equates to wins. For instance the game this weekend vs the Bills I thought was very winnable, now not so much. We'll see how the offense plays this weekend and I might brighten up to this trade. I just dont see anything good coming in the near future.

  • Let's see how many balls you catch in triple coverage.

    Signed,

    Braylon Edwards

    (Our coach is horrible.)

This is a FANTASTIC move. BE was useless beyond useless. Stucky is the perfect #2 WR and Mo Mass prolly won't garner double teams until he beats them. And EVERY good WR in the league has to deal with double teams sometimes it's just part of the game. Then, Stucky is one on one and he catches everything so this is a great move. Plus, we got a 3rd round pick out of the deal! Mangini hosed em' and I love the move.

He ain't gettin us any wins NOW is the issue man. He has 10 catches this year. Yeah he commands a doubleteam.. so what.

As to what, it allows a guy like MoMass to go out and see mainly man coverger and put up a big day like he did Sunday. In the long run, getting rid of BE will probably make the team better. In the short term, we are likely not going to see many games this year out of MoMass like we did on Sunday.

We shall see how the passing game looks this Sunday.

  • This issue is the same short-term vs. long-term debate I was having with Stan in the DA thread but now about WRs.

To me, this whole year should have been about long-term. It should have been (and increasingly now is going to be) about developing young talent.

I obviously think BQ should have been part of that but if he really was that detrimental, fine. Stan brought up a good point about DA allowing guys a better chance to develop. Okay, I'll buy into that; it makes me feel better about the move.

And this is in the same vein. COULD BE have helped us win a few games this year? Sure. WOULD he have? Probably not, simply because we are not that good.

At some point, the coach/GM has to say: "What's this season about?" Maybe they really thought it was about trying for this year in August and then when it became apparent that what they decided wouldn't work, they switched gears.

Personally, that's great. The more young, hungry players on this team, the better. It's the only way out of the mess.

I thought BE and DA had a good relationship but maybe not lately (or maybe this story is bullshit):

Derek Anderson is glad that Braylon is gone

Posted by Mike Florio on October 7, 2009 10:31 AM ET

Though he hasn't and likely won't say or do anything publicly to indicate his feelings on the matter, a league source tells us that Browns starting quarterback (for now) Derek Anderson is happy that receiver Braylon Edwards has been traded to the Jets.

We were surprised, given that Anderson likes to throw the deep ball and that Edwards had been the team's top vertical option. Then again, the number of dropped passes over the past year and change likely influenced Anderson's thinking.

The eight catches and 148 yards from rookie Mohamed Massaquoi probably increases Anderson's comfort level regarding Edwards' absence, too.

And so the Browns have in little more than seven months dumped their two top-ten draft picks from 2005 and 2004 -- Edwards and tight end Kellen Winslow.

Two years ago, it appeared that both players would be Cleveland fixtures well into the next decade.

    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/...raylon-is-gone/

  • If that is true then it speak volumes. Anderson greatly benefits from a deep threat. However, there must be off the field and in the huddle situations not meshing. DA has worked hard to be the starting QB (as did Quinn)...BE was given the #1 and you didn't quite see the effort on or off the field to equate to such a prestigous job. Anderson throws to a wide open Edwards who drops it. Then having that same guy saying HE wants the ball in the huddle...can't sit well. If it wasn't for his one monster year out of five...talent is good...using it is better.

  • This could very well be a turning point for Anderson. Without a cancer in the locker room and in the huddle Anderson can take command and be the field general. I truly believe that Edwards was a big part of Anderson's flop last season.

And now we are stuck with rookies and some situational players. Is that bad? You think Buffalo might be scratching their heads and saying, who do we roll the coverage to? Who will they target in certain situations? It's all unknown until teams are able to see a few games and see what they will do.

Today Anderson seems very happy. Maybe he feels a big monkey was taken off his back. The pressure was you had to get your #1 involved, now that won't be a problem. There is no pattern for defenses to look for and best of all no disruptions for the QB in the huddle.

Lat wek Mangini said Robo has earned some additional time because of his work on the scout teams. This week he said Robo would get some time on offense not just special teams. How long was this deal in the works?

Think this might have something to do with BQ not having success downfield? His #1 receiver not giving a rats ass?

I wouldn't be too surprised to see BQ back in this season.

Good point. If he thought he took a lot of flak in Cleveland, the NY fans lets alone the NY media are going to be a big surprise for him.
