What Are "Thanks"

I couldn't find the answer quickly, so I just figure I would ask...
What are the "Thanks" all about? I see the button next to the reply/quote buttons.

If someone says something useful, you can click the thanks button under their post and they will get a thank you added to their statistics.

It's just a gay little button that allows you to Thank a poster for his insightful, useful post. It mostly is used as a smart-ass reply, or a brown-nose attempt to gain a notch in life. It's even been used to fuel and cause wars and has been a topic of heated discussion in the past.
We keep it because it is controversal and dynamic ... but so cute.
Be careful with it, and don't misuse it!

Yeah some use it for its intended use: thanking someone for a helpful post. I tend to use it on posts that I think are funny, or posts that I want to acknowledge in some way. If only we could thank our own posts...

Admin should consider additional buttons to streamline the smack volume, i.e:
'Blow Me'.......'Effing homo'....'Friggin IDIOT'.......'BQ is a fag'

What's dumb is, you can't "Thank" yourself...
I mean, really...once in a year or two, somebody like me might
come up with something really good. But can you "Thank" yourself? NO.
But, Stan never promised us a rose garden.

My only question is why doesn't the forum add a "F**k You" button in addition to the Thank You button?

Its kind of like on facebook with the "like" button...but yes we cold really use an "unlike" button as could facebook..hah!
