I thought that about putting sanders in for one play, and the stupid fucking fans getting pissed when he left the game, you know fuck trading him just cut his stupid ass, while #4 has not been great we do have 2 wins in a row
He had to put sanders in as watson had to sit out one play due to the trainers coming out when he got that roughing call. But watching I thought the same thing oh great our "intelligent" fans are going to boo our offense with the game on the line when watson comes back in.
Thank you defense for bailing out the o line (and watson to a lesser extent) and the dumb decision to not take a 6 point lead. 2-1 feels way better than 1-2

Man I was fully expecting to give up the game winning td after the long rain delay. Credit to the defense today for bouncing back after that atrocious showing last week. Also credit to watson for playing probably his best game as a brown (not that it is hard to surpass) in the face of all the discussion about him being benched. He really only threw short passes and used his legs really well. I would like to see more stretching the field but as long as the chains keep moving I'm happy. Lastly denzel Boston is a stud.

I would typically agree but then when monken comes out and says it doesn't matter who gets the first snaps. That doesn't mean he has a lead etc. We both know that is coachspeak. Whoever is getting the first snaps and most run with the 1s is the current leader. He may not end up winning the job but if he really is the guy going out with the 1s and taking the first snaps as monken alluded to with his comment then he is the leader in the clubhouse. That is especially true when the guy competing with him is the younger guy with less experience. If monken had it even he would be giving the younger guy the first/more reps with the 1s

I was wondering the same thing. I saw a guy coming from the inside out to run down the sideline with our wr (he was trailing) but didn't see if it was a safety or linebacker so not sure if it was a disguised cover 2, a mable on that side of the field, or slay was just that confident we don't have the time to go down field so he jumped it. Regardless they are sitting had on the short stuff now.
This is where I'll ask you Browns fans -
- youre the head coach, you see your rookie QB playing so tense down the stretch that he's missing easy passes on your previous drives.
- your starting RB is averaging as many YPC as your QB has YP completion.
- you need to burn clock, so another incompletion to start the drive is just handing a free timeout to the Vikings.
I would roll him out to the left and not the right personally. As I stated earlier with the timeout thing I don't judge based off of outcomes. I judge based of decisions. I personally don't think running into a 9-10 man box was the right decision and I'll stand by that. Obviously there is no way for you to know but if he had called a bootleg and Gabriel missed a throw I would have said well I would have done the same thing and all you can do is put your guys in the best position to make a play.
OK, I don't usually have negative to say about Stef's game management...but I wouldn't have been using the time outs towards the end of the game.
The first timeout he used was when the clock was stopped after the big play to Jefferson down the sideline and was to give the defense a breather. The 2nd timeout was when it was going to be 3rd and 4 from the browns 21 with :59 sseconds left. This also avoided a 10 second runoff. The line of thinking there is if the defense gets the stop you conserve 50+ seconds to give your offense a chance to get in field goal range to win the game in a tie ball game if the vikings made the field goal resulting from the stop. If they missed you just come out in victory formation as there is not enough time/timeouts for the Vikings to get the ball back. Then the final timeout was taken @:54 seconds after they converted the 3rd down and 4 to get the 17 yard line. The last one is legitimately the only one I could see someone taking issue with but with 54 seconds at the 17 and timeout on offense they could have ran as many plays as they wanted so taking the timeout didn't give them extra time in my opinion. They scored 2 plays after that timeout. I really don't like Stefanski at all but it is honestly blowing my mind that so many people have issues with taking the timeouts at the end. Maybe I'm the crazy one lol.

Let me ask you a question, is it easier for an offense to have a timeout between plays?
Sometimes it is easier on the offense to have more time sometimes it is more advantageous to have less time. Hence why no huddle offenses seem to have success. I don't know if you're an Ohio state fan but fans are often clamoring for them to go more up tempo because the success they have when doing so.
Sharp football quit tracking it in 2021 unfortunately but in that season Minnesota had a higher percentage of successful plays when running no huddle vs huddling. My whole point is that it's not black and white. Again I'm not judging the result (which obviously is a negative) I'm judging the decision.

If on that 3rd and 4 the browns defense held and they kicked a fg then the browns offense went down and kicked a game winning fg because they had time left due to the timeout usage would you say it's still stupid? If not you're not judging the decision you're judging the result.
Agree Vilma seemed to think with a minute left and 20 yards to go the Vikings needed timeouts.
And then we heard Vilma say at least five times we messed up by not running it a third time because we didn’t run three straight times in a 10 man box which we did the last two drives
Yeah vilma was atrocious and a very hard listen. Once they got to our 20 yard line with a minute left time remaining no longer became the limiting factor for them scoring. I'm disappointed but like some of the positives we're seeing. I really wanted this one because we have some very winnable games coming up.
Also I really hope Gabriel (or Sanders) is the answer at qb because there certainly doesn't look to be a can't miss qb in this college season as of yet and arch looks like he would be lucky to be a 5th round pick.
I have no problem with burning timeouts, you just don’t start using them with a minute left in the game.
You don't burn them early in the possession because you don't know if they'd get in range. You start burning them when time is no longer a limiting factor on them tying or taking the lead. If we were up 4 I'd bet he wouldn't have spent a single timeout. However since they had the game essentially tied at a minimum you start trying to conserve time for your offense.
I just watched that last minute of the game, the Viking had the ball on the 23 yard line with one minute on the clock when Kevin started burning timeouts.
A chip shot FG sends it into OT, I could live with that.
If they score a TD we still have all 3 timeouts left.
We ended up down 4 points, with 70 yards to go with 21 seconds and no timeouts.Let me know how Kevin’s clock management worked out for us? ?
I would rather be in the situation you stated than if they had scored with 3 seconds left and we had all 3 timeouts left

Obviously not great but it doesn't make it the wrong decision. Let's say on 3rd and 4 from the 17 with 59 seconds left the browns get the stop and force a fg. If Minnesota makes it the browns then have 50 seconds left to get in fg range and it looks like a great decision and then you're praising the timeout usage. If the Vikings didn't have a timeout themselves I would agree the browns shouldn't have called timeouts but the fact is that they had one. I have the same viewpoint regardless of the outcome the timeouts were the right call. He was playing for the win in regulation which I always want my team/coach to do.
Offensive play calling is just terrible, 3:00 minutes left in the game with a lead and the ball and you can’t close it out ! Well you deserve to lose
Yeah a play action roll out when they were so geared up to stop the run would have been an easy first down and ran at least 40 more seconds off the clock and made the Vikes burn all 3 of their timeouts.
