no, I am a steeler's fan from way back and back them every year. Are you proud you beat the defending Super Bowl champs without ever having become a defending super bowl champ?
I'm a few pages behind here but I'll go ahead and answer this. YES
The starter (and it would seem to be Quinn) will finish the game unless injured. As much as Mangini continues to amaze me with his decision I can't believe he would pull the same stunt again. DA showed nothing when he started the 2nd half and has showed little since. If he indeed does it that way I wouldn't be the least bit suprised if he's canned that night.
I'm almost right along with ya. I almost never get to my seats on-time, and have watched most fly-overs that we've had by the US Military from outside the stadium or peering out the openings of the concourse. HOWEVER, I will be in my seats early for this one because I think Dawgpound Mike is in it for his own publicity moreso than for the intentions of the boycott. If not, why don't he just hang a sign from his front-row dawgound seats, not wear the large lastic dawg bone hat, and wear a grocery bag instead, or wear black, or simply just not attend? However, I don't have a problem buying team merchandise. There are hundreds of thousands of peole just like you and me who make a living as a supplier, merchant, or other business extension from that of the NFL conglomerate. There are also fundraiser groups who work the concessions and may make profit depending on sales, bar tenders in stadium bars and restuarants that survive off tips and their wage. Lerner does not own the Browns for capital gain, this is a rather bleak industry compared to where his daddy made his coin. You'll just be hurting those who count on a consistient sub-business from the NFL and the Cleveland Browns.
My biggest problem with the merchandise is I'd like to own a jersey for a player who is going to be around for awhile. I know that in this era of free agency and quick trades that's a tough chance but JUST ONE??? PLEASE!!??
Will the boycott still go through if Mangini states in his press conference that Brady Quinn will receive the Bye week to prepare for a start against the Ravens on MNF?
NO.
Tiptoe around the subject all you want. Yell, bitch, and moan about the overall play and perceived direction of this team till you're blue (or brown) in the face but this is first and foremost about the QB position. If DA's play wasn't so tragic and if the offense would actually score points on a regular basis there would be no boycott. Yes we got rid of our playmakers for whatever reasons and no one has stepped up but the QB is the marquee position and DA has been truly bad.
Just for the record I'm anti boycotting the game but all for not buying any team merchandise. And for those going to the game try not buying any concessions while you're there. Yes beer included
way to be positive after a win......I was looking for the hell yeah we won threads but all I see is a bunch of negative people posting negative shit.
Getting a little tired of the "Where's the whoop whoop for the win you lousy Browns' fans?" I think it's safe to say the ALL browns' fans are thrilled the Browns won. But to get all excited about it isn't justified.. Horrible game from both sides. Whoop Whoop
Still laughing at the fact that after all our offensive woes these past 10 games we won without a touchdown. Just feels so right.
From what I've heard (not much) is he's ready, willing, and able but wants good cash. Don't know is the Browns want to go that route
Quote---First, that he's already pretty much accepted that whoever starts this year won't be starting next year, and that this year is just about getting the system in place so that the guy he drafts in 2010 will be able to jump right in.
Couldn't agree more. Mangini figures he's gonna be here at least 2-3 years so this year is a gimme since no one expects anything.
Just wanted to send a HUGE thank you to everyone on this thread. After wasting waaaay too much time on those poster bashing threads I find one that has great info and opinions. Not being able to watch many Browns games it's great to read your stuff. Here's hoping for more of the same throughout the season.
1. Barry Sanders so much fun to watch
2. Jerry Rice Got to meet him, shake his hand and now everything sticks to my right hand
3. Jim Brown too many yards too little time
4. Dan Fouts short passes? Puleeze!
5. Warren Beatty ooops you meant FOOTBALL players
1. Ravens (they should not exist!!)
2. Steelers (why are T. Smith and S. Holmes there?!)
3. Broncos (weep! Sob!)
4. Cowboys (see below)
5. Ravens (yes I hate them oh so much)
I laugh at myself at the small things that get me. Don't remember the year but it was a Browns at Dallas game when Staubach threw an interception and the Browns corner had a clear but long path to the end zone when Bob Hayes flew out nowhere to make the tackle short of paydirt. The Browns eventually lost the game and I've hated the Cowboys ever since. Just gotta laugh
