This article makes me feel much better about the situation. I would like to see RG3 as a Brown but I do not feel he is enough of a sure thing to give everything up for.

Browns Not Willing To Trade #22 -
Possible Scenario?First, I want to say that I haven't heard anything about this happening just something that I was thinking may be possible. Do you guys think it is possible that the rams may trade the 2nd pick to the skins (I think Synder is going to really overpay) and then trade back up to us to get the player they want. I realize they arent going to trade the 2nd pick and then give all those picks to us, but it may be possible that they trade a lesser package to us to get the player they want (Blackmon or Claiborn)who wont likely be there at 7.
What do you guys think? Is it possible or am I just crazy? If you think it is possible what would be likely pick up a 2nd and a 3rd?

How about that draft?Yes, but I'm sure you don't know why the lottery is instituted in the NHL. Back in 1971, the Montreal Canadiens were the top team in the league and had their eye on the top prospect and junior player, Guy Lafleur. The Canadiens knew they could not get the first pick, so they traded one of their top players to the worst team in the league, the Los Angeles Kings, for the Kings' first round pick. Despite acquiring a new talent, the Kings finished last in the league, giving the Canadiens the top draft choice. Guess who they picked. Lafleur.
Another aspect that contributed to the lottery become formatted in the NHL was throwing games. In 1974, the Capitals inaugural season, they started off terribly and lost almost 30 consecutive games. Once the Caps realized they had no shot at the playoffs, they began playing for draft positioning. Washington finisheD the season with an 8-67-5 record, the worst in NHL history. Guess who got the first pick. Washington.
Pretty interesting, huh?
I didn't know the NHL did a lottery every year. (Dont watch hockey) That is pretty interesting though. What I was refering to was the lottery system they used after the 94-95 lockout how they set up the draft for the following year.
-
How about that draft?of course, this is only if there stoppage next year right?
Correct. Im talking about no season next year what will they do for the 2012 draft.
-
How about that draft?how exactly is that fair? am i missing something?
Because the point of the draft ordering is to help the weakest teams become more competitive. If you just switch the order you are going to be giving what is still the "best" teams franchise players. I understand the viewpoint of the better teams, but I can't see them just switching the order. The more I think about it maybe the "fairest" way would be to average the draft positions of the last 5 years and do it that way. Obviously the Browns woulds do well in that system as well.
I guess they could do some sort of lottery with the teams with teams with the worst records getting more balls but with every team having a chance to be in any position, and then snake the rest of the draft. I was just reading I guess that is what the NHL did a few years back.
-
How about that draft?I just don't think it is i likely they would give the highest picks to the best teams like that. They may do something like average draft position over the last 5 or so years. Who knows.
Or another idea would be to do a snake draft per say but keep the original start so Carolina goes 1 and 65. That might be more fair. I did a quick google search and didnt really come up with anything.
-
How about that draft?Well, there would have to be 2 drafts. In the 2011 draft you use the original draft order and in the 2012 you completely flip the order and revert to the snake draft.
OR, on a completely different note, they could resort to the lottery, similar to the NBA and just determine the draft order that way. Since there was no past season though, each team would get 1 ball so every franchise has the same opportunity.
I just don't think it is i likely they would give the highest picks to the best teams like that. They may do something like average draft position over the last 5 or so years. Who knows.
-
How about that draft?Me too. I couldn't stand not having the NFL for a year. And yes, we would like to have two 6th overall picks, but what about the Patriots, Falcons, and Saints? They would bitch about getting screwed in the draft and Goodell would have no option but to resort to the snake draft.
I don't know... I think a lot of people would have a problem giving the defending super bowl champions the first overall pick. Im sure it is in the rule book someplace.
-
How about that draft? If there is no season next year then the team with the 32nd pick should get the 1st overall, like a snake draft. That would be the only rational way to do it.
That might be the most logical way to do it but I would rather us getting another high pick. (either way I would rather have the season be played)
-
How about that draft? My question is if there is no season next year do we get another 6th overall pick for the 2012 draft? If so that would be nice for Carolina.

Is the game blacked out today or not? Thanks, I'd been busy and hadn't heard.
In the middle of the season when things were darkest I would have been certain that they would have blacked these games out (Oakland, Jax, San Diego). I know we'll see lots of empty seats today but maybe this is a step in the right direction, as in we've hit bottom and are climbing back up.
I was offered a pair of freebies myself today and have already gone for free twice this year.
They arent playing it for the 3rd straight week here in Columbus. It sucks.

He Said We Would Run the BallI don't know how many of you remember before the started I think it was soon after he was hired Mangini said in an interview that we would run the ball this year and be successful at doing so. I remember this because it made an impression on me two different ways. #1 I thought boy that would be nice we have not been able to consistently run the ball at all since we have been back and that is what you need to do to consistently win. #2 I thought, yeah right we have heard plenty of times coaches tell us how he need to run the ball etc. I didn't think this "promise" was going to be any different.
With that said I have been impressed over the last few games how we have been having success running the ball. I wasn't sure what I thought about Mangini when we hired him, but after the draft I liked him a lot more then we lost some games (being nice there) and I lost some of my fire for him but over the last few games I really think he might be the guy for us to succeed with. I really hope we continue to let the guy work and hopefully we will continue to see the team grow. Let him spend some of our FA money and get his draft picks in here and see what he can do.

Empty StadiumWell, I think at halftime most of the people will be inside getting something warm, or won't they?
Yes you are right the shot right before the 2nd half started looked worse than it truly is but either way it isn't pretty.
-
Empty StadiumI know we are bad and the weather isn't great but just looking into the stands may be the most depressing part of this whole season.

Success or not, I hope Quinn don't get injured -
Success or not, I hope Quinn don't get injuredThe worst thing that can happen to the Browns right now is to have Brady Quinn go down before showing us much more than he can compete with the Washington Generals ... err. ... Detroit Lions.
Reading Bud Shaw's article today, Seriously, Browns quarterback Brady Quinn may get last laugh ... I took one thing from the article, "maybe he (Brady Quinn) will own the bizarre distinction of having a second head coach name him the starter for the following season, only to see that coach get fired shortly after." ... that ain't exactly a good track record after three seasons of grooming.
I just want to put this season behind us. I'm not very confident Quinn is any sort of answer, besides a punch line to getting consecutive coaches fired. In relation, Anderson prolonged Crennels and Savage tenure ... not sure which is worst.
Let's just get this thing over with, with Quinn playing every snap of every game in this putrid season. I'm hoping he plays well enough against the sub-par talent we have lined up the remainder of the season in order to gardner some sort of a trade ... I've given up on either of these two blokes making the roster next season.
Here's to drinking lots of milk and healthy bones!
Why not hope that he plays well enough to prove he can be OUR QB instead of just trade bait? Do you really hate him that much? I don't know if he will be any good or not so far he has look less than average, but I am still holding out hope that he just needs a few more games to prove be can do it in the NFL for US.

Kosar interested in GM jobnmills said:
Kosar says he's interested in being the Browns G.M.Posted by Mike Florio on November 9, 2009 6:06 PM ET
As Peter King first reported on Saturday, Browns owner Randy Lerner is looking to hire a "football czar" who would help turn around the franchise.
But with former Browns quarterback Bernie Kosar already wedging a foot in the door, the football czar will have to find a way to navigate Kosar's expectations.
Though Kosar's expectations remain to be seen, he seems to be interested in being the General Manager of the team.
"Part of me wants to do it," Kosar told Tony Rizzo of ESPN 850 in Cleveland, "but you have to see who you are working with and what say and what amount of organization and control and decision-making abilities you are going to be able to have."
Frankly, Kosar should have none. Though some former players have become highly competent executives (including former Browns tight end and current Ravens G.M. Ozzie Newsome), a guy doesn't just show up and become an expert in running a football team -- especially when that guy's personal finances are in shambles.
So just like the "football czar" will be relied upon to help Lerner extricate himself from a bad situation with coach Eric Mangini, Lerner also might need said czar to find a way to keep Kosar from getting his fingerprints all over the franchise.

I think most GMs have guys they hire to help with the money side of the contracts as well as the cap. I wouldn't mind us looking at his as a potential candidate. The guy knows so much football I think he might do a heck of a job and you know he wants it as bad for Cleveland as we do so no one will work harder. Maybe it is just wishful thinking at this point but I would like it.
