Still Got Fitz that year, but could have had your franchise QB in Eli Manning
Denny Greene said he'd have taken Fitz #1 overall that year, so I'm not sure it made much of a difference. Then again, don't all coaches say that their first round pick is exactly who they were targeting all along?
Go Cards!!!
I have to tip my hat to y'all. This is a serious quality thread. I've only been a fan of this franchise since they relocated to Arizona in '88, but consider myself well versed in their history... miserable as it mostly has been.
1. I heard the Kerry Collins stat on the radio the other day. Still find it surprising.
3. I didn't know Cards/Browns were ever in the same division.
4. Cards have a LONG list of terrible QB's during their time in AZ. D'Wreck Anderson is probably the most despised of the group.
5. Tupa. :shakes head:
9. First I've heard that we're 4-0 at home in the playoffs... pathetic that that stretch covers 95 years.
12-B. I knew about Joe Namath. He's not the only 1st round QB pick the Cards have had to refuse to play for the team. Kelly Stouffer was picked in the first round and sat out the entire year. Cards eventually traded his rights to Seattle.
12-C. Letting Jamir Miller (among several other key contributors from our '98 playoff win over Dallas) was one of the worst mistakes our Front Office ever made. First playoff win since '47.
Great thread.
Didn't Bruce Arians have health problems?
WSS
He gave up his college head coaching stint at Temple due to Health reasons, but that was back in the late 80's.
heres a good one too - or is this it (McCown-Poole)?
when you hate the Vikings like I do - hearing the deflation from the play by play guy (Paul Allen KFAN) is pure gold
Yep, that is the play. Unfortunately, it cost us the #1 pick in the draft, but was the highlight of a miserable season.
Go Cards!!!
I would argue that the advent of the super-slow-mo, HD, multiple instant replay from 12 different angles is what has ruined the game.
Bad and no-calls used to go unnoticed by the masses. Now, they are highlighted and discussed for days on end.
Here is some trivia, most about our upcoming opponent:
5. What player that lead the Cardinals in passing in a season lead the Browns in punting in a season?
Dear Lord, a Tom Tupa sighting. Thought I'd successfully deleted that from my memory banks a decade ago.
Greetings all.
Spent the last 30 minutes or so reading your board. Hoping for some good (non-trash-talking) interaction between now and game day.
Have to admit, I don't know much about the Browns at all. Know that most Cardinal fans still have a lot of respect for Dansby and McCown. McCown to Poole (google it) may be one only 3 highlights to come out of the Sun Devil Stadium days.
Anyway, hoping for a good, competitive game.
Go Cards!!!
