or mike holmgren is just getting the full experience of the front office job for a year or two before deciding he wants to coach again and having the understanding of the front office that he didn't have while doing the same thing in seattle.

I like keeping mangini and i like holmgren in the front office. Hell i might even like holmgren as a head coach down the line for the browns.

But im just a little bit skeptical at holmgren's intentions. Call me paranoid.

and by the way, he will not get traded, his contract negotiations will get settled probably at mini-camp, training camp time.

Its just the way things work, he's been waiting a while, patiently, playing hard and trying to get it done with his play. When he realized that this is not going to work, he needs to play every card he possibly can to get through to the team.

Making it public, threatening a hold-out, demanding a trade... all that stuff is just the economics of the business to get leverage. And i dont hold it against him, the man wants to get paid and he is doing everything he can to get what he thinks he deserves. He knows he doesn't deserve the 5mil he is trying to get, but he knows he deserves more than the rookie salaray and the 1.4mil that the browns current offer is.

The two are going to meet in the middle at around 2mil-2.5mil probably with some incentives at either the WR/KR/RB position.

They cannot let a leader of the team walk especially with mangini being retained and people are supposed to be buying into the system. It is just out of the question. He will be back, and he will get a reasonable deal, Its just the business part of the game taking over for a while.

trade him to baltimore or washington, so he can play for his hometown team and i can see him in my hometown market.

i wonder if they will tell cribbs that the team is moving in a different direction lol

all kidding aside. if we do not rework this contract, i am going to be in total shock. Didn't holmgren give them the O.K to pay the man?

ugh, i really think we shouldn't waste a 1st or 2nd on a QB. i think we can get by with a FA vet or later round rookie. or worst case DA or BQ for another season. QB i feel is the most risk position to try and pick early in the draft. and with clevelands past QB draft record.... there is reason to be worried.

The more i think about it, if suh/berry are not on the board still at 7 i am liking the trade down. We may be able to get REALLY good value for a team who really wants someone that is available at 7.

i thuoght furrey played well for being listed as a WR on the roster, but a playmaking hard hitting safety that can play the run and the pass is a fine pick at #7 if he falls to us. If he does not fall to us i would be fine either taking a tackle at 7 or trading down and grabbing some picks and a tackle a little later. I really don't want to see a QB drafted early. And im confident in our RB's with Harrison/Jennings/ Davis coming back from IR. We have tooo many WR projects as it is with cribbs,Momass,robo, and stallworth is coming out of jail i believe. Our TE situation is a little shaky, i do like having Evan Moore and i believe the big fella Adam Gaines is playing well.

My draft Strategy:

if suh = avail then take

if berry = avail then take

else Trade down and get a tackle a little later stockpile some picks to gain LB's/TE's/QB's/CB that we can develop

I would definitely like to see mangini come back for another year or 2 and just show what he can really do. If holmgren decides that is not a good idea, i would like to see who he brings in as GM and HC and see what staff members he keeps. I think holmgren can turn this team around with or without mangini.

I am not sure how i feel about the West Coast offense and having the right QB's playing in it. I would much rather see a phenominal running game and a lights out defense and play with our amazing special teams to dominate the field position battle and win games that way. Maybe its because i saw how well it worked for the ravens during their super bowl run (i live in maryland). I don't have any confidence in our passing game or our QB's/WR's. If i had to take one O-line+RB combination for our team next year i would stick with the browns personell and add a drafted RT.

hmm, tough one. I think the players are playing for both coaches. But i really feel the defense is playing for rob ryan. And its nice seeing a cleveland defense actually playing for something.

thanks ballpeen. I thought the conditional pick was based on braylons performance, common misconception i guess. But i think i figured out where the missing 11th pick is that im missing from the 10 i posted above. I think its the pick we got from Leonard. I believve we traded him to carolina for a 6th or 7th rounder i believe.

i think i read somewhere that if braylon edwards catches 55passes (lol i know right) then the jets 3rd rounder gets upgraded to a 2nd rounder. Does this 55catches only involve his play with the jets and not include the catches he made with the browns this season, and does this only apply to the regular season or does it also count postseason stats,

From what it looks like braylon has caught 45balls this season with 10 of those catches coming from the browns, giving him 35 for the jets regular season. If we can somehow get him to catch 20more balls in the postseason then its possible we get that 2nd rounder instead of the 3rd rounder. Long shot i know but there is always something to hope for.

I remember hearing that we had around 11 2010 draft picks, some of them were conditional picks i believe from either the edwards trade or the winslow trade.

I am not really sure how it has our pick bouncing from 6 to 7 to 8 in the different rounds. Maybe typo's but from my count that is only 10 draft picks. And i remember some of the picks being conditional picks in that they have a chance to improve from what they were originally scheduled to be, and i was wondering if walterfootball was taking this stuff into account when it was creating this list.

If this site is erroneous could someone give me a better list that i can look at, would be much appreciated.

Oh and what are we looking to do with the #7 pick overall, i would be fine taking Suh if he falls but unlikely, same thing with berry, i don't think he will fall though, a RT would be the most probable pick or just a tradedown like last year.
