Yeah, I think we will be agressive to land front seven guys that fit Jauron's 4-3 and recievers ideal for West coast. we also will be lookng for a young RT type to anchor that right side and don't forget our holes at safety and corner.I think the only thing we WON"T be looking for is QB, FB, RB, TE and C. guess we'll need a kicker too.

--Heckert has his work cut out with FA and draft ... let's hope he does as well as last year (McCoy, Watson, Hillis, Haden, Ward, etc..)
No RB? Who is going to share the load with Hillis
Bye. thanks for the memories. TUIMM
Central State is a traditional "all black" school. Wilberforce is next door to Xenia (near Dayton). There is actually a Wilberforce University there as well. In fact that area has a number of schools. Within about a 15 mile radius you also have Cedarville College, Fortis College, Wilmington College and the now defunct Antioch College in Yellow Springs.
FYI
Upon hearing in 2007 that Antioch University would close their alma mater, the alumni of Antioch College mobilized and negotiated to purchase their historic campus, the 1,000-acre Glen Helen nature preserve and the Antioch Review literary magazine. Antioch College's emergence as an independent institution is unprecedented in higher education.
The first class of the independent Antioch College will enter in the fall of 2011. The College is undergoing a multi-phased accreditation process with the goal of achieving accreditation that will apply to the first graduating class. The College is also in discussions with accredited colleges and universities to create a partnership arrangement allowing Antioch College courses to be recognized by partner institutions for possible transfer credit.
There are or were a number of teams looking for new coaches:Oakland
San Fran
Denver
Dallas*
Minnesota*
Cleveland
Cincinnati
Carolina
and maybe Tenn. and maybe Miami.
* Teams made interim coaches full time
The question is: Where are all the big name coaches that were supposed to be candidates for jobs this year:
The Grudens, Cowhers, Billicks, maybe Tony Dungy, maybe others.
It seems to me, now, that not many of these are necessarily candidates for these coaching openings.
Are these guys going to all stick with their media gigs?
Is the coaching profession so...stressful, perhaps that these guys that have been to the mountaintop no long wish to vye for it again?
So, what is up?
You can remove Cincinnati....Marvin Lewis signed a new contract.

I hope the Browns fans quit discussing the post season AS OF NOW because their team is unpacking boxes and moving home for the off season. If this is a Browns Board then no more discussions on the Steelers or any other playoff team. OK?
The fans of the Cleveland Browns thank you choosing to post on the The Browns Board in lieu of other team's boards. Your support of Cleveland and this board is appreciated. Go Browns!
Happy New Year Everyone. Go Browns 2011 !!!
Merry Christmas to all Browns fans, here, there and everywhere !!!!
Hoorta i live in Dayton as well and am going to go down and buy some scalped tickets for the game, but word is the game may be on at Tagerts in Patterson park. They have a pretty good dish, another place to check would be Katz and Clancys both have old school dishes that can dial in Cleve networks. if you havent been to Tagerts its by far the best Browns bar in the area. Hope this helps..
ITHIKA, you're right Taggarts is the best Browns bar around Dayton. I have been a member of the Browns Club there since 2001. They have NFL Ticket so every Browns game is on there. Next best thing other than being at the game. FYI, Hoorta met me there a couple of years ago for a game. Free grilled burgers etc. even for non-members, can't beat it. Hope to see you there sometime. Feel bad for the kid and his dad. I don't think it is fair to portray Dad as cowardly. Bottom line, he got his son out of a volatile situation. Behavior like this crosses the line of human decency. Hopefullly, somein the crowd who witnessed the assualt, meted out the proper medicine for this drunk....a severe, life changing pummeling.
Agree...what a despicable ass
From this old Vietnam Vet & slightly before the calendar turns to Veteran's Day, November 11, a huge thank you goes out to those who served & serve. When I say "serve", I speak not only of those who wore our country's great uniforms, but also of those Patriots at home who supported us (and support those currently serving) with their love and prayers. I refer to all, in & out of uniform, as "Servers".
Please do the following, if you are able:
1) WRITE those serving as NOTHING boosts morale more than letters from loved ones back in "The World".
2) If you see a uniformed person in a bar or restaurant, BUY them a drink, desert, a meal, or even pick up their check! If you can't do any of those, shake their hand & just say "Thanks!".
I've posted this on several boards. I'm not eloquent, but I can't say it any better, so I'll just repeat myself.
Thanks & God Bless my Brother & Sister "Servers".
Mike
Thanks Mike, from one "Nam" vet to another
Can't imagine why Moss would go to anybody he can't put over the top and into serious contention. I don't see us fielding a QB who's gonna downfield enough to keep him happy anyway. On the other hand, it does seem like other teams can take on different kinds of personalities while we're trying to win Miss Congeniality or something.
Agree.....nice to see you back.
Alright guys, I was basically offered a job at iHop and it would be my first job, going from 9am to 2pm on saturday and Sunday, the problem had already been stated.I need some help making this choice, I love watching this team but you know were already 1-5, so what are your thoughts?
When I was a Police Officer I worked the 6a - 2p shift on Sun. still made the local Browns bar in time for the begining of the 3rd quarter......take the job
Be warned while the offensive coaches arent directly responsible for everything that is wrong here almost everything ends up finding its way back to mangini's table as it is the HC that approves and sets up the general perimeters of the personnel/strategy/gameplanning/practice methods/opportunity rewards, motivation and so on...so without further a due i will give my outsiders take,I see the problems of this teams offense as an absolutely toxic mix of bad coaching and particularly bad repetitive playcalling and design that does not mix things up enough, theres simply not enough proper or creative on the fly player substitution or WR route changing to create doubt and it allows defenses to literally key in on our playmakers with little or no fear of retribution combined with too many non impact players and or under/wrongly utilized players due to the coaches player frustrating even spirit breaking way of determining who plays from week to week or even play to play...simply put he either dislikes certain players or does not trust them or both and the bottomline is it hurts everything including the OCs playcalling and even his on the fly substitution options...
Our playcaller fails to be creative maybe partially because mangini makes him stick to a gameplan and a set of personnel and maybe not, but thats what i keep coming up with anyways, and because of this dabs may find it hard to freely add variation and operate like an OC should be able to...we know the jets OC brian shottenslimer complained to tannenbaum quite often about mangini strangulating and modifying his offense gameplans and playbook and even player substitutions and once farve was forced on mangini the coach pushed brian into modifying his playbook to suit farves pocket passer style which turned out to be a disaster and the likely straw that led to mangini being canned, so we know mangini likes to control every aspect of the game which also leads us to why mangini most likely brought a newbie OC to cleveland knowing full well we needed a pro OC...CONTROL! but along with that full control comes full blame and he doesnt want any part of that and has done a good job of lining daboll up for slaughter...
While he has fooled a lot of over optimistic sheeple fans...i doubt he has fooled holmgren unless holmgren is going to play along in the hope and prayer that mangini can actually learn to coach as a leader instead of a control freak and if thats the case the browns are cooked for 5 more years minimum...and in the beginning mangini has a huge 4 year history of rather shabby to mediocre coaching plus both player and assistant distrust and dislike in him and his methods not to mention jets fans hate him and in the end he has over a year of the same kind of charades here in cleveland...
The players will not speak up nor anyone associated directly to the organization for obvious reasons and sheeples should be aware that you cant always believe what you here but i see the problem as what it is, poor coaching in general...
The truly good coaches find ways to win with what they have and that means mixing things up and adjusting the gameplan and personnel on the fly if and when needed our coach seems to think the QB isnt the most important position and that you can get the ball to 4 player all day and win...just bad coaching plain and simple...
To many limitations and even expectations under those limitations being placed on everyone to feel fear free and self motivated and to just have fun while playing to win...mangini is to busy playing to lose...
The only thing that could be fixed by sunday is if mangini magically transforms into an NFL caliber coach and changes his idiotic philosophies...
I dislike the musical coach carousel as much if not more than many but i do believe we need a change or we will spend at least the next 5 years after this year hovering at or below 8-8...
In a crisis, don't hide behind anything or anybody. They are going to find you anyway.

You can motivate by fear, and you can motivate by reward. But both those methods are only temporary. The only lasting thing is self motivation.

My responsibility is leadership, and the minute I get negative, that is going to have an influence on my team.

Either love your players or get out of coaching.

Make sure that team members know they are working with you, not for you.

Leadership, like coaching, is fighting for the hearts and souls of men and getting them to believe in you.

Coaching is a profession of love. You can't coach people unless you love them.

Very good Gips....Thanks
Mods, please remove this BS post. Thanks
It is a good read and points to what many of us have been thinking. WE HAVE NO GOOD RECEIVERS. Check that - we have a couple GOOD receivers, but none that are great or ever really good.In this day and age, you need playmakers.
We have none.
Agree. I would love to see Bernie as our OC or QB coach at the least, if he would accept the offer of course, if it was made.
We need see Brown pants.
We DON"T NEED see BROWN pants
I still say that had Tim Couch had the supporting cast around him he probably would have been successful, and perhaps even still with this team. While he wasn't the most talented, he had heart, and proved on a couple of occasions in his short career with the Browns that he could lead the team to a comeback victory. I feel bad that this organization by not giving him an O-Line and a legitimate RB (William Green? Ben Gay? Come on?) which in turn ruined his career. Wasn't he sacked like 56 times in his rookie year? Of course Butch's guuuuuuuuuuttttttttttt feelin' didn't help this kid either. It's too bad, because I actually liked the guy.
Totally agree
