He almost killed Massoquoi and Cribbs in the same game! I thought the exact same thing... about Wheeeeden. The Red Zone in-route to Little that he "dropped" (as he was getting hammered by the Safety) was a classic example. He starred at Little from the snap! THAT is what gets receivers killed! It is obvious after watching Weeden and switching to Colt that his arm-strength isn't good enough to be elite. His ball takes so long to get to the reciever that even when he is accurate, the defenders have time to cold-cock our poor recievers right after the ball is caught. It's no wonder Little started to get alligator arms last year. First, by all accounts Little got better as last year progressed. Second, while I have never maintained that Colt can or would become "elite", a strong arm is not a prerequisite for elite status. Right now competent sounds pretty good to me. It is important especially with our recievers to get them the ball in space and let them do work. Little, Benjamin, and Cribbs are all very good YAC guys but Colt does not deliver a quick enough ball to take advantage of this. Our receivers have to get open first, which if you'll recall they did on a couple of occasions in week 1 and Wheeeedon flat ass missed them. Also Wheeeedon "winds up".... he may have the velocity edge on Colt, but release time is also part of the equation and Wheeeedon does not have a "quick" release. Weeden obviously couldn't throw it in the ocean last Sunday, but he sure provides a lot more upside than Colt. I just don't think McCoy's ceiling is high enough to be a superbowl winner. Why continue on with a QB that can't take you all the way? That's at least what the FO was thinking last Spring. You are simply placing way too much on Wheeeeden's as yet unproven arm. There is soo much more to becoming a successful NFL QB. And in answer to your question... 31 teams have a QB who cannot take them "all the way" every year. What a pantload... Guess people can see anything they want to see.
