Green, Jones, and Blackmon seem to be the clearcut top 3, and should all be top 15 or at least top 20 picks. Floyd and Blackmon have some questions after that (speed and maturity for Baldwin, durability for Floyd) but have as much upside as the top 3. So we have 5 legitimate potential #1 WRs in this draft, and by #1 WR I mean Roddy White, Larry Fitzgerald, Andre Johnson elite type players. They have that much talent if they can put it together in the pros.

WRs in the Draft -
Mike Mayock Draft Guru On McCoyOn that one interception that bounced off of Watson's hands, it was forced like Wilcots said, but it was a dead accurate throw deep over the middle of the field. If Watson caught that then we'd be goggling over how great a throw that was. Impressive debut.

Biggest position of need for the Browns?WR. After that I'd say DE and another safety. If McCoy has a shitty rest of the season I'd say QB ends up at #1 again. I really want a stud pass rushing OLB too.
-
The Alex Smith MethodAlex Smith is finally starting to look like a decent starting QB (at times, he's still a bit inconsistent), but I think that if they didn't rush him in as a rookie and then go through a new offensive coordinator like every single season since they drafted him then he would've come along a lot quicker and smoother. Either way he's nowhere near as great as Aaron Rodgers, who they passed on and a lot of people said they should've taken.

2010 Captainsthat, or your QB raped someone recently.

Crunching the numbersI can assure you they keep 3 QBs, 6 DL, 3 TEs, and 5 WRs. LB, DB, and OL are where we gotta figure out who the surprise cuts and keeps are.

David Bowens future uncertainI dont know if im building a team and I had to chose between a 33 year old LB, or my second round pick from a year ago...the writings on the wall
Mangini has said that Veikune has impressed him on the deffensive side the same way that Robiskie has impressed him on the offensive side during the offseason. It's not like he's not getting better, going from your hand in the dirt to standing up and being in pass coverage is a hugh transition. He may or may not be able to do it, but you dont give up on him after a year.
yeah, but we're talking about dropping a guy who started basically every game for us last season and played well and keeping a young guy who hasn't done anything in his two preseasons and has never been active for a regular season game. It's not like they can't stash Veikune on the practice squad either.
-
David Bowens future uncertainsince they cut Lawson it sounds like they'll keep 4 true cornerbacks (Wright, Brown, Haden, McDonald) and Adams who can play corner or safety. I wonder who they'll keep instead if they let Bowens go. It's tough having to overcome injury and the natural decline of your game with age like he's had to, but I think he's more valuable than a younger guy with little upside like Veikune, especially with Jackson on the rocks for a few weeks.

Good and Badour depth on the OLine I don't think is as bad as it seems. Womack, Pashos, and Lauvao weren't playing last night. Any team is gonna struggle to find a decent replacement when 3 of your top 4 strongside linemen aren't active. The guy starting at right guard (Yates) wasn't gonna make the team by any stretch. I think we have 3 right tackles who can start in the NFL and conceivably do a solid job in Pashos, St.Clair, and Kooistra - even though St.Clair and Kooistra aren't exactly any better than average on a good day.

Chris Gocong impresses at Browns campMangini wanted Gocong bad when he was with the Jets, but the Eagles took him and made him their run-stuffing SAM linebacker. I think he'll live up to what potential he has in the 3-4 with Rob Ryan coaching him. Excited to see a run stuffer like him at ILB lining up next to Jackson, and hopefully he can provide a good pass rush from inside blitzes as well. Guys like him and Fujita and Bowens and Veikune being so versatile that the line between OLB and ILB being blurred is a good assett to have in a 3-4 scheme.
-
VeikuneIn OTAs there was talk about him focusing solely on ILB this year instead of both ILB and OLB, and he's lost weight and looked better in the spring, practicing with the 2nd team and maybe the 1st team too but I'm not sure. Haven't heard anything about him thus far in training camp, but then again there's a lot of players you don't hear about doing good or bad after just a week of camp.

Big Ass Bull Dozersit would be huge if we found a young core of OL in Thomas/Mack/Lauavo - one of which is an all-pro and another of which is on his way to being an all-pro.

Hardesty Injured - per NFL.comLooks like the kid could be a walking injury after all...lets hope not but this early in it isnt looking good...
that's what they said about Adrian Peterson after he got hurt as a rookie. Let's not jump to conclusions, lots of guys who were injury prone in college never got hurt in the NFL and vice versa. We shouldn't worry until he gets more injury prone in the NFL. He looked great in spring, hopefully he can come back 100% and look great in the fall.

Browns draft picks...why does everyone say we need to send BMac packing? He's not a good starting CB but he's a good 4th cornerback. It's not like he has a contract of anything but a 5th round pick.
-
Offseason Reportwhoever wrote that is a very cynical moron. I always find these draft grades the day/week after the draft comical to look at 3 years down the road to see how completely wrong 90% of them are, especially the ones that blatantly bash every perceived reach or heap praise on all the steals that turn out to really suck (Leinart, Matt).

Quinn to be releasedhe and jamarcus russell can start their own team.

How essential is it that one of the rookie safeties start?I think it's a lot more to ask for a rookie DB to start than it is for a rookie offensive lineman, runningback, receiver, or linebacker to start. DB is one of the hardest positions for a rookie to play in today's NFL. Only harder spot is probably QB. Most rookie DBs, even top picks, play nickelback or 3rd safety early in their careers. Meriweather didn't start in New England for at least 2 years.
I think we're gonna start of with Brown/Wright/Adams/Elam as the top 4, but eventually move to Wright/Haden/Brown/Elam.....and in maybe a year or two we'll see Wright/Haden/Brown/Ward. We'll need another starting safety to replace Brown eventually. I wouldn't put that kind of expectation on Asante.
