How about his season turnovers? What about his inaccuracy or his lack of touch? Is it any surprise Coleman dropped that pass, probably never in a million years did he expect it to go where it was supposed to, hell- I bet Kizer was even surprised. A blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while. Sorry but 1 accurate pass out of 8 attempts does not scream QBOTF. Kizer blows and I can't wait until we're done with his entitled butt.

He started by holding the ball too long, he's better at that now.

Also, his TTT was too high, that's better now too.

Also, he wasn't throwing the ball away, now he is.

Also, he threw too many int's, those are trending better too.

Also, his QBR stunk, that's better.

Also, his PFF grade was always poor, now he's been at the top twice in the last 3 weeks.

Also, he had the best game, as bad as it sounds,  of the AFCN QB's vs the Jags D.  Well, Dalton was similar, but Big Ben threw 5 picks, and Flacco threw for 29 total yards.

Totally agree he's not to be named the QBotF, but he does have some signs of improvement.

And I'll confess I'm glass half fulling-it, but am also intrigued enough to want to see the month of December.

FYI, PFF rankings in week 12.  Kizer comes in at #2, behind Rivers at #1.

Other notables, Wentz #9, Manning #28, Mitch #29, and Bortles at #32.

Speaking of which, maybe Njoku is settling in (at the ripe old age of 21).  Lots of posts and short-vids on his blocking in the last 2 days.

Ha.  I did a trade-down mock this morning on FanSpeak.  I was hard to pull the trigger.  It was my "what if Kizer looks the part enough to roll with him" trade-down scenario, which I'm still not crazy about.  If done, it probably would be for future draft picks, not 2018 picks, but the simulator keeps the picks in-year.

    Anywho:

At Chagers:          Doubtful.  They could be playing better than any team we have left.

    Packers (Home): No

    Ravens (Home): No

At Bears:              We have a chance at this one.

    At Steelers:          No

Agree with all, except the Packers don't have Rogers, Mitch is hardly lighting it up for the Bears, and the Steelers will rest players, oh, and Flacco is having a bad year.

    I dunno, maybe?

Kizer, a 1st rounder, and then a 4th rounder, like Allen or the NC State kid, I'd be up for.

Luck?  Pass.  Bad shoulder and although we also commonly hear "there's no Andrew Luck in this draft class", he hasn't really lived up to the hype for various reasons.

He was a raw, 21 year old prospect thrown in a losing team with terrible receivers around him, not a huge rushing game and a terrible coach.

After 11 games, the receivers and the coach still there, and you can see that he has improved. It was easy for him to improve, he set the bar pretty low in the first games, but you can see that he fights and tries to keep learning.

I still think that we should be aggresive next offseason with the position, both in FA and in the draft even if he plays great these last games, but man I would be really happy if he succeeded.

    ^^^ totally agree ^^^

Still wouldn't mind drafting a Josh Allen type, or the NC State kid, even if we decide to go all-in Kizer.

Huge test this Sunday on the left coast.  The Chargers edges and DB's are legit, and Bosa will be applying pressure for sure.  Add that we're without Collins and Ogbah, and Rivers seems to have hit a groove.

It'd be huge if Kizer can pull out a win, even if it's a sloppy 2 TD 2 INT + a strip-sack type of game.

I feel bad for Quinn as I really think the Browns sucker punched him.

He grows up a Cleveland fan in Ohio and the Browns trade a ton to come up in the draft to get him. Such a move gives the impression the team really wants him, and with this impression, will look for a reason to start him, sooner rather than later.

BUT, the Browns use every reason they can not to start him. After 2 long years of riding the pine, he's given 10 quarters to get things going against the top D's. When he can get it done, the back-up lays an even bigger egg and somehow gets the team's nod. He is cast to the side with no indication he will ever be considered again. As he sits on the side lines, the current QB completes 2 of 17 against a terrible team and there is no hint of worry from the HC, only words of positive reinforcement. Quinn knows if he would have stumbled into a couple of field goals to get the W, there would have been hell to pay, and none of this "a win is a win" crap.

You can't make this stuff up.

Here's hoping DA comes in and lights up the Steelers. There is zero indication this will happen, but stranger things have happened.

  • Claussen vs Tebow for the Heisman

All cool guys. So, agreed. We draft Claussen. Excellent.

Beano on just now. He says is Tebow goes undefeated, he wins it. However, if Florida loses and Claussen beats USC, well then game on.

And on the QB front, Colin talking about "step-up" programs this morning. In other words, which programs step up and win the big games. Florida and SoCal being the best recent examples. Which takes us back to the well known stat revealing DA has beaten one winning team. He's not a step-up QB. He gets nervous and folds. I don't want to start over with another QB, but we may be stuck.

Cowherd favors Tebow, but Claussen is in the conversation. His arm stregth is superior to Tebow's. So, when the NFL guys start the arm-strength stuff, who will be drafted first?

    Hmmm.

  • Kosar's slurred speech
    OconReconO OconRecon
    The Browns Board

I know we all joke here about Bernie's speech. Some say he's drunk, I'll give you he sounds like it, others say he has a "neurologic condition", which is more accurate.

He has CTE - Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy from repetitive concussions. It effects everyone differently before it usually progresses to full dementia. In Bernie's case, his main symptom, or at least his public symptom, is slurred speech.

60 minutes did a segment last weekend on such concussions: http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=5377319n

Players of all ages, sooner or later, will have to be cleared via neuropsychiatric testing, which are not yet fully standardized. One thought is this all started with the incorporation of plastic helmets, ironically initially intended to protect the brain. Yet in the leather helmet days, the lack of protection discouraged players from using their helmet as the main point of contact, leading some to hypothesize leather helmets lead to LESS concussions.

Some neurologists are requesting more helmet studies be performed, all helmet to helmet contact be made illegal, and the elimination of the three point stance.

It's not known where this will all lead. Things are going to eventually change some, but to what degree, and when, is yet to be determined.

Anyway, I don't mean to post about concussions. Many here may already know about this disease process, but I thought Bernie's condition could use a bit of friendly understanding.
