Help, decision time! -
Head-to-Head Hits & New Rule Discussiondude are you even smart enough to understand? i said i agree with what the nfl is doing to prevent helmet to helmet hits. if you don't fine. if most of the players don't fine. what would you tell little timmy when his hero hines ward is folded up like a cheat suit on the ground looking like a dried up raisin getting carted off the field, only to find out he'll never walk again. little timmy sees him on the sidelines in a wheelchair being operated by a tube in his mouth. "Oh timmy, it's football. it's just the way it is. there is no way to make it safer by banning helmet to helmet hits. but let's go get hines's autograph. oh wait.......... HE CAN'T MOVE!!!!!!" man i'm up on current events. i know most players don't agree with it. so what? most of them can't even speak the english language. do we want them making decisions for us?
So you think these guys don't know the risks before they signed on the dotted line? they know the risks, and they know one other thing also..
mass * acceleration= force. basic law of physics. So does the nfl make mass or acceleration illegal? Intentional helmet to helmet is one thing, but you still can't fight physics, and sometimes they cannot be avoided.

Head-to-Head Hits & New Rule Discussionyeah, well they are wrong. just like you. just because they play for the browns doesn't mean everything they say is right or smart. we'll leave that to you guys and your players who you defend through thick and thin.
Yeah you are right it is only the Steelers that is calling this BS.

Steelers only team complaining about new disciplinary action.

NFL.com selling pictures of Harrison and Meriweather hitsLMAO check this out. What a bunch of hypocrits.

Head-to-Head Hits & New Rule DiscussionTeh real issue is the fact that the NFL is talking out of both sides of their mouths. Just like Fujita said, they want to fine players for big hits, yet they show the same big hits on every channel in every top play countdown.
Big hits are part of the game, and let's face it....we all love them. Helmet to helmet hits are pretty black and white. There's always going to be a fine on them, and there always should be. But this new rule is basically including intent, and that's not as cut and dry to determine.
Did Harrison look like he intended to take off both Cribbs and MoMass' heads? Yeah. And that's the reason the NFL is fining him.
Did Harrison actually intend to knock these guys (near) unconscious? Yes and no. Hell, he's a defender. That's what they're out there to do. They're taught to put the fear of God in whoever they're playing. But I don't think he was intending to cause them any lasting physical damage.
Intent is hard to determine. This is a contact game, and these hits are commonplace. They're exciting, and they make for good entertainment. Defensive coaches encourage big hits, and any coach loves when his runningback takes it to a would-be tackler. These big hits make the NFL, so it's kind of bullshit for the NFL to take them away.
Yes, Harrison launched himself. Yes, Harrison led with his head. No, Harrison did not arch his neck back and bring his arms on the hit. He basically torpedoed each guy and, to the NFL, that adds up to intent. And for Harrison, intent costs him about $75,000 out of his pocket. I don't necessarily agree with it, but that's how the cookie crumbles.
What the NFL really needs to do is provide better healthcare for the players once they retire. That's the reason they're putting skirts on the players now, so they don't have to pay later.
1. Harrison did not launch himself.
2. Harrison was actually trying to go low.
3. The receiver went low
4. The ref was standing right there with a clear view of the hit, obviously if Harrison launched himself, he would have drawn the flag.
Want proof? Here you go.

Head-to-Head Hits & New Rule Discussion1. Spare me the separate the receiver from the ball argument. Been there. Done that. See TJ Ward. I agree it's his job.
2. Don't give me the "crouching Massaquoi" crap. James Harrison left his feet and launched with the crown of his helmet into his neck area. He wasn't aiming for his gut.
3. McCoy and any other QB makes that throw. It wasn't behind the receiver at all. Massaquoi gets paid to go over the middle like Hines Ward does.
You're blindly defending your player for no other reason than he's a Steeler. If he was on some other team you wouldn't go to these lengths to defend him when the video evidence and the league feels that he's hit someone illegally.
Quite obvious that you did not watch the game at all, you are just running your mouth.

now there are the two pics both show Harrison with his feet firmly on the ground, in fact he has his legs bent, they also show Massaquoi going low to hot Harrison. BTW Massaquoi is 6'1" and Harrison is 6'0"
Also notice the ref looking directly at the hit. If Harrison would have launched, he would have gotten the flag.
Now before you run your mouth try watching the game.

The hit on Cribbs was equally dirty. You don't point the top of your helmet and charge at teh side of a guy's hear who is already in teh grasp and on his way to the ground. It doesn't matter what you Steeler faggots say, the bottom line is Hattison got fines AND CALLED OUT, don't forget that little tidbit........ CALLED OUT FOR BEING A REPEAT OFFENDER.
Harrison isn't a good player, IF you take away his dirty hits, he makes maybe 2 tackles per game.
THe guy smokes poles like Kordell Stewart does.
I would GLADLY fight Harrison 5-2 minute rounds, 8 ounce gloves, no head gear at the Browns stadium after the season. I need a little time, not much, to train.
If somebody knows this faggot bitch, call his agent and tell him Tommy Volinchak, AKA Ghoolie, at 56 years old will beat his big, clumsy, steroid induced ass into the Cleveland pavement. I knocked Mike Boswell on his ass and took hits from Ted Gullick. I'll smash this pussy worse than Too Tall Jones got it when he tried to box.
He ain't saying crap now, is he?
Internet tough guy? Or Troll? Maybe both?

Head-to-Head Hits & New Rule DiscussionHere is a proposal to the NFL.
1. Running backs or receivers who lower their head to attempt to run through a tackler will be fined $50,000. The coaches who teach this will be fined $100,000.
2. Linebackers, or other defensive players who attempt to dislodge the football, or make a receiver afraid of coming into their territory by hitting them, will be fined $150,00
3. Any defensive player who weighs more than an offensive player cannot hit him. There will be weight checks before the game and a list will be given to the defensive players naming the players they are allowed to hit.
4. A receiver going across the middle, must be allowed to catch the ball and then run 10 yards, before a defensive player attempts to make contact.
5. Uniforms will be replaced with dresses, the refs will decide who is the sexiest and the team they play for will be spotted 14 points.

Head-to-Head Hits & New Rule Discussionso how much is Massaquoi going to be fined? Here is why I am saying this. Check out these stills.

Notice Harrison has his legs bent

Now notice Harrison still has his legs bent. and Massaquoi is lowering his head, as evidenced by the obvious bend in his back from the still. Now here is the kicker, James Harrison is only 6'0" and Massaquoi is 6'1". This is a case of a linebacker lining up to make a hit at chest level, but the receiver, or ball carrier lowering his head to make contact.

Head-to-Head Hits & New Rule Discussion"If it's an illegal hit under the rules, then you're going to be held accountable. We get the pushback all the time that, 'What's a defender to do?' Well, we, in these situations, have to say the defender has to adjust his target area. The player has to wrap up. He has to do the things more fundamentally that we used to do ... when we used to tackle back in the day. We would like them to do more of that. But with the seriousness of the head and neck trauma and concussions generally, we've got a responsibility to just make sure that players understand and adapt."
What?

So the moron wants to go back to those days, LMAO
So lets forget about trying to injure players, lets try to kill them. Anderson is an idiot.

Head-to-Head Hits & New Rule DiscussionBlatant head to head shots, ok I can see that, but would someone please tell me what the hell a devastating hit is?

Head-to-Head Hits & New Rule DiscussionWell the crying has finally paid off. Football is ruined. No more hard hits are allowed, anyone tagging a receiver going across the middle is going to get suspended. Thank You very much for destroying the second professional sport in this country. Baseball was first, now it's football's turn.
The NFL will announce by Wednesday that, effective this weekend, even first-time offenders face suspension for "devastating hits" and "head shots," according to Ray Anderson, the league's executive vice president of football operations.
I guess the players should just take off the uniforms and sit down to a nice game of tiddly winks. Football was a contact sport, but contact is no longer allowed. A truly sad, sad day.
-
Head-to-Head Hits & New Rule DiscussionYes Harrison said the fines don't matter, Ray Lewis would say the same thing as would most linebackers and other defensive players. Guys this is the NFL it is a game where emotions run high, psychology runs amuck and it gets physical. The fines don't matter to the players because if they did, then players would become hesitant everytime they hit a player. That is not the way you win football games. these guys make millions of dollars, a few thousand to them does mean nothing.

Head-to-Head Hits & New Rule DiscussionONLY The MoMass hit is in question. If Fine happens there , i can sort of see that. But I still think its all sissified. Play Football.
First off, I hope Cribbs and Massaquoi get well fast. Now that being said, Cribbs was acting as a running back, there is no helmet to helmet in that case, because he is not defenseless. NFL rules, stupid yes, but none the less that is the rule.
Secondly, Unless you are on the field, you don't know what actually transpired. Television does destort certain things, because of the angles and so forth. Now I am not saying it was not head to head, from the views it APPEARS to have been head to head. The key word there is appears. The refs were on the field, they had a much better perspective of what actually happened, so I trust them to get it right, what other choice is there really?
Third, is that Harrison is a ball hawk, he tries to dislodge the football anyway he can, granted using your head is not a great idea, but it just shows the level of competitiveness players have. I don't think it was intentional in either case.
This is just my opinion of course.

Colt McCoyHi Browns fans, I am a new member and a Steelers fan.
I just want to say I am very impressed with Colt McCoy. I think the Browns have indeed found a legitimate QB. There should be no shame that the Browns lost today. Many a veteran QB have played in Pittsburgh against our defense, and a lot faired much worse than Colt did. The kid hung tough and has a good arm.
