And believe it or not Bill Belichick was the last Browns coach to win a playoff game

Bruce Arians exposes Butch Davis -
Brian Daboll New Dolphins OCGood reminder Peen, also Browns fans are quick to forget that Maurice Carthon was run out of town on a rail a few years back, now Asst HC of the Chiefs. Arians was the one that really killed me though, coming off of a 2002 playoff season (which was a phenomenal offensive year) Butch gets rid of all veterans to get younger, the Couch-Holcomb debate runs all year long and William Green begins his long descent and we lose something like 6 of the last 7 that year. So what do Browns fans do? Of course, run the OC out of town on a rail. Now I've got to see Arians on the Steeler sideline with a headset on every week. Daboll getting hired is no surprise, given the track record of our OC's after our fans run them out of town, the only surprise is there weren't multiple teams bidding for him.

QBR and Team SuccessGood post Shep, just to add to the stat fest, in the last 10 years post Palmer, the Browns have thrown more TD passes than INT's only twice and you can all guess the years, 2002 and 2007. This team is much closer to being a competitive team in the playoff hunt than most think, we need a QB and the sorry fact is we haven't had one since Bernie. There is more to it than just the QB, but imo the selection of the next QB is as if not more important than the HC, especially since we need to match up with Flacco and Roethlisberger 4 times a year.

Defense got beat like a Red Headed StepchildWe lost the rushing battle 188-59, Fujita wouldn't have mattered that much. Last six games our defense has given up an avg of 160 yds rushing per game, try and find an NFL team that gives up 160 yds rushing and still wins the game. Everyone is bashing Daboll, but with this kind of rush defense we are going to lose most games with Peyton Manning as our QB and Bill Walsh calling our offensive plays. Ryan is overrrated, but this is on Mangini.

3 reasons daboll will NOT get fired......"Daboll is toast"
Given our experience of tossing OC's out of town only then to replace the entire coaching regime the following year, the better question is whether Mangini is "toast". Those who just want Daboll to be tossed out don't need "to get over it", better to explain why "this time is different" and getting rid of the OC will not give us the same sad results after running Arians, Carthon and Chudzinski out of town.

3 reasons daboll will NOT get fired......A few NFL teams needing an OC eagerly awaits the Browns fans to once again run their OC out of town. Let's see, Bruce Arians run out of town - currently OC of the Steelers. Maurice Carthon run out of town - currently asst head coach of the Chiefs. Rob Chudzinski run out of town - currently asst head coach of the Chargers. Ignorance is not knowing something, stupidity is knowing and doing it anyway. Running Daboll out of town would not be ignorant given our history that's for sure. What the Browns need is continuity in coaching, and a GM that knows how to draft, make the big trades and fill out the bottom of the roster, all of which we have in Heckert and Holmgren. We are making progress and need to stay with the plan.

Holmgren InterviewThe Big Show has just thrown his name out there for Zygi Wolf and Jerry Jones, rather than trying to undercut Mangini. Dallas and Minnesota are both teams TBS would love to take over. He would be a perfect fit for either team.

Biggest position of need for the Browns? Our biggest need by far is QB. With a decent QB Josh Cribbs and Mo Mass will look much more like the good, young developing receivers that they are.
-
Browns need Good WRWe just need Jake healthy. Josh Cribbs and Mo Mass are plenty open they just need a QB that can deliver the ball on time. Josh Cribbs is making incredible strides as a receiver and look for him to have a breakout game soon. With Robo as a slot receiver and Stuckey backing him up we're fine at WR. Where we need help is another Marcus Benard type coming up from our practice squad, and some more DB help as well.

Someone who needs to be part of the blame gameJake's high ankle sprain is to blame. Seneca is a good guy that The Big Show picked up for a 6th round pick. Another way of looking at it is there wasn't another team in the league willing to give up a 5th round pick for him. What he'll do is what we've done, keep us in the game going into the 4th qtr, and then we hope to make a play or get a turnover to steal a win. TBS is paying Jake $7mm big ones, which is what you pay a QB that can make plays in the 4th qtr to win a game. We'll be fine when Jake gets back, with our new beast Hillis/J Harrison combo, a rapidly improving Josh Cribbs at wideout and Ben Watson at TE.

Westside SteveThursday nights at the old Agora with Easy Street and $1 pitchers of beer, did not get much better than that.

Eagles cut HallPFT originally reported that "super scout" Phil Savage had convinced the Eagles to take Hall as part of this trade when it was made LOL. The better move for the Eagles would have been to eat Savage's contract and fire him now.
-
Seneca WallaceThe Big Show did an interview with Trivisonno on WTAM earlier this week in which he made clear multiple times that Delhomme is the guy. He was discussing McCoy and emphasizing over and over that he wouldn't play this year, and he would add "I brought Jake in here for a reason you know" more than twice. He didn't mention Wallace once. While this could have been an oversight by The Big Show while giving an interview I doubt it.

Montario HardestyThere were no more RB's left on the board in the class of Hardesty, and he would not have lasted until our 71st pick. After Hardesty, there were no RB's taken in Rd 3, only one (McKnight) picked in the middle of Rd 4, and no RB's selected in Rd 5. Trading up for Hardesty was a good move.

Browns desperate to move down?We are in great shape at 7. The way things are shaping up we'll have either Berry available to pick or Clausen available to dangle for a trade, or if they are both off the board we'll have one of the top lineman in the Draft available to take. Win, Win and Win.
Oh, and Florio is a tool.
-
Who do we take at #7 if Berry is gone?Best OL available
-
Charles DavisAs crazy as Suh and Berry faling to us sounds with the 3 OT's available and the number of teams needing help at OT big time (Det, Wash, Sea, KC) out there, if Detroit goes OT this mock is in play
-
Mangini, The Jets and other thingsThe home game next year with the Jets will be freaking huge, imo a hotter ticket than the Steeler game and my candidate for Monday Night Football.

Trade For!No thanks on any trade for Kolb. This boils down to Heckert vs Andy Reid, mano a mano, and until I know more I'll take Andy Reid every time. If Reid offers Kolb to us for a reasonable price we shouldn't want him, and if Reid likes Kolb we won't be able to get him anyway.

MANGINI & COACHING STAFF WILL RETURNI want to make an important observation. We are all far more excited about this than we were with the Holmgren hiring. When was the last time we were happy with our coach? Browns Board proving again that it has the highest concentration of intelligent Browns fans.
Thanks Eric!
Thank you Mopaji you were on this all along, I did not think The Big Show was buying in but you were confident all along. Also, THANK YOU RANDY LERNER. I am all in and have to give cred to Randy, this is an awesome FO/Coaching Staff he has put together. GO BROWNS!!
