Alright mjp, we are approaching the end of the second season of Guardians baseball... how about we consider changing the name of this forum?

My suggestion:

The G(uardians) Spot

Oh believe me Dutch I have tried, poked, prodded into every corner of these FORUMS, BOXES, TOOLS everything some that I held my breath but. NO ..... I do have limited moderator power here.

I will check with Steve (since he does own and runs the joint) to see if we couldn't do a little LONG OVERDUE freshen up here. He or his tech people did a little bit when he got it from Stan (and Kathy). We'll see what happens.

~ Just a look at the AL CENTRAL RACE up close at ..... MIN, CLE -4½ , DET -8 ..... Cleveland is "ok".

62	58	.517	-	-	6-4	W2	528	489	+39	64-56	33-24	29-34	31-34	Aug 15 v. <-- MIN
57	62	.479 ●	4.5	8.5	4-6	W1	485	485	-->0	60-59	31-28	26-34	28-35	Au. <--- ■ CLE a 0 run diff

But we sure wouldn't want to go back and look at the "easy ones that got away" ! That's for sure. Let's see who buckles down now down the stretch.

Well THIS is annoying...

In 97 games with the Guardians, he had a .701 OPS and 11 homeruns.

In 11 games with the Marlins, he has an OPS over 1.000 and 4 homers already.

If he had hit anything like he normally has, perhaps they would have been in a better position at the trade deadline and wouldn't have needed to trade him. There's no way I wanted the Guardians to be on the hook for another $16 mill next year, because you have to think after the poor season he had he would have activated the option year.

Before Kenny Lofton, Alex Cole was the Indians speedy, stolen base merchant who played centerfield and lead off. In 1990 he came up in July and played so well that the team literally moved the fences back drastically in Cleveland Stadium to take advantage of his speed. In 63 games, he hit .300, had an on base percentage of .379 and stole 40 bases. He would hit .295 with an OBP of .386 and 27 stolen bases the following season, but would get phased out in 1992 by the emergence of Kenny Lofton.

Two days after he turned 58, Cole passed away. Sad news to read.

~ AND ~ for the updated matchups for the Saturday and Sunday Detroit at Cleveland Games 3 and 4 are :

On Saturday night Game 3 of 4 at 7:10 pm on Bally TV the pitchers - Bibee vs Manning

For get-away day Sunday Game 4 of 4 at 1:40 pm. on Bally TV the pitchers - Allen vs Rodriguez

︎~~~~~~~︎ ︎~~~~~~~︎. So there you go !

DET 4 CLE 3, final. Game 4 of 4 Sunday at 1:40 pm series now Detroit 2 Cleveland 1. See you there.

mjp28

~ AND ~ Game 4 of 4 Sunday, the Guardians going for the split in the series. Miggy's last game in Cleveland.

Game 4 of 4 Sunday at 1:40 pm series now Detroit 2 Cleveland 1. Pitchers - Bibee vs. Rodriguez.

︎~~~~~~~~~~︎

DET 2 CLE 0, top 3. Detroit scored 11 runs in this series so far, 8 in the first inning ..... got 2 more today in the first. ..... again.

DET 4 CLE 1, bottom 7, Detroit getting some good defensive plays today. They are really great on close games this year.

DET 4 CLE 1 final with some really good defensive plays. The Guardians meanwhile have just miserable offensive output. They are watching the sophomore season of the AL CENTRAL CHAMPIONSHIP Season just melt away .....

Very disappointing. Meanwhile the last preseason game of the BROWNS ? 2023 is coming up next Saturday
