Political Discussion

    • A growing share of the public dislikes both political parties. Nearly three-in-ten (28%) express unfavorable views of both parties, the highest share in three decades of polling. And a comparable share of adults (25%) do not feel well-represented by either party.

    Yep, that's me.

Regarding term limits for Congress, I'm not on board with it at all. The main reason is a lot of damage could be done by some Congressman/woman who's backed by some extreme & wealthy "unknown" donor (thanks Citizens United decision). Then they leave a mess that "we the people" are upset with. The simple solution (to me, anyway) is to vote better/smarter, and hope for the best.

Terms limits came about in Ohio, then wham...here comes Senate Bill 5 backed by some huge funding from ALEC, despite the public polling against that 70-30%. It took a grass roots effort to overturn it. Ever since all that, I'm vehemently against term limits.

  • Electoral college is the right thing to do.  Without it, California and New York would dictate who is President everytime.

Pretty much true, I'd throw in Texas as well.

One downfall of the Electoral College though, is the Presidential candidates tend to put a lot of focus on "swing states" and may ignore other states. Perhaps that leads to corruption, or at least accusations of corruption in the elections (see Georgia lol).

The founding fathers were pretty smart. But they had no idea our population would boom to 340 million, and didn't see social media coming.

  • Anyone who wants to do away with the electoral college doesn't understand this country is governed by the constitution, not majority votes.

The masses do not get to trample the rights of the individual just because they outnumber them.

    You mean our population?

The all or nothing nature of the electoral college, at the very least, is pretty stupid. Makes some votes completely worthless

And a minority doesn't get to rule because they scream the loudest (and gerrymander the shit out of everything) (and do everything possible to suppress the vote)

Majorities back age and term limits and eliminating the Electoral College. Reflecting the public’s frustration with the federal government and political leaders, large shares of Americans support various changes to the political system, including for such long-standing proposals as establishing term limits for members of Congress and scrapping the Electoral College. Age limits – for both federal elected officials and members of the Supreme Court – draw broad support. But there is little appetite in the public for increasing the size of the U.S. House or modifying the allocation of Senate seats.

And a majority of Americans want to get the fuck out of Ukraine as opposed to the guy you voted into office. Funny how that shit goes.

The last three are all basically the same point. If some many votes don't matter then there's no need to cheat, or recount, etc. Of course, that didn't stop Trump from challenging everything. Or conservatives from calling every election fraudulent. So clearly, if conservatives think the current system is full of fraud they can't turn around and say the current system prevents fraud....

    - a typical Steve post with a comment that has nothing to do with what he originally posted. Why? Because he was immediately proved wrong and wants to change the subject.

    - opposing more aid isn't the same as "getting the hell out of Ukraine". You got this wrong.

You made a post saying that America was gung ho to give every last nickel to ukraine. Not exactly but at least a lot more. I said they're not. I gave you a CNN article that said they weren't. And it wasn't from June or July.

I'm just saying people are getting sick of it. If you and the rest of the Biden cult members don't agree then sign right up.

No, that's not what you said. You said this

"And a majority of Americans want to get the fuck out of Ukraine as opposed to the guy you voted into office"

And no, that's not what I said in response

If you're just going to make shit up after your first post then why even make the first post? What you said in that first post is wrong. End of story. But I imagine you'll continue to dig your heels in and typical Steve some insult, some words in my mouth, some anything to try and take this off course...

No doubt public support for wasting money to protect those who launder your candidates money was stronger, thanks to the lies of the Democrat Party and the compromised left wing news media. As you keep reminding everyone things change. But feel free to send your own money. It's probably tax deductible in this era of bidenomics.

Patience is a rare commodity in the United States. Few people supported the war in Vietnam till the bloody end.

  • I guess it depends who they polled. Those numbers don't mean crap.

I'd believe the majority wouldn't give another dime either, especially if they were transparent about what the money was actually going to.

Strange to hear from people that were panicky about Trump having keys to the nukes or him starting wars yet they have no problem with senile Biden poking Russia.
