The Chicago Bears are set to announce a $4.6 billion plan to build a new enclosed stadium and improved lakefront area with half of the money coming from taxpayers, sources said.

A  $4.6B  new enclosed stadium  on mean  ol' Lake Michigan ....  sweet.   😮

Face it in November, December  and  especially January I for one would  lo♥︎e  to be in a nice 68°  seasoned surroundings  versus a  7° with 25 mph winds blowing straight in off the lake for hours on end.

The players would agree with me  100%  guaranteed.

No doubt.  Ony simpletons think you should be playing in the snow and slush.  I'd also bet most don't even go to games.

IMO if you don't attend 3-4 games a year, your opinion is moot.

Big talkers who don't spend money.  Pfft.

It's easy to say what you want while sitting at home.  I go to games and live 600 miles away.

I absolutely understand that open-air football stadiums in the North are pretty useless for so much of the year but I admit, I watched a video of the renderings of the new Bears domed stadium and part of me died inside thinking of a team like the Bears playing indoors.

And I have a feeling if the Browns build a dome, a big part of me is going to absolutely hate it too, even if the logical part of me understands.

And will praise God the first time you trudge through 3 feet of snow while it's still falling so hard you can't see 50 ft. while bundled up for the 10 degree 30 mph winds.?️?

I hear ya.  But a part of people died after the Chiefs playoff game.  (amputations)

Games are being played deeper and deeper into the winter.  We're at a 17 game schedule right now.  How long do we think that odd # 17 is going to last?   It's going to be 18 some day.  And they'll probably throw in another bye week.  So we'll be even deeper into the winter.  And the league will be scheduling night games...because it gives good TV ratings from the people sitting warm in their living rooms.  I mean really, we wouldn't make our dogs stay out in that weather for the time frame of a football game.  But it's ok for humans.

Hence why I wrote that the logical part of me understands why the team could end up in a dome.

OH YES !   I remember those days in high school. .....  and a few in college and some great ones at the  OL' MUNI !

I'm too old  for that stuff,  give me a dome now.   My body isn't a bleacher bod any more.     😮

I experienced one of those nights in Wyoming when it was -26F with a 50 mph wind.

Sanity prevailed and I left for warmer climates.

Oh sweet 8lb, 6oz baby Jesus, thank you for this dome stadium that will allow my Brownies to snatch defeats from the jaws of victory in perfect 72 degree weather!

  • Apparently this is the rendering of the new Browns domed stadium in Brookpark.

    It is... um... interesting.

  • I love the angular roof. Tornadoes can lift it right off and carry it to Canton's HOF Stadium.?️?

Cleveland doesn't get tornadoes you silly goose!

So apparently most of the dome would be underground because there is a height restriction due to the airport next door... perfect tornado shelter! (Don't worry about the shards of glass!)

People in Wichita believed that tornadoes never touched down east of the Arkansas river there.........................................until it did.........................https://www.weather.gov/ict/AndoverTimeline

Kind of like Cleveland ...............................until last year........?

  • Dig Dawg Dome?

  • So has been these rumors for years that Modell was offered a chance to be included in the Gateway sports complex in the early 90s, but he turned it down. We know the rest.

Well, supposedly the location of the Browns stadium would have been south of I-90, on the other side of the highway from Progressive Field.

There could end up being a stadium there after all...

  • Way cool.

  • Like I said, Haslam is a mover and shaker.  He isn't going to sit around while the Cleveland City farts around talking band-aids.

When you want a new suit, you don't head over to Walmart.

Mover and shaker, scam artist, six to one, half a dozen to another.

I'm glad the mayor of Cleveland isn't bending over for Haslam. Let him build his dome, which I can guarantee will be a somewhat mediocre, non-descript version of what other cities will do. A building in a generation will be outdated, and people will find driving out to Brookpark to a sea of parking lots and not much else to be boring, and the team will desert it and move back to Cleveland proper.

A dome in downtown Cleveland isn't happening.

The Haslams want the to be in Brookpark because they can buy a ton of land there. There is nowhere in the city limits of Cleveland like this.

Despite what they've said over the years, how they are fine with a spruced up Cleveland Browns Stadium, what they are talking in Brookpark is what they want. What they are trying to do is get Cleveland to offer a sweetheart deal so Brookpark has to do better.

Cleveland knows this, sees this, and seems to be: "Nah... good luck!"
