  • JULY 29  .....   The Cleveland Guardians acquired outfielder Lane Thomas from the Washington Nationals for three prospects Monday night.

Thomas, 28, adds instant offense in right field, a position where Cleveland has struggled this season. Guardians right fielders rank 27th in OPS, with just 13 home runs. Thomas has gone deep only eight times this year to go along with 28 stolen bases, but he's coming off a career season in 2023, when he hit 28 home runs while compiling a .783 OPS.

In return, the Nationals received pitching prospect Alex Clemmey, shortstop Rafael Ramirez and third baseman Jose Tena.

    EDITOR'S PICKS

Clemmey was the 58th overall pick in the 2023 draft. He's a lanky, 6-foot-6 lefty who just turned 19 this month.

Ramirez is a left-handed hitting shortstop with 20 home run potential, but below average contact rates in the low minors. He's also just 19.

Tena has played 21 big leagues games over the past two seasons, but he has mostly been in Triple-A in 2024 and 2025 is likely the last year when he can be optioned to the minors without going through waivers. He's a left-handed-hitting utility infielder with above-average raw power and solid, but not spectacular, other tools.

    ■   8:34 pm  -  CLEVELAND (AP) — Heavy rain and wet field conditions forced the postponement of Tuesday night’s game between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Cleveland Guardians, who will make it up as part of a traditional doubleheader Wednesday.

    ■  The first game will start at 1:10 p.m.  ■

With thousands of fans inside Progressive Field, Guardians manager Stephen Vogt and GM Mike Chernoff were part of a group that inspected the grass in left field at 7:30 p.m. before the postponement was announced 40 minutes later.

  • Good dog, my butthole was puckered during that 9th inning.

Bases loaded, no one out and Clase slams the door.

G's get out of Minnesota no worse for wear. Four days later, Twins still in the same spot.

That seven game losing streak appears in the rear view mirror with this fifth win in a row.

Boyd and Cobb with back-to-back very solid starts is great to see indeed.

  • Went to last night's game, a 13-5 laugher for the good guys.

For the first time ever I sat in the club seats on the first base side, above the infield seats. Great view from up there (where upper decks should be if it wasn't for all the loges pushing the upper decks into the heavens) and the all-you-can-eat food was good too. Definitely will do that again next season.

2-1 Guardians in the rubber game, top of the sixth.

    👍

  • Guardians win the last two vs the Rangers, win the series.

HUGE four game series starting tomorrow vs the hard-charging Royals, doubleheader tomorrow.
