Off the top of my head...I believe the Browns are 7-14 against the Packers.

You may have forgot about the one postseason game. 1965 NFL Championship game.

That is regular season. As I said above, there was one postseason game: 1965 NFL Championship.

    7-14, you're right.

  • Well at least I can see it on NFL Network tonight.

I will be tuning in as well. Will get at least a quarter of the starters, minus Watson. Winston should be good enough to put up 14 on the Hawks D. A good showing would make the team have some positivity while preparing for the Cowboys.

  • Who gave up the long Seahawks pass for a TD that was called back on a hold? Shitty coverage.

I think it was #31 Chase (him to the end zone) Williams.

  •  ..... I'M BACK   (family business)  ...  Besides the score what did I miss ?

When we get into arguing Paul Brown vrs Vince Lombardi - it's like arguing favorite ice cream flavors. In my world nothing beats mint chocolate chip ice cream. That doesn't mean I'm right. It just means you're not gonna prove I'm wrong.

Nobody, not even Vince Lombardi - led his team to 10 consecutive Pro Football Championship appearances (winning 7 of those) in their 1st 10 years as a Pro Football Head Coach. That was inclusive of making it to the NFL Title Game every one of the 1st 6 years the Browns participated in the NFL (winning 3 of the 6). That was after hearing all about "wait until they have to play REAL competition."  They won the very 1st NFL Title Game they appeared in.  More specifically, LAND HO!

You covered it all extremely well above so I'll just slip in 1 quick note.  As for Paul Brown's winning championships at every level beginning with high school - he didn't just win multiple State Championships in Ohio.  He also won 1 in Maryland.

2 former Paul Brown players went on to coach Multiple NFL Super Bowls/Dynasties.  Paul Brown's former Messenger Guard Chuck Noll took the Steelers from nothing to our favorite NFL Team to hate.  Don Shula was another former Cleveland Brown that appeared in 6 Super Bowls as a Head Coach.  After losing his 1st Super Bowl appearance with the Colts in 68, he took the Dolphins to 5 Super Bowls (and won 2 of them).  Shula is the only NFL Head Coach that combined a Super Bowl Championship with a perfect undefeated season in 1972 (the Browns took them into OT fwiw).

Other NFL Great Coaches that learned under Paul Brown?  Ever hear of the West Coast Offense?  Most of those components were from Paul Brown with some sprinkles Sid Gilman provided that former Paul Brown Assistant Coach Bill Walsh borrowed for the dynasty he built in SF.  Many of Walsh's former Assistant Coaches inclusive of Andy Reid, Mike Holmgren and others enjoyed great success using the WCO with their teams. Former Paul Brown Assistant Weeb Ewbank went on to win 2 Titles as HC of the Colts and 1 Super Bowl Championship as HC of the Jets. Syd already mentioned and explained all this so I'm just piggy-backing some redundancy here because I join Syd in thinking a Championship Trophy should have been named after the guy.  Maybe even just a Conference Championship Trophy.  A Championship is a Championship whether it is called a Super Bowl Championship or a Championship Title.

Paul Brown has 3 NFL Championships. Sorry, but the AAFC was around only 4 years. I'm sure Browns fans are proud of winning the AAFC. I know it existed, but if you ask most NFL fans they have never even heard of it.

Look, someone here got upset that I posted something on the Super Bowl trophy being named after Vince Lombardi. Then he tried to make this a debate on Vince Lombardi vs. Paul Brown. I don't even consider Vince the greatest coach in Packers history. Curly Lambeau has a better resume than both Vince and Paul Brown. No disrespect to the Browns, but the Packers have several legendary coaches in their history to the Browns one.

If you want to sit here and try to one up the Packers franchise or their coaching history, you will lose and embarrass yourself every single time. Knock yourselves out though.

I respect the Browns history and all of the Paul Brown history, but it is silly to try and pretend either one is superior to Green Bay.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have a 70 mile drive to Door County to get going on.

Just saw the Packers end their preseason in style. Time to get ready to face Philly in Brazil now. It gets real in 13 days.

If you look at your comment I bolded above - feel free to show me where I did that.  The main thing I wanted to point out about Paul Brown was he won Championships at every level from high school to college to Pro Football.

I'll be happy to use your "if you ask most NFL fans" precedent.   "If you ask most NFL fans what coach won the NFL Title way back in 1929?"  I'm pretty confident the only people that are gonna immediately know it was Curley Lambeau without looking it up are the real die-hard Packers fans like yourself.  Others would ask me if I understood how much more challenging it is 95 years later to win a Super Bowl Championship in a league that now has 32 teams compared to one that only had 12 teams in 1929.

Next, you do understand if your team's first kickoff was in 1919, they're probably going to have quite a few more Championships than a team that didn't play its first Pro Football game until 1946 right?

Last but not least, until they change the name of the Pro Football Hall of Fame to the NFL Hall of Fame - I'll continue to count all 4 Pro Football Championships the Browns won in their 1st 4 years of existence.  Don't even try to pretend you wouldn't do the exact same thing if this was the evolution of the Packers. Speaking of the NFL that was supposed to be so overwhelming, the Browns won the NFL Championship in their very 1st year in the league.  In fact, they made it to the NFL Championship Game every single year during their 1st 6 years in the league (winning 3 of them) before winning another one in 1964.

Many here may know this already, but in 1953 Paul Brown wanted Brownie The Elf put on the helmets. Thankfully he changed his mind after seeing the design.

If I did, what are you gonna do about it? That's what I thought.

Brownie is fine, just glad he was never put on the helmet. The end.

It's absolutely  TRUE  that back in the  1950s  era many of the players did  not  want to have that little child-like elfie thing  anywhere  on their uniforms !   I could not agree any more with them.   They did win out with that. ... thank goodness.

Are most Packers fans as annoying as you are, or are you a special case?
