Well, we know that Watson is better than DTR.  And I believe Stef when he said Watson gave us the best chance to win.....which would be over DTR & Winston.  I mean, Winston's been around a lot of years now.

I think Winston has always given them the best chance to win, Kevin just said what he has to. His knock is turnovers, but he can still sling it and generate points and first downs. Something the other two guys can’t do.

Not that it matters now frankly, or that it ever mattered. Winston is the only semi capable QB on the roster, but there was always way too many other problems for this team to go deep even if Winston had a resurgence year.

Actually, the quarterback with the best chance to win now plays for the Indianapolis Colts.  But catering to Desuck's fragile ego,  We not only blew up the OC position and released  a guy who the fans would have been screaming for about three games ago. ?

Don't forget the Herschel Walker trade.

Yes, I researched it.  The Vikings did indeed give away more high draft picks...  However they weren't saddled with Watson's $200 milion+ contract either. It really doesn't matter if it was the worst trade or the third worst. The Browns are screwed for both this season and the next- at least.

I'm not very proud as a Browns fan to say with confidence WE'RE #1...  In making the absolute worst trade in NFL history.

It's certainly the worst Browns trade, yes. Here's a few more off the top of my head...

    *Phipps for Warfield

    *Oliphant for Byner

*Trading picks with the Ratbirds, they got Ngata, we got Winslow Jr.

    NFL history-wise, it's certainly top 3.

*Broncos trade for Wilson (similar to DW deal)

*Saints trade their entire draft to get RB Ricky Williams

*49ers trade to draft Trey Lance ( similar to DW deal). Why they've never gotten beat up for that is a mystery- probably because they are winning with Purdy. Otherwise, Lynch & Shanahan get canned.

Certainly the worst ever, but why did it have to be the Browns to displace them after so many years at #1?

It’s honestly kinda impressive really, how many 11 win teams blow up their offensive coaching staff after making the playoffs with 5 QBs. We accelerated the offense into the dirt in record time.

Winston did briefly show what it looks like when the QB scans the field and throws it downfield, and the result was multiple guys finally getting targets. And a TD that Watson would never have thrown, kinda like Flacco.

We’d really have 4 wins (giants, raiders, bungles) if we had Flacco starting in all likelihood. All teams that basically handed us the game but the offense couldn’t go forwards.

He’d be an upgrade, but you are overlooking how godawful this OLine is. I highly doubt Flacco would have us sitting above .500.

Regardless of how bad they are, the giants, raiders, and bengals handed us the game on a platter - we just refused to take any of them. Our early schedule was quite easy.

For the 2023 Browns, I would agree.

Yeah…I was like WTF they fire AVP after the offense performed like that?

According to the FO talking heads they wanted personnel and coaches that fit our overpriced QB.

Seems like the Browns thing to do, SMH.

Lmfaoooo!! It's always something with this God damn team.. Then why is Kevvy still here?.. He doesn't fit DW's criteria either... The bullshit this team conjours up is just fucking hilarious..

  • We all knew that Watson was going to get hurt this season.  It just happened 6 games later than I thought.  I figured he'd cause his own injury by running and taking on tacklers, or because of the OLine play.  But getting hurt with nobody anywhere near him seems to indicate that he's not worth investing the team in him anymore.  But that's something that Haslem and his henchmen will have to sign off on.

If they must keep Watson, then draft a LT.

If they're moving on from Watson, then draft the tallest drink of water QB with the strongest arm.  And if he turns out to be a Derick Anderson...then draft QB again.

I can 100% see the browns committing to Watson another year, because that’s kinda a browns thing to do.

Actually Winston will have a Jacoby-esque season and the fans will get attached like they did to him and Flacco, the browns will cut bait to not hurt Watsons feelings, and then go into next year with Watson QB1 and DTR QB2, that’s the browns thing to do.

  • For the good of the team , he should take the conventional surgery.

Thank you!  Tampa drafted RT Tristan Wirfs from Iowa (whose HC Kirk Ferentz was our former OL Coach in 93-95 assisted by Pat Hill).  At first, Wirfs started at RT for the Bucs and made a couple Pro Bowls before he was moved to LT where he also made the Pro Bowl. Remember how many scouts and draftniks concluded he'd never be able to play LT at the NFL level?  A lot of the same people that said the same things about Orlando Brown Jr.  Ferentz coached Brown's dad (Zeus) in Cleveland as an undrafted rookie that became a starter in the 1st half of his rookie season. Ferentz has coached up a lot of OL at Iowa that later made the Pro Bowl at the NFL level.  We've had other OL from his program late in their careers (Eric Steinbach and Ross Verba).  Steinbach was the refreshing veteran influence lining up next to rookie Joe Thomas once upon a time.  If I have my time sequence in tact, I do believe he was also a helpful veteran lining up to the left of another rookie Alex Mack another season here. Anyway, some organizations/FOs seem a lot deeper with their evaluation of OL players via college and FA.  The GM that brought Teller here was Dorsey and of course Bitonio was already here from a previous FO so what have they given our passing game to count on?  False starts?  Check. Holding penalties? Check. Lining up wrong to the extent of illegal formation?  Check. Lame effort?  Check.  Those kind of add up to check mate...

Right now, I don't feel like there's a competence in the FO that can right their wrongs; but Haslam won't start there.  He'll fire the scapegoats trying to make efficient NFL starters out of guys many other teams wouldn't have considered. Is it possible I'm wrong here?  Of course and I wish I was.  As usual, we have to retreat to the tune of "let's see what happens..."

I think you wrong about how much Haslam has to do with anything.

I do agree, he was probably the one to mandate that Dorsey take play calling.  Owners are people and fans just like anyone else.  It's hard to sit by and watch fans leaving by the 2nd qtr while your team is putting on a shit show.

If any of us had the power to make some changes I think we would change something.  I don't think we would just sit there like a dummy and keep watching the same crap week after week.

I like your last 2 points.

I'm gonna disagree about Haslam. 1st, it's his franchise.  2nd, he is the guy responsible for hiring Paul DePodesta and Andrew Berry - which means he can also give 1 or both of them a mercy flush from the FO if needed.  Even if one or both came via a consultant's recommendation - sometimes that doesn't work out (ie; Banner, Farmer, etc).  Anyway, those 2 guys are responsible for what players they draft, trade for or acquire as free agents. Haslam hires the HC too. However, he does let his HC hire his coaching staff although I'm pretty confident he gets input from the FO before making final decisions.
