Dorsey To Take Over…

This is bad. The play calling is not the problem. This is scapegoating. It's a sign of things to come. This is bad.
That’s the pessimist view. It might actually go well. Not saying that’s a probability, but as a Browns fan we have to cling to improbable possibilities in order for life to make sense.

Best line of the year? thanks!!!!

I have no idea what really is going on in Berea.
All I know is local sports radio has been beating the drum that Berry and Stefanski (specifically Berry) had to convince Haslam to go and get Watson. If that is true, I don't see how they survive this season. I wonder if that is why the Haslams weren't at the press conference when they introduced Watson.
But maybe you are right. Maybe Stefanski is giving Dorsey the play-calling duties with the idea that nothing is going to change, then say: "Hey, MY offense works. THIS was DORSEY'S offense, and you guys made me fire my very good friend in Alex Van Pelt and scrap my offense for THIS."

If this is true then both need to be dismissed at the end of the season.
Critical thinking, though, would make me wonder why Stefanski would want DW. It's not a fit and AB would have to know that.

Scapegoating only goes after the symptom(s) of a disease to the extent it neglects fighting the disease that is slowly killing the host.
The Browns can do everything we're spit balling with trading away their best players for future picks. However, what if the SAME people in charge of drafting and hiring suck at what they do? These great players like Ward and Garrett weren't drafted by Berry. The only long time starter and 6 Time Pro Bowl player on the Offensive Line here (Bitonio) wasn't drafted by Berry; but FREAKIN Jedrick Wills was. The other Pro Bowl player on the OL at RG (currently injured) Ryan Teller wasn't brought here by this FO either. They did bring oft-injured RT Jack Conklin here who has remained oft-injured; and then they extended his contract/raised his salary heading into 2023 where he went on IR after week 1 and when he was cleared to play in 2024 he pulled his hamstring missing 2 or 3 more games. Nice guy with too much bad luck preventing him from playing and helping this team.
Nick Chubb, Myles Garrett and Denzel Ward (all with multiple Pro Bowls) weren't brought here by this FO. The ONLY exciting guy this FO landed in the draft was JOK; and that might be more blind squirrel finds a nut than the rule...
It's ALL going to boil down to Jimmy hiring the right FO people to lean on or the bad hiring and drafting will persist into all these future picks they're about to be trading to acquire.

And if the same FO is doing all the picking assuming we get a lot of legitimate draft picks in trade, then just rinse and repeat the same old tub of shitwater we now have.

This is really good news as Kevin needs to focus on gameday, game management and that's tough to do when trying to call offensive plays.
Now he can coach 2 series ahead and be ready to make whatever decision he has to, but based on history, I would suggest to him to go full Costanza and do the opposite of whatever his first instinct is.

100% agree here. I'm not a big fan of head coaches calling plays as there's so much going on in game. Bowles in Tampa is calling defensive plays and the defense is god awful right now. It's good to be 2-3 plays ahead of the game. Doesn't mean that some coaches don't excel at it.
I do find the timing a little suspect. When you're trying to fix a problem - you don't throw the kitchen sink at it. You try things individually to see the effect. Again - I agree Kevin needs to focus on the team as a whole. It does make me wonder if Kevin was a big part of starting #4. Now that #4 is out, Kevin decides to relinquishing play calling. That seems a bit a odd.

Don't feel bad, neither does the owner and significant parts of his FO, Coaching staff and players. My question is why is DePodesta always safe? He caused the rift with the previous Dorsey (the GM that drafted Baker, Ward and Chubb in the same draft). Furthermore, he added a reliable WR target Jarvis Landry for his young QB. So what was the problem? Hue Jackson was already here as a previous hire by Jimmy (with a prior FO that had no idea who Patrick Mahomes was and that he unseated Baker as the starter at Texas Tech). Yeah, we got Myles Garrett who many of us greatly appreciate for his consistency as an elite pass rusher in this league - but guys like him and TJ Watt don't seem to be winning playoff games when they don't have a capable QB. The way the league is set up - most of the teams making the playoffs are doing so behind very good QB play. There's exceptions to that rule like Pittsburgh who has lost in the 1st round 5 consecutive years.

Precisely - that's what I'm getting at! At 60 years of age, I can't tell you how many times I've seen all this before here. Scapegoats get fired and high 5 are exchanged almost as if there's going to be 2 brain cells suddenly on speaking terms finding all these upgrades galore that has escaped them all this time. Even worse, players that actually have given us stuff to celebrate and high 5 one another about are the ones they're gonna trade off to do their careless shopping with next.

If that wasn't so pathetic we'd have to use a different description, like deplorable or pitiable or, dare I say, Brownian. Brownian motion is the random motion of particles suspended in a medium. Yeah, that's just about right.?

I can accept Brownian. We may not win things, but at least we have our own adjective.

Being a Browns fan is becoming the definition of having Team Stockholm Syndrome!

I agree in the sense that the HC being able to concentrate on managing the football game, strategies, the officials, potential replays, etc. is the preferred set up. But none of that has anything to do with the current problems. Wyatt Teller playing this week might help fixing part of a problem (if he's football ready)...but of course now we're without our starting QB, so...

Good video on speculation on why Dorsey is taking over play-calling, and how difficult it is to evaluate college QBs when it comes to the draft, which the Browns most likely will be doing this coming April.

The call probably came down from Haslam that something needs to change.
The old AVP love may be Stefanski love, who knows how the dynamic goes really. Stefanski is just trying to turn crap into wine with the current group.

This reminds me of the old story about wine and sewage. If you have a barrel of sewage and add a cup of fine wine, do you have a barrel of fine wine? No, it's still sewage. If you have a barrel of fine wine and add a cup of sewage, do you have a barrel of fine wine? Nope, it has become sewage.
I think we have a situation when a small amount of sewage has filtered in to our wine. I think we can fix that by next season and why I don't think we have a fire sale situation on our hands.

Second oldest roster and the Browns are going to have to suck it up and stop kicking Watson's cap hit down the road.
This isn't a quick fix.
